Small easy feature request, please add Opensearch support! This will allow Chrome users to hit tab to omnisearch D&D Beyond from the omni bar, like they can for major sites like Google, Wikipedia, etc.
Not so great on suggestions. I was trying to look up a brown bear for my druid for it's stats. Its suggested searches gave me brain bear, brown bean, brown boat, brown been... nothing which is part of the Compendium.
I don't believe the new changes have been rolled out yet. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
The team have made a number of changes to search functionality, as a result of feedback from our testers. :)
They will continue to do so, as and when the need for changes are identified.
Thanks! I don't believe the forum results are all listed last yet, however. For example, search for "ranger".
From what I've seen, they will usually post that they have added the change that was suggested. They've been very responsive as far as making suggested changes that help the related feature as a whole and communicating the changes that have been made. It's been said a few times, but it can't be said enough - this is one of the best betas people have seen in awhile.
Two questions regarding search: 1. Will variant rules be searchable at some point? I'm talking about thins like tumble and overrun that are including in the DMG as variants a DM can add if they choose.
2. Will homebrew items be searchable?
On a sidenote - I know there's still work being done on the search function and that's great, while that is continuing I wanted to tell you, the devs, that I have used DDB in the last two sessions and it's been incredibly useful. I wanted to find a spell on the fly and pulled one up in about 20 seconds, along with finding an item to check its DC and the rule on lighting just to verify I was correct and those each took about 10 seconds to find and read. I can see how this is going to be indispensable as it continues to improve. Thanks for being committed to making this awesome!
Forum results are now set to be shown after results for any other types. however, we are still evaluating other potential changes to the rendering / filtering for search.

I searched for "ranger". I got the actual ranger class first, then the compendium paragraphs that mentioned rangers, then the forum results from threads with "Ranger" in the title. Congratulations, D&D Beyond; you have an effective search engine. Now you just need to fix phases 2 and 3.

And perhaps the suggestions when typing. They really don't make much sense. ;)
Don't know if this is a dumb suggestion but would you be able to put in a function to search for forum members by location? People are always looking for others to connect with so why not facilitate this? I know there is a forum for this purpose but if members could see a listing of who is close to them, then they could reach out more effectively. Putting in your location would still be optional of course for those who wouldn't want to be listed....
So in most search engines using quotes will search for the exact text within the quotes. For example, I just did a search for "manage spells" to try and find references to the manage spells section of the character creator/leveler. Instead of searching that string directly, it searches separately for both manage and spells, giving me A TON of results, which aren't relevant to what I want, and is the exact same thing as searching for manage spells without the quotations.
Additionally, in the global search as has been mentioned several times, forum posts are found. While this in my opinion isn't the worst thing, it does also include the "Forum Games" and "Adohand's Kitchen" forums in the result -- two threads which are completely separate from everything else (for good reason). If you are keeping Forums in the search, you have to remove the "off-topic" ones, because someone searching for real information getting that stuff is completely useless.
Was doing a bit of device testing using the website when I found a small bug. When viewing the website using an iPad Air in landscape mode the search field disappears, all the button links (Builder, MyContent, Character, Compendium, Spells, Items, Monsters & Forums) also disappear. In portrait mode the search field is in the top right and all the buttons are back in place. We went ahead and tested the iPhone 6+ and iPad Pro 12" and they all work just fine - no issues.

I'm seeing the same issue with an iPad 3: No search field in landscape mode. It does show up in portrait mode.
I just purchased the Player's Handbook, and it doesn't appear to be included in the Global Search. For example, if I use it to search for "eldritch knight", the section that comes up is from a separate section on classes, and not the PHB. Because of this, the resulting page has ads on it (because I haven't bought a subscription).
Right now, because of this, I see no way to search my PHB at all, which seems like an oversight. As another example, if I search for a feat, like "alert", and look at the page it takes me to on that feat, I get a page with ads, which I shouldn't see, since I own the PHB.
One, global search is still missing in landscape mode on iPad.
Two, I've bought the PHB, but search results are still missing from it. For example, I searched for "two weapon", and it would give me hits in the combat section of the Basic Rules, and not the PHB.
Global Search is also showing tags and html encoding in search result titles.... For instance, [ spell ]XXXX[/ spell ]

Searching for "poisoned" brings up the poisoned condition 4 times. Perhaps merge the same results?

Am I missing something?
EDIT: Looks like this has been fixed!

Yeah, it's showing the presence of spells in lists, which explains the tags, but I doubt it should be happening.
