Feels a shame to me that if I have the physical copies, I can't add them to DnDBeyond and will have to resort to old pen/paper method of making sheets.
Which isn't too bad, but DnDBeyond just has that ease of creation.
Just read through this entire thread and, while I was disheartened by the answer {Given I have three physical books and zero interest in subscribing to D&DB Plus or whatever}, it does make sense. After all, why sell the books online if such a code system were to exist in a mainstream, accessible manner? It would make no sense.
And so it begins....again. Look I love physical books; but when I go into a book store to buy one, I don't expect to get get a free e-book version to go on my e-reader. It's a different format, so I have to pay for both if I want both. Welcome to the real world.....
It would make sense to transfer a physical book you ALREADY BOUGHT to a digital copy. It would make everything so much more streamlined and create a better sense of cohesion and just make my life better

You can do that by running your credit card through their system. You know, to verify.

Subscribing to dndbeyond plus? You must not understand the different products offered through this website.
Dndbeyond's subscription plans are either hero tier and master tier, not plus.
Dndbeyond's subscription plans only touch on granting access to any published content by the master tier giving 5 instances of sharing of already purchased material with particular campaigns those shares are active on.
Purchasing the digital books through dndbeyond has never required a subscription.
Physical+digital bundles are available through the wotc store and have been for a year now.
It would make sense to transfer a physical book you ALREADY BOUGHT to a digital copy. It would make everything so much more streamlined and create a better sense of cohesion and just make my life better
Hence why they now offer physical+digital bundles through the wotc store.
My brother the DM has brought the physical copy of Out of the Abyss for our next campaign, we were thinking of trying to do it digitally while playing.
So the real question is how does gifting it work if I purchase it for him? Or would it be easier to get into his account and purchase it for him that way, he does not know this is happening yet.
Once you're in your marketplace cart, there is an option for purchasing as a gift. I believe once payment has processed you will be emailed a code. Your brother would need to go to the Redeem Code page in the marketplace.
In order to get the digital version along with the physical books, do we *have* to buy it from the WOTC site?
If I'm going to buy physical books, I'd like to support my local game store/book store in the process. So can I pick up the books at a hobby shop and still have digital codes? Or does WOTC want all the money to themselves?

The digital-physical bundle is only available through Wizard's website.
There is nothing stopping you from purchasing the digital book and physical book separately if you want to support your local store.
As far as I know, there is nothing stopping you from having your local store buy the digital-physical bundle for you either: you pay the store, the store buys the bundle from Wizards' website, you get the digital code immediately, the book gets shipped to the store or your house later (or you can get the book immediately if it is a book the store has in stock, and the store will just have the physical book from the bundle be shipped to the store later to replenish their own inventory). However, do not expect stores to go through all that hassle for free.
the essentials kit what books are you. refering to?
Assuming you're asking what the Essentials Kit:
It's a box set that would come with dice, item cards, a map, a version of the Basic Rules and a short(ish) adventure. It used to come with a code so you could get the DDB version of the adventure as well as three further adventures (turning one of the shortest adventures into one of the longest), plus a discount on the PHB on DDB too.
Unfortunately, likely as part of WotC taking over DDB, they stopped doing the codes. I no longer recommend getting box sets like I used to. It's not terrible, but it's not the great value buy that it used to be.

Wait how do i huy individual content? I don’t want to buy tasha’s cauldron, but i want my playsrs to be able to play as artificers? Where is that?
Go to the marketplace page for the book, here. Scroll down until you get to this (this is for a different book but looks similar):
You can buy each piece a la carte or buy groups at a discount. Whatever you spend on these gets discounted later if you change your mind and want the whole book, so you haven't lost anything. However, if you buy, say, a subclass, it only discounts the book, not the group of subclasses, so if you think you'll want all the Subclasses later (but not the book), then buy them all in one go now to save money.

Guess the old addage is: "It is, what it is."

Cool, i'll speak to him if he objects to it, i'll log into his account and purchase as him lol
Careful about that, it might be a violation of the site's TOS.

Thank for the heads up, been speaking to him about that so we have figured out how we can do that anyhow.

As above, but artificer is somewhat unobvious. You get the class when you buy any of the subclasses.
