OK, so would it be possible to say link something from D&D Beyond? Not posting a link but some kind of smooth integration, or heck maybe just a link. I don't know. Something where they can see a D&D Beyond entry, such as a magic item or creature. Or pull up character sheets and/or campaign information? An app integration along the lines of the Google Drive, Github and others that are part of Slack, just a way to share info (and its snazzy presentation) found on D&D Beyond? I realize control might be an issue, i.e. how do you make it so only those who have paid for the license have access to the information.
fyi - there are already some slack apps for dice rolling and document sharing / screen sharing too. This makes it even easier to implement than a full VTT like FantasyGrounds or Roll20.
Now im wondering about all the lost productivity due to everyone playing D&D at work though... 😂 (jbagnoli is a coworker)
I would think that whatever they do, it would somehow have to pass cred's back to DDB so you can get to your content, otherwise, not sure the use of integration.

I just want to tell everyone "happy gaming" and actually mean it. Whatever your game is, just have fun with it, it is after all, just a game.

Just throwing it out there.
That's all definitely possible - the issue is prioritization. If we see enough interest we could certainly add it to the list!
I'm actually about to run a campaign and have been considering using Slack as a back-channel (rather than run the whole thing in Slack). Here are some uses I'm thinking about:
1- A way to role play between sessions. Keep things going in the downtime. 2- Set up specific channels that characters with special abilities are members of. Example: 2 players have characters with night vision, and see something in the dark that the rest of the party can't. Instead of pulling them aside or announcing to the whole table what they saw, communicate it through the #nightvision channel, via text or even via imagery. Then the players themselves can announce "I see something!", feels more spontaneous and immersive as a result. 3- Direct messaging for when the DM or player needs to communicate to another player secretively.
I'm sure I'll think of more, but I'm going to give this a shot. Obviously some level of integration would be amazing, especially with compendium content.
The whole point to Slack integration in my mind would be able to call rolls based on your character, or even call rules from the content you own/have linked to your slack server/profile. maybe even allow there to be some content to make group rolls against all characters that are active in the channel. at the very least being able to link your characters into the slack server/channel/game etc. To me this would be the real point of linking to slack, mattermost (idea here as it is open source you could host your own for those of us that are paying for the subscription and encourage as an added benefit to subscribing). I would love to be part of such beta testing as this tickles my Work and hobby side in the same project.
We have some internal Slack stuff going on, where the players can type as their characters in some of our campaigns and I as the DM can type as any NPC, etc.
We just have that for fun for our use. What would people like to see out of integration if we did something publicly?
I'd be deliriously happy to see integration for platforms like Slack, Discord, Telegram, etc

We are going to open up the official D&D Beyond Discord server early this year. I'm sure over time we'll see some community (and official) integrations pop up with that.
We have seen far more interest in Discord than Slack, so we are prioritizing there as of now.

This might make me take interest in Discord! I look forward to more news of this development! You and the team are kicking butt!
Has this gone anywhere? I would really love to see Dndbeyond use slack for their Roll20 alternative system for hosting games, and if it included voice channels like Discord, that would be even better! I'm looking to get away from Discord, and Slack looks like an amazing system for that.

Roll20 has nothing to do with DDB, they are completely separate companies.

Read above, there has been more interest in Discord than Slack so they are working on that for now.

As someone who uses both Discord and Slack on a daily basis, I can honestly say Discord is much more suited to online D&D play than Slack, the former being a gaming/socialising tool and the latter being a business tool.

That's unfortunate. As much as I like Discord. China has gotten it's hands on it, and considering Discord doesn't even have a funding model yet, I think it's reasonable to expect that they're going to use it for data collection, A-la facebook, but this time it's China collecting the data, instead of just facebook.

Is that a slack app your admin added into your workspace? Or a built in function of slack?
So how many pages would this thread need to make it a priority? :D

Definitely for integration with Slack.
If I could write a command to cast a spell, long rest, etc, it would be beautiful.
I'm all for Slack integration!

Would love to eventually have full slack integration for character sheets, encounters, lore, rolls, everything!
