I’m sure this has probably been asked before, but is there any chance of having a price (value) band indicated for magic items in cases where they might feasibly be purchasable i.e. not for artefacts etc.?
If we currently look up a magic item, we then have to look elsewhere to determine what it might typically cost to buy it, and it can get a bit clunky.
Just a thought.
It is not a DDB question but a WotC question. And, part of their idea of having Magic Items as rare and special things, they don't have prices on them. That doesn't mean you can't put a price on them! Because I did! Check my signature for the link to the file.
But they do. In the DMG section about Magic Items it assigns a suggested price band based on rarity. That’s all I’m thinking of - including those price bands against the item’s details in DDB, because I can personally never remember them and it could potentially save a lot of time in gameplay.
Just adding to that... you have a price, and all your merchants sells at that price ? last time i played 3E and my players wanted to shop for items, they literally passed the whole session trying to find the lowest price seller in town. this is why 5E didn't put a price on items, because its useless to have the price... since your players will try to lower it for sake of of greedyness. thats without even considering that you, knowing that they will, will also make the price go up just so we can reach the said price. so why bother doing all of that when you can just say, this seller sells the item this much which is in the range of the item rarity and then have your players talk to you about lowering it.
an example... regular magic potion of healing ! 50gp is the price. how many players actually try to lower that price ? how many times have you ever sold an healing potion at the said 50gp price ?
there you go, why would you want a price on all magical items when you know those prices won't be used for anything except destroy your own world economy ?
another example... i buy a 10ft ladder for 1sp. i break it in pieces, now i have 2 ten foot poles... a few torches because of each step. i'll see that to a merchant... let's see how much money i make out of each ladder... 2x 10 foot poles = 5cp each so 10cp which gives me 1 sp. 10 torches = 1cp each, so again 10cp equal 1sp.
oh wow... i'll buy all the ladders, go to another town and start selling 10 foot poles and torches... i will literally make 100% profit out of it all. literally all the ladders i will buy for 1 silver will be sold in pieces for literally 2 silvers. reah right, because magical items do not break the economy of the world if you start putting price tags ont hem. not to mention that all magical items are supposed to be hard to create, yeah you have literally guilds mass pruducing the items... then if they really do, why would that item be worth anything if its that easy to acquire ?
another example... i'll make prestidigitation scrolls, which gives every single house keeper able to just clean 5 foot by just reading a scroll... its a common item... and common items are 50 to 100 gold pieces... its also a consummable, so its halved... lets say its just a cantrip, so why not just ay its 25gp. oh wait... every mages int he world can do this with ease, so they should all be rich selling those... so its easy to get, let's say its another half then... so its now only about 12 gold pieces !
all of this is in the dungeons masters guide by the way. except for the easy to get, though they do say that pretty much every spell caster can do cantrips easily and put that on scrolls with ease...
also they literally say that every magical items takes a number of days to create equals to 5 gold per day. while mundane items can be created by making it 25 gold per day. a day of work can be no longer then 8 hours. so let's forget warforge who can just create things 24hour a day. they also say any help whatsoever stacks up...
so let's say your mage guild uses 10 wizards to create those prestidigitation scrolls who are worth about 25gp... remove 5 for every mages thats 50gold... wait a second... did i just break the bank ?!! it literally takes only 5 wizards in a room casting prestidigitation every 6 seconds on a different scroll. and thats mass produced ?
why isn't cantrips all over the place then ? i mean tons of money to do there, so why aren'T mages just literally be the richest place in the world and why aren'T they literally just not owning the world already ?
i really hope this opens your minds people... there is a reason why 3E did it wrong with magical items having a price... magical items should be a boon, not a common thing in your world. and if it is a common thing in your world, then everyone should be able to get it with ease. but said prices should definitely be going down by a lot if all magical items are mass produced.
also... even in 3E... a single gold piece is what farmers do per week or months. so your adventurers coming in with even just 50 gold pieces to spend is a lot for any taverns to survive for long. so imagine your adventurers coming in fully equipped with magical gears... imagine all the rogues or the thieves guild just wanting to wreck them and steal those gears who are worth so much.
do you understand now why the world of magical gear shouldn't be all that easy to get into. let alone, let the players able to create a magical gear in a day.

