So, I'd like to recruit for a Play-by-Post campaign that's based around a barbarian tribe.
To be clear, this does not mean all players need to be barbarians, as there are many classes that would, logically, exist within such a tribe. Druids, sorcerers, warlocks, clerics of certain deities, and rangers, for example, could also be in the tribe.
Even so, the idea is to play as members of a nomadic tribe living in the wilds.
Name: Thokk Thunderfoot Race: Goliath Class: Druid (Circle of the Moon) Ability scores:161216131711 Appearance: Thokk stands tall and imposing, even among his Goliath kin. His broad shoulders and muscular frame speak of a life spent in the wilderness, honing his body to withstand the harsh mountain environment. His skin is weathered and tan, bearing the scars of battles fought and adventures undertaken.
Thokk's most striking feature is his hair, which flows down his back in thick, braided strands. It is a deep, earthy brown, often adorned with feathers and beads that signify important events in his life. His eyes are a piercing blue, sharp and observant, always taking in his surroundings with a keen awareness.
In battle, Thokk wears armor made from the hides of beasts he has slain, each piece crafted with care and reverence. He wields a massive great axe, its blade etched with ancient symbols that channel the power of the earth itself. Despite his formidable appearance, Thokk carries himself with a quiet confidence, a testament to his deep connection to the spirits of nature.
Background: Thokk was born into the Insert Clan Name Clan living off the land and embracing a life of primal strength. From a young age, Thokk showed a deep connection to the spirits of nature, often disappearing into the wilderness for days on end. The tribe's shamans recognized this connection and began to train Thokk in the ways of the druid, seeing him as a bridge between the tribe and the natural world.
As Thokk grew, so did his abilities. He learned to shape-shift into the forms of the beasts that roamed the mountains, becoming a fearsome predator when the tribe was threatened. He also developed a keen understanding of the natural world, able to predict storms and find food and water in the harshest of environments.
Thokk's role within the Thunderfoot Clan is unique. While he is respected for his strength and prowess in battle, he is also revered as a spiritual leader, often mediating disputes within the tribe and offering guidance on matters of the spirit. Thokk embraces this dual role, seeing it as his duty to protect both his people and the natural world they call home.
It's one of the Paladin subclasses from the Player's Handbook. Has a nature theme to it, which I feel fits well with an Outlander background and could fit in with a barbarian tribe. (Gonna make another post later with a link to the character sheet and more details.)
Dice rolls didn't take. (Editing a post is one way to try fixing that, but is highly prone to also adding the "manipulated dice rolls" warning.) So just gonna try that again,
Those are nice. Gonna use the Tasha's optional rule for racial abilities to swap +2 STR for +2 CHA if that's fine. (If you'd prefer not to use the Tasha's optional rule, that's fine too.)
Name: Tambor Arinahm Race: Half-Orc Class: Paladin, Oath of the Ancient Background: Outlander Sheet: https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/119118869/BuwOXX Backstory: Tambor was born and raised in [TRIBE]. She always loved the wilds, the untamed wilderness. In truth she doesn't understand how others would willingly live away from the wilderness in places like cities. Alongside protecting her people, she felt a need to protect nature too. And so she devoted herself as a paladin. Personality: I see her as generally friendly amongst tribal members. Feeling a sense of duty to them. (Very tribal sense.) Has a sense of wanderlust that keeps her in love with a nomadic lifestyle. And not keen on the pomp and circumstance of fancier, "civilized", folk. Is okay with peaceful solutions, but very willing to resort to violence.

Please let me know if this would interest you.
Can I be a rogue?
Can you imagine a rogue character who fits the sort of nomadic, living in the wild aesthetic that this campaign is going for? If so, definitely yes!
Alternatively, I could also create a different campaign specifically for "criminal element" types of characters, where rogues would be perfect.
Oh, you don’t have to rewrite your entire campaign, but yes, the character I have in mind is very much a criminal and not an outlander.
Ok. I might reach out to you about a criminal underworld campaign, then. I'll see if people are interested in this barbarian one first, though.
What level would this be starting at? Got some possible ideas in mind.

Campaigns:
Wildemount: The Felderwin Irregulars (2020) - Balassar Silverstone - Dragonborn Fighter (Rune Knight) Lv. 5 | Rise of TIamat - Aiwin Aralana - Wood Elf Fighter/Ranger (Arcane Archer/Gloom Stalker) Lv. 9
I was thinking maybe level 5?
Sounds like we are off to a good start!
Awesome. And any preferred method of stat generation?
Primary idea in mind is a Half-Orc Oath of the Ancients Paladin.

I am interested. Would be similar to a Cuman, a nomadic cavalier/fighter type-think Mongol from the steppes
No preferred method. You can build as you will.
Please enlighten me about "Oath of the Ancients."
That sounds like a fun approach!
Alrighty. Then I'll follow Hambergler's method. (Point Buy as a backup.)

Edit: the one below didn't take, so gonna try the edit here and hope it just works.
