Having lost two characters now to "errors" within DNDBeyond, I would love to have the ability to export and import full character details, not just .pdf's, to have backups for my most critical characters.
$29.99 per month for all published content MIGHT be an okay deal for new people as they'll never have to buy anything separately and the Legendary Bundle is probably now at around $1,000 - it's basically spreading the cost of the Legendary bundle over 2-3 years... With new books coming, it'll get closer to 3 years of "current" value... But since the Digital Books are only about $30 each, they'd need to put out one every two months to keep the value (content as half the sub, working site features as the other half)... Since some official features don't even work right now, I'm inclined to agree that $30 is too much...
But what about all of us that have already bought the Legendary Bundle? Or any Bundle? Or even any digital books at all? Do we get refunds for all purchased content? Do we get to keep our current $5.99 per month subs?
If they go ahead and reveal this tomorrow, the backlash will be immense!

I had better be able to keep my $60 annual subscription or I’ma be pissed (unless they’re gonna make it cheaper 😂).
Whoa, whoa, whoa... is this real? Because if so, some of this is not going to go down well.
For example, it's kind of hard to tell with the blurriness, but is that saying that free users will be limited to 3, or to 8 character sheets? Because if it gets knocked down to 3, my entire gaming table is going to REVOLT. They find six characters to be quite restrictive. The fallout will NOT be pleasant.
(And honestly, I'm still at a loss as to how the virtual dice, backdrops and other fluff have enough importance to warrant even being considered with all that. What about the bigger questions? What about content sharing--will that still be available? The lack of any sort of descriptive line item for it is worrisome.)

Agreed, and another big question that will warrant a serious reconsideration of this service if the response is "No." I've put in my share of $$$ for their digital book content. To jack up my subscription rate to $30/month would be COMPLETELY unacceptable. And if that gets paired with a LACK of content sharing to free users.... that won't be pretty either.

100%! I really hope this is a fake leak meant to stir sh*t up... Tomorrow is gonna be REALLY interesting!
And honestly, I'm still at a loss as to how the virtual dice, backdrops and other fluff have enough importance to warrant even being considered with all that.
Absolutely! This kind of fluff should NOT be taken into account when deciding on the price plan... Sure, it's NICE to get them free with a Subscription, but they add no value, and I'd be fine without them if they were the reason the subs increased...
I don't think anyone wants to pay for a price jump that's nearly 6 times the original price. Maybe as a one time deal, like how Foundry is or something. But not every month. It's not sustainable for most gamers that I know, unless anyone on here just happens to be independently wealthy and $30 a month doesn't mean anything to them.
And that's not counting the "premium" $55 a month sub. And I'm certainly not going to pay for a monthly subscription with digital books where WotC will just "disappear" any errata they find inconvenient....Yeah no. Not paying that much to have access to files that I don't own.
Somehow? This totally scans for Wizards. The only consolation is the '+' in the screenshot suggesting this is a new, potentially separate service. Some people have been demanding access to new books in exactly this method for a while - they want DDB to operate like a streaming service where you get everything on the platform while your sub holds up, rather than the sub providing ancillary benefits while the content still costs dollars. This is a business model they've been asked to adopt before, in plenty.
But **** me, I am not in a position to go from sixty dollars a year to over three hundred. If they push this, and if they deny access to people's characters if they can't afford to make the switch? That will be the end of the platform. Pretty much guarantee it.
Nope, missed the part where they said they're "transitioning" old accounts into the new system. Absolutely ******* not. I DO NOT WANT a discount on physical books. Physical books are an imposition and a burden on me. I'm currently paying DDB ninety dollars a year plus the price of books for my account and my brother's. I cannot and WILL NOT pay 700+ dollars a year for the same god damned content, nor will I accept the ridiculous and drastically unfair impositions and limitations on free accounts. "Stops paid content piracy" my ******* foot.

Agreed. I don't need the fancy stuff to play the game. It's pretty, sure, but not something I'd pay money for if I had an option to choose.
The only consolation is the '+' in the screenshot suggesting this is a new, potentially separate service.
The first paragraph in the screenshot says, "transition of hero and master tier to free and plus tiers", so if it's real, it's replacing the current service, which is an insult and an outrage... Hopefully it's not real...
While it's not impossible this is legit, it seems like an odd business decision; there's a reason companies use a "low base price and charge for add-ons" model.

Before everyone gets super excited, a lot was also not said in that official post. There was no statement that the current pricing will remain as is. Hopefully it ends up being like what is implied in Sarah's note, but there are no guarantees. No 'current' plans. Is this an old plan? Is there something very similar coming but not exactly this? Ideally tomorrow we will get some positive news on the roadmap for dndbeyond. A lack of information does not necessarily mean positive information. <fingers crossed>
I'm sure everyone thinks I'm a troll, but I sincerely hope this is a full hoax or even a discarded consideration (as someone else suggested). I'm glad for the official response, and glad for the community agreement.
I don't want to see this platform ruined, I've only been using it for a relatively short time, but it's been great the entire time I've been here.

True - I'd be fine with the subscription model remaining the same format and a small $1-$2 per month increase though, but ONLY if that also came with assurances that certain official features would be developed as priorities, and the promise of an official VTT to come by the end of next year...

Can I request y'all *not* increase the subscription up $30 a month? The current content does not merit enough value for such a cost increase.
