is there a way to make a race only be able to wear only light armor? i'm currently making a Intelagent Slime for craps and laghs for an upcomeing campighn (sorry for spelling) but i was woundering if there is a way to stop a race from were only wereing anything but light armor like how would i do that since its main abillaty is dependent on its armor class i thought i'd try to balence it.
I would just tell your players that it can only wear light armor. There might not be functionality for restricting armor, so you might need to just honor system it.
If you mean on D&D Beyond, I'm not sure it's possible to prevent a character from equipping an armor restricted by DM because the rules assume anyone can wear any armor but some some trait, feature or lack of proficiency may have downside effects.
There is also the race that already exists within the Spelljammer 5e setting book, the Plasmoid. I'm not sure if you specifically wanted your own, or if any ooze-related race was acceptable.

I know what you're thinking: "In that flurry of blows, did he use all his ki points, or save one?" Well, are ya feeling lucky, punk?
how would i make it so it woulden't benifit from wearing armor then
You can't.
Again, tell your players about the restriction. That's all you need to do.

Yes, I call this the Barbarian Approach. There's nothing stopping barbs from wearing heavy armor if they somehow get the proficiency, but none of their features work while they're wearing it. Same thing with Monks.

Aarakocra can't fly if they wear heavier than medium armor. You can wear it you just can't do your special thing.

Rather than say that they can't use it, have them lose access to specific racial traits while wearing armor heavier than light.
Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
