Welcome one and all, to the Witchlight Carnival! A place of joy and wonder to all who visit.
The Witchlight Carnival comes to your world once every 8 years. The wonder this place brings is heard all throughout the land, but something is amiss. People are disapearing, and it's up to you to save the Carnival.
Hello All,
I am a relatively new DM looking for a group of 4-6 players.
This is a campaign starting at level 1, and going to level 8. Strength is not a necessity in this campaign, so I am looking for characters with a more in-depth character background, rather than someone who is the team "tank."
Stats will be obtained through the point buy system.
All official races are approved, and the feylost and witchlight background are suggested, but not required
This is meant to be a fun, upbeat campaign, so if you wish to join, please keep everything PG.
1: What would the desired post-frequency be? (In a couple days, gonna get a better idea of how much free-time I'll have. So want I to double-check if I'll be able to meet expectations there.)
2: Will there be content sharing? (I'm thinking of a Fire Genasi Druid and MotM's version is better suited than the EE version to ordering the traits to fit with the WIS-focus of a Druid.)
Background: After many failed attempts to make in the local Calligraphy guild and managing to run up a massive debt, Ula decides to skip town and try her luck on the road, hoping to either finally prove she is capable, or at least make enough money to settle a very dangerous debt.
BTW, I can commit to posting pretty regularly during the week and usually on the weekends as well unless I'm playing my in person DnD games!
Backstory: Originally from a realm on the moon of world of Exandria. Rafell is a scholarly cleric who traveled to the material plane not on his discretion but a deity who uses his him as a conduit to obtain knowledge in the material plane. He hears word of a carnival which he has not really experience. He's excited to relax and enjoy his time, but he always seems to find himself absorb in all the history and people from certain events. How did it start? How does it keep going? Who keeps this going? He never lets go and his thirst for knowledge ruins the fun for him.
Hi! I would very much be interested in joining. I've been really excited to play this module but haven't been able to find a consistent group. I can commit to 1-3 posts per day long term.
Race: Loxodon Class: Cleric (Knowledge Domain) Background: Custom background (using rules from Tasha's) Backstory: Gaja was a carefree young loxodon boy when he first visited the Witchlight Carnival. It was the first time in his life he had seen trees. He fondly recalls the wonder he felt at that visit. Afterwards, he returned to his regular life in the city working for a large company in a basement office making motivational posters (can adjust the city based on setting). His favorite pastime was to whittle tiny statuettes of trees and fey creatures from whatever sticks of wood he could find. He studied the fey using the company's library. But somewhere along the line, Gaja lost that sense of wonder and carefree joy. Many years passed, but when he heard the Carnival was coming back, he knew he had to visit it again, for perhaps he could recapture that feeling.
Background: Feylost (Palifwan grew up in the Feywild and stumbled into the Material Plane, rather than the other way around)
Backstory: Palifwan was always a precocious young Harengon. He took to magic at a young age and learned quickly, always pestering his mentors for more things to learn and chaffing under their reminders of patience and prudence. When he wasn't nose deep in a book, Pal loved to explore. One day his exploration led him to a place where the bounds between the Feywild and Material Plane were thin. Pal unknowingly passed through to the Material Plane and discovered he could not find his way back home to the Feywild! It has been a number of years since then and Pal has grown into a young adult, but he still seeks knowledge and a way to return home.
Hello, I'd love to play! I have DM'd a number of PbP games on the dndbeyond forums but find myself to be a bit of a forever DM. The few games I've participated in as a player have fizzled out shortly after starting. I can commit to 3-5 posts most days, at least once on weekends.
Backstory: Hormin is a retired Folk Hero. He grew up the son of a woodcarver and a weaver, learning both of these tools from his parents. His small village was struck by a flood, where he sparked to action and led those he could to as safe of a space as he knew. He decided to start adventuring in the later years of his life as he wants to help more people rather than carve and weave for the rest of his life. He is a married man who has two grown sons, one growing up to be a carpenter and another becoming a courier. He heard tales of the Witchlight carnival from his son, and set off for it after bidding well to his wife, promising to return.
Backstory: Puffin (Alias) has been a part of the witchlight on and off their entire life, not always Puffin, not always working, but they are experienced and jovial and very much enjoy exploring the attractions with newcomers and pretending to be a newcomer to less seasoned workers.
Background: Entertainer (Feylost could work though. Don't have access to it on DnDBeyond yet)
Bandan has is currently trying to preserve his hide, after a satirical lyric of a local lord went unappreciated by his high nobelness. Moving from town to town looking for new opportunities and new patronage, Bandan heard of the Witchlight Carnival's arrival and went seeking new songs and stories to share.
Born within the feywild, Malendir grew up, raised as a noble within the Summer Court. His family a prominent House that had supported the Summer Queen for eons, and he was the latest child. His childhood, much like any noble, was filled with pampering and being told how amazing he and his family was. Tutors came to him from across the feywild and from across different courts to teach him diplomacy, arts, and how to hold a weapon.
However, Malendir was a child filled with curiosity, and when he learned from an eladrin wizard that another world paralleled their own, he longed to see it, to satiate his curiosity. When his older siblings learned of this however, they warned him going to the material plane would only bring him trouble. And for a time, Malendir heeded their warning, focusing on becoming a knight to the Summer Queen.
At the age of 87, while patrolling a valley of migrating boulders, he saw his first human. A ranger that had accidentally stepped into the feywild and he became fascinated by him. After helping him back into the material plane, Malendir decided to follow him through and roamed the living world. Being fascinated by every little thing. But, the one thing that fascinated him most was how the mortals seemed so devout despite their race, even his elven cousins. With the help of his human companion, he found a temple dedicated to the fey courts, long abandoned. He walked within the derelict temple and knelt before its shrine, calling out to his Queen, who commanded him to be her will in the material plane while he was there.
His family hearing of this were outraged as his actions would bring shame on them. His father appeared to him and told him not to return to the palatial grounds until he found a way to restore his honour. Years have passed since then, his human companion long dead, and Malendir now believes he can find his honour in the realm of his birth.
Story: Kylbink won one of her prized possessions—Stabby the Incredible Talking Dagger!—at the Witchlight Carnival sixteen years ago. She liked the pretty colors on its handle, and how cool she felt with such an obviously awesome tool on her belt. Her parents liked how the 'Arcane Intelligence' spoke in knife safety tips, such as "always clean me after each use!" and "use your other hand to block your opponent's momentum!".
At the Witchlight Carnival eight years ago, Kylbink searched in vain for the carnival game where she'd first won Stabby, having misplaced her original some months previously. Although she'd been given an actual dagger as a replacement, Stabby had felt more like a friend than a toy. Much to her delight, though, when she returned to the Material Plane, she heard a familiar voice whispering to her: "Excellent...yes, this will make for a worthy upgrade."

Discord play-by-post lover. Hater of westmarches. Just gimme some character driven gameplay please.
No, this will be on play-by-post. But great question!

Couple questions.
This is a signature. It was a simple signature. But it has been upgraded.

The desired post-frequency will be anywhere from 1-3 a day. Weekends excluded, because those are wildcards for me.
Unfortunately, I do not have content sharing, because I have the physical materials, rather than the digital ones.
