How Karlis Came To Baldur's Gate Not long after coming of age, Karlis came to Evereska, curious to explore the world of Toril. Growing restless in the confines of the city, he heard of a dark spell that cast a perpetual shadow over the north, allowing orcs and drow to make war with the surface dwellers. Seeking to make a name for himself as a warrior, he traveled many miles to the Silver Marches to join the fight against the powers of darkness. Arriving at Silverymoon, he found that the city had pledged aid to the dwarves battling the enemy but hadn't delivered it. Karlis raised a small band of citizens who were believed that it was necessary to take the fight to the orcs. They elected him their sergeant and marched to Sundabar a short distance to the east. However, they were unprepared for the waves of orcs that besieged the great dwarven city and were nearly slaughtered to the last man. Only Karlis and two others survived to flee back to Silverymoon. Disillusioned, he returned to Evereska, wondering what he had done wrong. Then he heard of the disappearance of Elturel, and made his way down the Winding Water to Baldur's Gate in hopes of finding like-minded adventurers to investigate.
Name: Theodoric of The IronHeart Age: 110 Race: Mountain Dwarf Background: Noble Backstory: Prince Theodoric is the first son of Lord Gundarr Greatshield and was first in line for the throne of the Ironheart, a powerful Dwarven settlement. He grew up as all nobles should, trained in in the lore of the dwarves and the ways of battle. As a young man barely of age, he witnessed a terrible calamity. The miners of the IronHeart unearthed a dreadful evil deep within the mountain. Savage creatures surged from the earth, slaughtering every dwarf they could find. With the Ironheart facing extermination, a desperate plan was hatched. The fort's vault held a relic of an ancient battle, an orb dripping with dark and demonic magics. It would turn anyone who touched it into a mindless, bloodthirsty berserker. The plan was to have members of the clan take in the power of this orb and seal them within the mine until the evil was destroyed. 50 dwarves volunteered, Theodoric the youngest of them. When they unsealed the mine, only seven survivors remained. But the curse had not finished its work yet. The berserker spirit carried on within the survivors, and soon the elders of the IronHeart decided it would not be safe for them to remain in the dwarven lands. Theodoric was removed from the line of succession, and he and the other six survivors were banished from the dwarven realm. Theodoric now roams the land, looking for a way to remove the berserker curse that rages within him. https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/80742862
Hannibal dust wood has been living his whole life in the wilderness, and decided to join the nearest settlement and help people using his skills. That simple.
I am not extremely experienced with D&D5e, so looking for a good chance to learn it :)
This is my character idea:
Character: Telurion
Background: Soldier
Class: Paladin
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Character Details: Telurion does not look like your average knight in shining armor paladin - he has dark disheveled hair, and piercing deep brown eyes. After having been through some tough times in his life, he has a grim posture for those who meet him initially. It takes him a long time to make friends, but once he does, he is a steadfast companion. His gear is not always in pristine condition, but he is trying to improve on his discipline.
Brief Backstory: Telurion comes from an orphan background in the streets, after his parents both died of extreme poverty and sickness - he expected to find kindness and compassion from the neighborhood and other merchants who many times rubbed shoulders with his parents, but he was wrong... Eventually he turned to a life of petty crime just so he could survive, but things were not going well even so. He was 'rescued' by Talian - a wandering warrior who took pity on the starving child, and who would become his mentor in those early years. She taught him the value of trust and friendship when he was at his worse, and brimming with rage for those who did nothing for his parents when they so desperately needed help... And then she was gone,. leaving him with only a cryptic farewell note (which I will detail more as/if we move along), and an apology for stealing away like a thief in the night. She wrote it had to be done, but did not explain anything further, writing only that he was prepared to face the world at large, and should not hesitate in doing so. Telurion managed to find from a guard on watch in which direction Talian had followed out of the city, and in the next day he departed after her without thinking twice. So far he has had no luck in finding any clues about her whereabouts, but he does not intend to give up! He knows she has headed toward Baldur's Gate, and is determined to find her!

Leryin - Eladrin (Spring) Bard
The third son of a minor merchant lord in Baldur's Gate, Leryin was sent away to study at the great universities in the hopes that he would make a name for himself in academia rather than in base trade. There he studied the histories of bygone times, and although he was no outstanding talent, he was diligent and very good at avoiding the scorn of his tutors, in between the wild capers he engaged in with his peers. While with time, he became fluent in language and rhetoric, it wasn't history, but folk tales and legends that captured his imagination, gleaned from dusty tomes and stories told in dimly lit taverns alike. After graduation, he initially found a place as an archivist, however, his restlessness and often impatient nature saw him butting heads often with his superiors, which only cemented his desire to find (what was, in his mind) more worthy work to dedicate himself to. Rather than spending the rest of his life as a historian, forever poring over scraps of texts and arguing over minutiae, he desired to compose a story that would stand the trials of time and propel him to fame, or, even better, witness and chronicle events worthy of legends himself.
The disappearance of Eturel provided the perfect opportunity for him to return home, citing a desire to help his family in these tumultuous times. Privately, however, he knows his main goal is to investigate the source of the recent discord (and put an end to it, he supposes). In the meantime, he continues to write short scripts in the vain hope that someone will recognize his talents.
I would like to thank everyone who posted an application, you've all done a wonderful job and have made it incredibly difficult for me to pick the right team for this. Seriously, good job all of you.
I'll be sending out a PM for those who have been accepted shortly. If you haven't been chosen, don't lose heart, if anyone drops out of the campaign I'd be more than happy to bring anyone of you along that's already applied and still wants to jump in!
