When I search for appropriate monsters, I can filter the results to see only "NPC" types for example.
However, this list is populated with many monsters that I actually can't see or use because they belong to a book I have not unlocked. This is annoying, as I keep clicking on things to see more information and all I get is the "You have not unlocked this" popup.
I want to limit the search results to show me only things I can actually USE.
In "advanced search" I could use the Source field to add every book I have purchased, but that's a huge pain in the ass. Is there a checkbox for "Show only unlocked content in search results" ?
Huh. That's a great idea. What's the right place to give feedback/feature requests to DNDB? Because that's one I think many people will appreciate and hopefully isn't too hard for them to make.

Thats a good idea, but they may be reluctant to implement it, as showing all the monsters you COULD have available to you acts as advertising for additional content.
no, it's a great user experience to have to scroll through pages of monsters that you don't have access to while trying to create an encounter on the fly during a game....

If you KNOW that you don't have pages and pages of monsters, why wouldn't you create "encounter on the fly cards" during prep time? That way before you get to the table, if you need a quick on the fly encounter, you can pull out some monsters that you know you have. You know they are available because you went through all of that in prep.
Fix how YOU handle this situation. Don't expect something else to fix it for you.

Since the filters are stored in the URL, you can add your sources one time, do the search, and then save that as a bookmark. Downgrades it from huge pain in the ass to "I guess I can live with that."
In case you weren't aware, this has been implemented. Go to advanced filters, and there is a "source" option. Will only show monsters from the sources you select.

Yeah but this is a pain for somebody like me who has every source EXCEPT Rick and Morty.

Then do source category. 4 button clicks isn't that much of a pain.

There are only 7 things to even be filtered out by R&M content (for context it is 0.3% of monsters, 0.1% of magic items, and 0.0% of everything else). So someone who has every source except R&M can just recognize and skip these very, very few results with ease (IMO).

No, but there should be (not that it would help me, since I bought everything).

Probably the D&D Beyond feedback forum...
Are you sure?
