. People like nice, boring, predictable resources. But those same players are fine with a Bag of Beans or a Deck of Many Things. 🤷♂️
OMG NO....The deck is like the single worst item in DnD. Also its fun to have randomness in a magic item but not in your character features IMO. You can choose to use the item but a core component of your subclass you pretty much have to use or why did you even pick that subclass?
I hate Wild Magic sorcerer for the same reasons.
And funny you are the one quoting statistics to justify the use of feature as you have consistently stated you do not care about "Balance" or "Math" in DnD. Funny how it works for you when you want it to?
Random loss of a subclass due to rolls is the worst possible way to design a subclass with intrinsic mental capabilties....regardless of how often it can happen.

Come on, there’s obviously a huge difference between math as it pertains to balance and optimization and saying “the statistical reality of this feature reinforces the narrative of the mechanic.”

The reason I don’t have to care about it is because I’m educated enough and clever enough to do that math and adjust for those things. One does not have to care if the game is intrinsically balanced when one can fix it themselves. It’s not that I don’t care about “balance” or “math,” it’s that I don’t care if it comes pre-balanced or not because I can mentally do the math to fix it. (In fact, I used to catch a backhand if I couldn’t do 4-digit multiplication in my head without scratch paper, so I know I can fix the math that WotC effs-up. Thanks dad.)
And to be 100% honest, I have never once crapped out my Psi Die on Quigonina:
She keeps using it multiple times per turn and I have never actually “lost her features.” I cannot tell you how many times my Spellcasters have run out of spell slots. 🤷♂️ Not one clue, too many times to count. But, like Shakira’s hips, Quigonina just won’t quit.

I'll confess that on this board, I was very critical of Spell Versatility, fearing that it might give wizards an advantage over sorcerers, but on the actual survey, I feel I was more nuanced. I said I liked the idea, that it might be overpowered for certain campaigns where wizards don't have opportunities to fill up their spellbooks, and that in such cases, the DM could just not allow that feature. I sincerely hope I didn't play a (very small) role in them scrapping Spell Versatility, assuming the leaks are true (which given how ridiculous it is that wizards can switch out a cantrip on a long rest but nobody else can, I'm still holding out hope the leaks are false).
That would be a significant buff compared to the UA. Spell Versatility wasn't available to Wizards. That was reserved for bards, rangers, sorcerers, and warlocks. Cantrip Versatility only allowed for clerics, druids, and wizards to swap out one cantrip for another each time they gained a level, not merely after a long rest.

Ok cool? if you are so educated then you would know an N=1 means jack s**t. Also a lot of that reads as r/iamverysmart and is painfully cringy but I digress....
Overall I am glad it died and I am also glad you are having fun with it despite that. I whole heartily approach people using what works for them and I am genuinely glad it works for you guys.
Maybe everyone should take a step back and calm down, since pointing out one person when many people are getting heated over this in different threads and even off this site is being a bit disingenuous. I'm sure most of us aren't trying to be rude or aggressive but Tasha's has been a rather......tumultuous topic since its announcement and the first bit of news as to what will be in this book were released, and people have been very vocal about their opinions.
We are all very passionate about this game which is great. We all want this game to be the best as it can be, but unfortunately we all will never agree on what will make this game the best it can be. That's ok so long as well can converse about things without feeling like we need to be on the defensive for our opinions regardless of the side of the argument we take.
Going back to Tasha's and the leak, there are things about this leak that I'm not happy with but there are things that I am happy with. I'm still reading what has been complied and gauging opinions from youtube, reddit and here.

Grimus, please stop. That response was wholly antagonistic and unnecessary.
