Been watching all morning since Eberron went live for us. Its been odd watching how they have systematically added the content and removed the old UA content. The player of mine that plays changeling is going to keep Divergent Persona, which is no longer available to Changelings. As of now, he is still that version of the Changeling (UA), but if you search the website, looking for the UA version, it shows it to be behind a paywall for “Archived Playtest” with a link to “Purchase Options” which is broke.
So, do you think they’ll make us pay for “old UA” stuff that is now no longer “official” or will we get access through it (since some of us payed for the UA version of Eberron, but just as a separate option?
I'm hoping that once they get everything sorted back to normal, they'll release the old UA stuff again. Hopefully it's free because I think it would be pretty messed up to charge for stuff that was previously accessible. But this is also the first day, so I'm sure some patience might be worth having.
There is no Archived Playtest bundle to buy, its just a side effect of how they archived the content in order for people who are currently using it to not lose access.
As for the Wayfinder Guide versions of the races, from the Marketplace Description:
The game mechanics here are usable in your campaign, but at this time they aren’t officially part of the game and aren’t permitted in D&D Adventurers League events. These mechanics will evolve based on player feedback. This is a living document, and as these concepts are refined, this book will also be updated for free; so you will be kept up to date with any changes that are made to it. Due to this, the content is not available in the D&D Beyond reader mobile app until a later date.
The WGtE versions of the races were never marketed as being the final versions of the race, hence why they were tagged as UA. Just like the Centaur and Minotaur UA races, which were released in the Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica. It has always been intended that once Last War released, the WGtE races would be updated to match.
I can assure you that if you purchased Wayfinder's Guide to Eberron content, you will not need to repurchase anything. You will get the updated versions of your content for free. The older versions of Wayfinder's content is being turned into UA so you still have access to those characters you made, and new characters will use the updated versions. Sadly that process is taking a little while and is being a bit disruptive to content on the site, but once it is complete you will still have your old characters with the older versions as well as access to the updated content.
Since we are the official toolset we consistently maintain the latest/greatest version of ALL official game rules and mechanics. In this case, WotC does not want outdated/abandoned rules available on our platform. Rest assured, you receive the new version for free.
So if it isn't fixed will we be getting our money back for The Wayfinder's Guide? If not then that will be the end of me ever buying content from the sight again as I should be able to use so thing I already paid for.

It isn’t a bug to be fixed, it’s a process to be completed. Everyone who purchased WGtE WILL have the official races that came with WGtE, even if their access to those races has been temporarily disrupted.
The content in the WGtE was clearly marked as playtest and subject to change when you bought it from the marketplace. Any characters you may have that used the (now old) WGtE version of the races still exist and won't change unless you change their race.
If you absolutely have to have the old WGtE races for new characters, then create race variants, feats, or new races with the missing abilities as private homebrew.
Yes, the published versions in Last War are less powerful than the original Wayfinders Guide. But WGtE Warforged was ridiculously OP. The "Integrated Protection" feature allowed for ACs much higher than the 5e rules system was designed for. That feature as released in Last War is much more sane.
Some of the other changes, like to the changeling, I am not as much of a fan of. I feel like the Last War changeling still needs some sort of ribbon ability, but two skills, two languages, and an at will, non-magical disguise self, with the floating +1 ASI are still a very good deal, and I can see why they removed the things they did.
I will probably be adding in my own homebrew tweaks to most of them. Like giving changeling back the tool proficiency, but not tied to a persona or getting expertise. And making the warforged have the juggernaught and skirmisher as variants.
the other thing to keep in mind with UA/WGtE is that WotC usually puts stuff as UA in an overpowered state, and then tones it down for release, rather than the other way around.
I will miss the envoy subrace myself. I used them to make wizards and the like but I do agree that the ac could be a bit op especially at lower levels. I myself worked it so it was more like the natural armor of other races to make it fit better or for the Juggernaut in heavy armor I made it equivalent to chain mail and then as they got higher levels they could pay to have it upgraded to be magical or equivalent basic and if they could truly afford it magical plate.
True I just wish they kept the Way finder Guide up so that if we wanted to look back at it we could.
I can understand the concept of doing what they've done, but we paid cash money for those UAs, I understand that we get the "Latest and Greatest," but all other UAs were free. These weren't.
It is not about getting the latest and greatest, its that we paid money for Wayfinder's Guide to get those UAs, most UAs are free, and then we paid more money for Rising. These should be treated as different content, else Rising should have been discounted those classes since they were already bought.
I agree with alot of the changes, the Warforged were indeed overpowered to a hilarious amount. I even agree with the changes to the Artificer, it reads far more cohesive than it did before.
My only gripe was with Changeling. That proficiency/expertise tied to a persona is STILL in the racial description (at least hinted at), yet is not included in the stats. The expertise options seemed a bit overpowered, but I feel they should have at least added in a change of proficiencies.
I do like the idea of it being a Racial Feat, if not giving, then enhancing. But oh well.
Was it clear that the first Ebron Book was "Just Playtest" I don't buy physical books, just the ones on DnD digital books. But if you bought a physical copy of the first Ebron Book, releasing a second book that strips away stuff, just seems insane.
I think they are marketing as "Hey you guy Wayfinders, you get all the great content and as an added bonus, you unlock the playtest stuff, which will be replaced by the actual stuff when we release another book and you'll get those for free!"
I agree with that sentiment, that the way that Wayfinders / Last War was rolled out went poorly. I put the blame at Wizards feet, and a lot of it chalked up to trying something new (with the unknown of how interested people would be in Eberron).
For me, lesson learned, don't buy playtest content.
I'm going to be homebrewing tweaked versions of a lot of stuff. Changeling get a tool proficiency and Warforged can still be Juggernaut or Skirmisher.
I agree, lesson well learned. I am still wondering how much the compendium information is different between the two. Wayfinders is far shorter, but it looks like Rising has the same entries. I honestly think that it would have been "worth it" if Wayfinders would have been "part of" Rising and that we would have gotten a discount off Rising.
I put part of the blame at Wizards, but most of the blame on dndbeyond. We ended up buying this content twice, no matter what they try to say. There should have, at the very least, been a discount, because now I have duplicate information in my Sourcebook list, no access to stuff I paid money for (although if I wouldnt have bought Rising I would have gotten the races already, but I wasn't discounted for already owning them), and honestly, I have a very bad taste in my mouth from this experience.
Same here. I bought a lot of stuff from this site but after this I don't think I will be buying anything further. While it is more convenient to have the source books on my phone I think after this I will just buy physical books from now on.

The old UA stuff isn't coming back, paid or free. See this thread: https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/news-announcements/50427-select-ua-being-archived
As part of their license with Wizards, D&D Beyond was required to remove it.
If you still want the old UA versions, you are welcome to use the homebrew tools to make private re-creations of it.
It shows as part of "Archived Playtest" as a result of how it was archived, in order to not break those who were currently using it.

Also, if you just have to have the Divergent Persona for changelings (which WAS pretty cool, IMO), homebrew it as a feat and add it to the character.

Ah well that is lame. The official versions kind of suck in comparison...
