I hope we get more new Artificer subclasses than just Armorer. Every other class has half a dozen if not more subclasses, Artificer deserves at least two new ones.
It won’t be in this book, only the Armorer has been playtested.
So I've read two articles (Nerdarchy and Gizmodo) saying we're getting the Aberrant Mind sorcerer subclass, but the offical twitter vid announcements and captioned book art says Psionic Soul subclass (the links for these are in previous pages by the way). So I guess Im confused (and maybe moreso hopeful), are getting Psionic Soul or Aberrant Mind or both?
I truly hope for Aberrant Mind. I know it cuts the grass of both GOO and Draconic to an extent but as a HUGE Lovecraft fan (and player in a campaign where Ghaunadaur has been revealed as the BBEG, fearing Hjalmar will die any session and needing a new PC...), it just got me fan boying so hard.
I get the impression that it will be a hybrid of the OG Aberrant Mind and something else.
Agreed and oh boy I jolly well hope so!!!

Yeah, I'd enjoy more options for Artificers as well.
Oh, that reminds me of another thing I'd like to see- a list of class-specific magic items from the DMG that Artificers can attune to. Sure, eventually they get to ignore all restrictions on using or attuning to magic items, but that's not until 14th level.

Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.

It would be nice to have magic items that only artificers can use. I've personally created a Toolbelt of Artificer (like the Hat of Wizardry, but for artificers), but I wish there were actually official magic items specific for artificers.

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
Aside from the bountiful slew of subclasses & class variants...I'm really excited for the book.
To elaborate, I'm eager to hear the "voice" of Tasha as she provides commentary to these new features (Xanathar had been very entertaining with their quirky remarks about various classes).
I also enjoy learning more about these "named" spellcasters that have spells named after them...I know very little about them, but the legacy of their spells makes them seem so grandiose...
For example, I only learned who Mordenkainen was through recent publications...and have learned that he is obsessed with cosmic balance, is a bit of an egomaniac, and probably isn't the best person to do favors for.
Tasha is apparently one of the original witches, trained by Baba Yaga herself, has covorted with demons...including a tryst with Grazzit, a Demon Lord...wrote a famous book on demonology...and is apparently selfish & elusive.
Such a background assumes villainy...but I'm learning that Tasha might be more neutral than her demonic escapades imply.
So that'll be fun to read about.
That...and the ART.
That Artificer Artillerist sample art with the dragon-shaped cannon was SICK.
Finally having some artistic representations of these new subclasses will be great to see.

Also VERY keen to learn more about Tasha the same way I learn more about Xanathar than I could reading wikis or forums. She also had odd alliances with Zuggtmoy apparently. Yep, very keen for the theme of this book indeed.

PSIONICS =/= SPELLCASTING
For the record, I agree with this continued proclamation of yours. Im not sure we ned a new rules set fr psionics when they can be done with existing material and options using flavour. Im achieving a 'psionics' based class with a whispers bard quite effectively.

My only concern is the amount of re-engineering or parallel engineering DDB may have to do with character generation, where one is currently able to pick "elf" and the mods and proficiencies and traits get plopped into the character automatically vs. this new method where it's implied a choice of race or species is a lot more flexible or the traits one would pick up through race selection are no longer bound to the choice. Coupled with the fact that these will be considered optional character generation methods, I sense a coding headache in the DDB crew starting to foment.
So while I'm curious and interested in the book, I got a feeling we may have to be patient for DDB to rollout complete integration of the content into DDB.
I think that this is a book I will order in hard copy and wait to order on DDB until they've completed the coding upgrade. I'm hoping that it's somewhat close in the future, with the recent progress, but I'd rather homebrew than preorder.
I am very excited for this book, though! I really can't wait to see how the character customization works in practice, especially for min-maxers.
Has anyone determined whether or not the Class Variant Features will be in this book or not? Also... was this announcement a surprise or something 'cause don't DDB normally have a marketplace slot for announced items on the same day?

"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation."
I would think that the reason that the class feature variants and such have been a focus of the Dev Updates is that Jeremy gave Adam and Todd a little push that they need to get ahead on this. There has been a large focus in the first half of this year that has pushed other things like temporary effects and inventory aside to make sure that DDB can have the integration they need for the new book. That's how it looks in my opinion.
CFVs are in this book, yes. Wizards' official announcement page mentions "delve into new class features and new feats", which can only really be interpreted one way - this book has CFVs in it. Thus why so many people are giving DDB the Lazy Eye and saying "Y'all got a little under three months left to figure out the mountain of codework you keep SAYING is 'only a few weeks away!' but never deliver on before the deadline hits. Stepponnit, bois."
Just because it's in a published book doesn't mean that DDB will have the feature working at time of publication. There's still stuff from the Basic Rules that don't work. I know they're working on it, and they might be somewhat close, but until it's live and works I'm not purchasing the product here. I'm very much a 'buy it only once I need to use it' person.

Eh, I've been able to provide very flexible race options using the Homebrew system here where I was using a version that was... about a year old now (I believe some of the subsystems in homebrew have since been updated) I think. So I don't think that'll be any big issue for them to implement. The hang up seems more to be around the classes which don't have terribly flexible subsystems, i.e. you can't homebrew a base class.

I think it was very obvious that the Class Feature Variants were always going to make it to a published book. I've said so many times which is one of the reasons why I've harped on it for taking so long to implement here. Maybe DDB were told not to bother implementing the UA versions 'cause they'd have to have the version for the published rules ready by November. Would also explain why it's been 9 months since the UA version was released with almost no visible movement on them. You've got three months, DDB... get on it.

Is there any other way to interpret "New class features" outside of a system that allows players to...have new class features? You need somebody to specifically and explicitly call out "The Class Feature Variant UA document is being printed in this book" before you'll buy it?
I don't recall which article it was, but somewhere in the media barrage at the start of the thread, J-Craw talked about CFVs specifically and them being the most popular UA ever, and how they're a really important part of Wizards' new plan/vision for creating characters.
I mean...if that's not enough I don't know what to tell ya. Outside of that old yarn about there being two kinds of people in the world: those who can extrapolate from incomplete information.

Psionic soul would be a great name for an psionic based monk, they really should have recycled the psionic disiplinces into the monk as an four elements style subclass once the mystic flopped, would have been perfect as like an racial class for the githzerai or just as an general temporary psion and as an improved four elements monk since each disiplince included several effects.
