When a book like this tries to cover multiple topics, it often doesn't provide enough substance for each topic.
I'd rather have multiple books that only cover one, maybe two topics at a time.
This way, you're only paying for what you are interested in.
So you didn't like Xanathars Guide to Everything? Or the PHB for that matter? 😜

Well, there's a difference between a core book and a supplement.
I liked XGE, but I was only interested in the spells, and it just didn't feel like there was a enough for the price paid. (Yea, I'm sure others will disagree)
That's why I'd rather see books with a single focus.
That's why I'd rather see books with a single focus.
Bear in mind that if they split the same content into, say, three books, the total cost of the three books would be higher than the cost of one book, because "not everyone wants everything in this book" is already priced in.
If they printed books that were completely full of DM tools, less people would buy them than the Xanathar's book. This current way, they can get out DM tools while still making more money, but these tools are spread through a few books.

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:

That would be fine with me. XGE has 196 pages, 20 of which have spells. That means that I'm paying $50 for approximately 10% of the book. If I'm only interested in spells, I'm throwing $45 away.
Call me crazy, but I'd rather pay $50 for 196 pages of spells.
The economics could make sense if the books were published with a digital option (a .pdf)
In all fairness, DDB was the first service (as far as I know, please correct me if I'm wrong) to allow purchasing of parts of official D&D books for the fifth edition of D&D.
I'm consistently amazed by the number of folks on this forum who state "Oh, I don't actually use the service. I'm just here to talk D&D; we use pen-and-paper sheets for our game".
Which is fine. I assume they're here for compendium content. But man. Seems awful weird to complain about having to buy stuff you don't want in a 5e book when you don't actually have to do that.
Paizo's business decisions have precisely zip-all impact on DDB. When Tasha's Allspice Soup Pot lands, you can buy just-the-spells out of it without any issue. Or just-the-subclasses. Or any other piece of builder content. As a bonus, doing so will prevent the evil nasty rules everybody else kvetched about for thirty pages in the other thread from popping up in your campaigns, if nobody else in them buys the entire book.

I'm not here solely for the forum. Trust me, I deal with enough fan boys on computer gaming sites.
I'm fully aware that being the slightest bit critical of D&D content on this forum, is the equivalent of telling the church choir that God is dead...
My DM purchased one of the packages, and myself and the other players reimbursed him to make it affordable.
And he has a PBH +1 policy, which for me is XGE. Tasha's would have to have better content than XGE for me to switch. I tried out AL. It's not for me.
The fact that they pushed the new character creation system as the headliner of Tasha's, makes me wonder about the other content.
I'll wait for the reviews before I profess my love for the book.
For some reason, I thought I missed the D&D Celebration 2020. I suppose that the months are blurring together just as much as days of the week are for me. :(
At the least, I'll get to see some previews of TCoE when the celebration happens. I just gotta put it in my reminders, if I can remember to do that... X(
There are currently 2 independent (though sponsored) groups previewing TCoE at the celebration that I want to see - at least I think there are 2. I know Viva La Dirt League is going to do it for certain. I can't find the announcement of the other group that I thought I read recently. So, I might be mistaken about them.
I want to see this stuff in action.

Human. Male. Possibly. Don't be a divider. My characters' backgrounds are written like instruction manuals rather than stories. My opinion and preferences don't mean you're wrong. I am 99.7603% convinced that the digital dice are messing with me. I roll high when nobody's looking and low when anyone else can see.🎲 “It's a bit early to be thinking about an epitaph. No?” will be my epitaph.

That’s the problem, one of my players buys EVERYTHING. there is not a snowballs chance on the Bermuda beach that I would simply have those sections not available to everybody else in the campaign since Content Sharing is on. It would be swell if I could choose only share the partial version I will purchase and not his full version too. 🤷♂️

Spells, Monsters, Subclasses, Races, Arcknight Class, Occultist Class, World, Enigmatic Esoterica forms
And frankly, the logical extrapolation on specialized books is splatbooks, and I've seen enough of that from previous editions.

If only there was a digital distribution platform that let you buy the spells independently, either individually or as a bundle? 😉

Was honestly kinda wondering about that, yeah...
All "Doesn't DDB let you buy bits out of the book piecemeal...? Why are people complaining about not having separate books to buy?"
Please do not contact or message me.

Well I was referring to a certain company that begins with "P" that produces .pdf's along with their hard copies.
And yes, I'm aware that WOtC via DDB has chosen a different distribution method. Nonetheless....

Holy gods this....I feel like this year has been a blur of me sitting in front of screens of all kinds with little outside world involvement.
November will be here before we know it and we will be talking about all the crazy combos we have made with the book.