I made a character to test the ability to change modifiers in the character sheet and it doesnt work. Either it will apply the modifier change to the stat or it wont work at all. Sometimes it wont even let me modify the stat.
Please add to subscribers the ability to unlock content for as long as you are subscribe. Or maybe even just the character options like races, classes, subclasses, spells, and feats. And not the other content like items and such so you can have more options.
i have to say that paying 10$ a month for only 2 functions is not a great thing... i really wish i was getting a bit better stuff...
hero tier = 5$ only to get infinite character slot.. thats not great... DM tier = 10$ only to get campaign sharing and infinite character slots... not great still...
i agree we should be getting a bit more then those... not much, but at least 1 other thing per tier.

Can we Please get an option to Homebrew Lore and link it to our Characters, and Homebrew Races?
Working back from the homebrew Race i am working on, i reached a point where i have moved out of what is the Lore of that race into the circumstances og how and why they where created. The Power that created them, the World they where created in and so on.
I dont think all of that should be written in the Introduction to the Race. so could we get an Option to write the linked Lore are at least a notepad.

Both tiers also include: the ability to add public homebrew to your collection and use them on your characters, access to alpha versions of new features (like the combat manager currently, and dice and encounter builder before they went public) and no ads. So more than one thing.
the ability to add public homebrew is a joke though... i mean you cna make homebrews but you can't add them ? so that feature is not really a thing. as for alphas... its cool and all, but its a feature we ose as soon as the thing becomes beta. so is it really a feature ? no ads, yeah ok... but its not like ads are a problem on the site. this is not a video game, it sa website and ads on websites are mainly not a problem unless they put it everywhere and we can't see a thing.
i barely count those as features...

to each their own. I have appreciated and found useful access to the alphas before they become public, and I have used the ability to add other people's homebrew a few times, not often. So for some of us, those are definitely features.
Has it been mentioned to add the d12 attack option for Toll the Dead for when attacking on creatures that have less than it's max HP? It would be nice to have that button under the normal attack.

Adding other people’s homebrew is something I rather value. Admittedly, I would value it more were it easier to weed out the less well made homebrews when searching through what has been published. The process of sifting through the everything that pops up to find the two or three with strong, clear language and have been coded properly is a bit of a process. If that were easier this feature would be even more useful. When they were including the Homebrew Highlights in the Dev Reports I was adding at least a couple things to my collection every week.
There is another benefit to having access to the Tools during alpha testing that I think you have either overlooked or, dismissed prematurely, or perhaps not been aware of. We get to give feedback earlier during the process, and that feedback helps shape those tools before the open beta phase. Subscribers have a chance to tell them what to improve and how before anyone else even gets to see the tools. The Devs have even hosted appointment only virtual meetings with subscribers who chose to participate in order to better develop their tools prior to beta.
As for the advertisements, I appreciate the fact that DDB has promised me that as long as I personally pay for my membership with them, that I will not also be sold as a product to advertisers. Just like antenna TV and regular radio, websites let us use them for free because the real product being sold is access to us, and the real customers are the advertisers. By giving paid subscribers access without advertising, DDB shows integrity. While I may have some disappointments with their service, and I may disagree with some of their decisions, I cannot ever fault their integrity. That’s one of the things I value most highly around here, and a major reason I have continued to support DDB in a variety of ways: financially through purchases and subscriptions, personally through word of mouth promotion, and publicly with posts like this.

its too bad cause i know a ton of friends who would get in if the pay off was much lower. they literally would have much more subbers if they did it right.

Having more subscribers does not automatically mean they are doing things right, at least not financially. We do not have the data to conclude what the right price or even the right bundle of features are.
Cheaper subs might be the right answer, or it could very well be the wrong answer. If the drop in price does not attract enough customers to offset the loss in revenue per customer, then cheaper subs is not the right way to go. For all we know, it is entirely possible that if they want to do things better, they need to increase the price of subscriptions to generate more revenue so they have more resources to develop things faster. Or alternatively as you said, getting rid of ads is not a noteworthy feature, and ads should be there even for subscribers since the extra revenue from ads would more than offset the loss of a few subscribers.
The problem with all the above arguments is that there is not a single shred of evidence to back any of it up, so we cannot possibly know what the right course of action Beyond should take financially.
i pay the DM subs... content sharing is a must for me and 120$ a year is nothing... but thats all i really get from the DM sub... everything else, i would get paying 5$ less. ht.
Is that US Dollars, Canadian, Australian...?!? I ask because I only pay $65 USD for my annual Master Tier sub.

canadian dollars... but... doubtfull that you do. unless you are paying the hero tier and not the DM tier.
cancelled my subs to see the pricing... seems to have changed over the year. it used to be 5$ a month for hero, now seems to be 3$ a month. oh well... thats much better pricing though. then never mind... at those prices then everything is warranted. by the way, the only thing a master tier gets more then a hero tier, is content sharing... everything is literally the same as a hero tier. so there is almost no distinction between hero and master tier. though i'd say content sharing is worth the price tag considering its 6$ a month.
just so you know though... canadian dollars have literally 33% more pricey on Us dollars, thats not counting the taxes i have to pay which is about 15% more too. so literally, i pay 45% more then US people on everything i buy on dndbeyond.com that also explain why i preffer this place then say roll20 and fantasy ground which sells at highest price which means i'd pay about 100% more on those sites. yup, here in canada, our hard cover books cost us about 80$ each.

