This feature is finally useable. It now does what it should have done from release. Calculates contents of each containers weight, adjust total weight for magical containers and adds coin weight. Thank you.
Some additional features that would be nice:
Ability to move custom items into different containers. This would be the most useful of these additional features as it can be used to overcome other limitations.
Allowing you to note where coins are stored i.e. coins in a portable hole or bag of holding should not add to total weight. At the moment coins in currency section add to total weight as you can not specify where they are stored. This could be done with custom items if custom items could be moved into different containers. You could create a custom item for the coins to place in your container.
Ability to put containers in containers, i.e. sacks in back pack.
Overall much better usability now than on release.

I posted this in a different subforum, but here are some workarounds for dealing with coin weight:
Blowgun needles weigh the same as coins and come in sets of 50 to make a pound. So one workaround is to add a bundle of them for each type of coin you want to track for your heavy loot load in a bag of holding, then change the name to "gold pieces" etc., override the bundle value (i.e., 50gp for a bundle of gold coins), and finally set it to the number of coins in your bag.
If you want to track currency stored in different places this way, but also want to track the sum total at the top, you can go to character settings to select "ignore coin weight" so that the sum-total set isn't adding to your weight.
I've also renamed "Jug or pitcher" to serve as an empty sack & have the proper "container" tag. It helps that now non-custom items can have decimal numbers entered into the override cost & weight blanks.
It'd definitely be nice to be able to put stuff inside stuff that goes inside other stuff, but I imagine that'd be an extra dimension of challenge to implement...
Another thing they've added is allowing you to add another stackable item that you already have in inventory. So, you can add Rations to your pouch, make it 2 items, and reduce the number of Rations in your backpack by 2, to represent how you actually carry things.
For a coins example, the coins in our party purse (considered separate from my personal coin), I used Eye Agate customized to be "Platinum" and overrode the weight to 0.02, and for "Gold" Banded Agate customized to weight 0.02 and cost 1.
I tried using blowgun needles but for some reason the container's load weight rounds up weird when you have less than the total 50 from a bundle.

I don't get the option, I'm not a sub at the moment. Do I need to be? I did log out then in, not sure what else I could try to trigger it. I'll try dumping internet files.

Yes, the Coins thing is currently in beta, so it's sub-only.
Personally I'd been using stacks of banded agate customized to Weight 0.02, Name "Copper Pieces" or whatever, and Cost 0.01 (for cp), and so forth. That lets me keep the money amounts for Party Funds separate from my personal money, and also the Coins beta doesn't let you Move coins between containers, only Add/Remove.

Simply to put the question out there on the heels of Naruhoodie's post: are there currently plans to allow moving of coins between containers? I know one can 'move' them via adding/subtracting coins in sequence, but that can get a little fiddly at times especially when managing multiple currencies. Not to mention the potential for Creative Accounting(C). To be clear, I'm deeply a fan of even the existing tool alone, letting me track where coins are is the last piece I needed to make my players hate my liver the next time I DM ("Variant encumbrance and coin weight are in effect, y'all had best figure out some strongboxes..."), but moving coins around more easily would be a boon if it was possible.
I have been playing around with moving coins around between different containers to reflect how I am really carrying them. Doing this I have found when coins are in a containers other than equipment they do not add to the container weight or total weight. Is this a glitch in the Beta or is there a setting I need to change that I have missed? I have checked that ignore coin weight is not selected.
On one character I currently have 624 coins in the backpack with no other equipment and its content weight is (0/30Ibs) when it should be (12.48/30Ibs). I have the same issue in all containers.

I've found the same, that the coins don't count towards the content weight of the container. But they do count towards your total weight, if you have the container equipped.

It's felt like they've done multiple phases, honestly. First having containers be a thing, then making them track the weight of contents and be unequippable so they don't count towards carry weight, having bags of holding not count their contents towards carry weight, supporting custom items in containers... Edit: Supporting coins in containers...

I don’t see a way to put coins in containers.

I'm late, but is there a feature to hang equipment from the backpack? I know it's a pet peeve of some players that the starting equipment overloads the backpack when some of it can be hung on the outside of it.

Not yet. I simply customize the outside items to be weightless and add their weights to the backpack weight itself.

Boy oh boy, it sure would be a delight if cointainers were almost ready to exit subscriber alpha... What a delight indeed...
Heh. What a delight that would be.

They never give ETAs, so there’s no way to know when until it is released. I will say I’ve not heard it discussed in the Dev Updates of late.
