I'm late, but is there a feature to hang equipment from the backpack? I know it's a pet peeve of some players that the starting equipment overloads the backpack when some of it can be hung on the outside of it.
I add a second backpack, then customize to name it "Backpack (outside)", then Override the Cost, Weight, and Capacity Weight to 0.

Isn't that what the plain old "Equipment" is for - your stuff that's not inside of stuff?
Not sure who you're replying to, but if you're talking about stuff on the outside of backpacks, then the benefit of having your rope/bedroll/etc. in a container called "Backpack (outside)" means that you can unequip that to represent setting down your backpack, and the contents won't count towards your carry weight.

Yup, since the purchase they've killed feature development/improvement entirely. Nothing to sell there. The only work being done on the site is content and dice, stuff they can sell.
Best guess: never. Not enough profit in it when a relatively small percentage of players engage with the system at all in the first place.
can't engage with a system when it's just inadequate... How difficult can it be to add a few text boxes to create a simplistic campaign journal or notes or whatever...
They haven't done anything new in at least 2 years

Every campaign has two text boxes labelled "DM Notes (Private)" and "DM Notes (Public)" on the main page.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious. But that's absolutely basic and laughable to use.
For a website that hasn't been adding new features for 2... 3 years now ? They should do _something_. I'd be happy with anything at this point.

You've got the Other bit of the Notes section on your character sheet. If you really want to take notes on Beyond, you could just use that. I don't see why you can't just use something else for notes, though.

Look at what you've done. You spoiled it. You have nobody to blame but yourself. Go sit and think about your actions.
Don't be mean. Rudeness is a vicious cycle, and it has to stop somewhere. Exceptions for things that are funny. Go to the current Competition of the Finest 'Brews! It's a cool place where cool people make cool things.

As a DM it's weird to ask for a little bit of progress on the inadequate tooling they have on this website without people jumping out of every bush to excuse an utter lack of development.

Just odd.
Seems like a bit of an overstatement. Two people pointed out that there are a couple places to take notes when you said there weren't any. And saying "Beyond never claimed to be a notes app" isn't exactly excusing the lack of development.

I never said there weren't any. I just said it's inadequate. And then people pointed out there's 2 text fields (yay) and players can use the notes on their character sheet (don't see how that helps for me as DM).
my point still stands: zero additions to the website for proper campaign management in the last few years.

Nobody ever tried to dispute your point. It's just that the way you made your point was very weird. D&D Beyond has never claimed to be a notes app, and most people aren't clamoring for it to become one, so that's certainly not the first change that would be made should development continue. Despite this, you phrased it as the bare minimum.

That's just simply not true, I never made those statements. But fine, be stuck on that and ignore the entire "they haven't done anything to help with campaign or game management" part :p as i clearly said "i'd be happy with anything" .

So when does phase 2 come? You know, since development on all things promised was halted over a year ago when DDB was acquired?

This is a super cool and useful feature!
next it would be nice to be able to give these item containers from player to player.
This way when the rouge pick pockets the bard, he can now have his juggling set of balls in the custom bag “ball sack” full of balls of all sizes.