The subscription tiers have always been $2.99 USD for hero tier and $5.99 USD for master tier. Here is the announcement post put out just over a week before the full launch: https://www.dndbeyond.com/pricing-details
The general pricing information that was previously shared is still valid - normal sourcebooks will be $29.99 and adventures will be $24.99 standard. The Hero Tier subscription will be $2.99 a month and the Master Tier subscription will be $5.99 a month.
i've been subbed since day one... but i remember them talking about 5 and 10 respectively... maybe i just didn't pay attention to the release itself. whatever... though i understand content sharing is a great deal. i still think the master tier just for that is kinda boring... but yeah thats my opinion and im not forcing it onto anyone... 3 and 6$ is much better then 5 and 10 anyway...

The new Player's Bundle is really great, but it would be awesome to have a DM version as well. I don't really need (or can afford, especially with the AUD exchange rate) the full Source Bundle. Having an "Essentials" Source Bundle would be handy. Basically the Player's Bundle but also includes the DMG, MM, and VGtM.
It would be great if we had the option to sort the skills in groups of corresponding ability scores and/or proficiency rather than only alphabetical. E.g.
Strength
Athletics
Dexterity
Acrobatics
Dexterity
Sleight of hand
Dexterity
Stealth
It might be less intimidating for new/newer players.
Just adding to that... you have a price, and all your merchants sells at that price ?
last time i played 3E and my players wanted to shop for items, they literally passed the whole session trying to find the lowest price seller in town.

an example... regular magic potion of healing !
10 torches = 1cp each, so again 10cp equal 1sp.
oh wow... i'll buy all the ladders, go to another town and start selling 10 foot poles and torches...
i will literally make 100% profit out of it all. literally all the ladders i will buy for 1 silver will be sold in pieces for literally 2 silvers.
reah right, because magical items do not break the economy of the world if you start putting price tags ont hem. not to mention that all magical items are supposed to be hard to create, yeah you have literally guilds mass pruducing the items... then if they really do, why would that item be worth anything if its that easy to acquire ?

and some of those stuff just cannot be gotten. all to attract people... thats not quality, thats quantity... this website tells you quality... i see it in mnay a feature, but their micro transaction and their subbing mechanics are far from quality...
its too bad cause i know a ton of friends who would get in if the pay off was much lower.
they literally would have much more subbers if they did it right.

Is that US Dollars, Canadian, Australian...?!? I ask because I only pay $65 USD for my annual Master Tier sub.

canadian dollars... but... doubtfull that you do. unless you are paying the hero tier and not the DM tier.
cancelled my subs to see the pricing... seems to have changed over the year. it used to be 5$ a month for hero, now seems to be 3$ a month.
oh well... thats much better pricing though. then never mind... at those prices then everything is warranted. by the way, the only thing a master tier gets more then a hero tier, is content sharing... everything is literally the same as a hero tier. so there is almost no distinction between hero and master tier. though i'd say content sharing is worth the price tag considering its 6$ a month.
just so you know though...
canadian dollars have literally 33% more pricey on Us dollars, thats not counting the taxes i have to pay which is about 15% more too.
so literally, i pay 45% more then US people on everything i buy on dndbeyond.com
that also explain why i preffer this place then say roll20 and fantasy ground which sells at highest price which means i'd pay about 100% more on those sites.
yup, here in canada, our hard cover books cost us about 80$ each.

The subscription tiers have always been $2.99 USD for hero tier and $5.99 USD for master tier. Here is the announcement post put out just over a week before the full launch: https://www.dndbeyond.com/pricing-details

i've been subbed since day one... but i remember them talking about 5 and 10 respectively... maybe i just didn't pay attention to the release itself.
whatever... though i understand content sharing is a great deal. i still think the master tier just for that is kinda boring... but yeah thats my opinion and im not forcing it onto anyone...

It might be less intimidating for new/newer players.
Please give us a way to reorder attacks on our character sheets. Thank you.
For the love of all that is holy, homebrew languages so I don't have to fix them every time we import a new character
