Doc will prepare to dive in should it look as if one of the party members is drowning. Beforehand, he'll drop whatever items he has by the shore if necessary.
Both Quilqwen and Violet go under a few times, but just about hold onto the rope. By the time they get to the other side they are out of breath and coughing a little water.
As Violet coughs out water, she pulls down her mask to breathe, cursing at everything as she does, "Cough-last time-cough-I try to sa-cough-your sorry-cough-ass."
Coughing profusely, and looking pretty wrecked with his feathers all soaked. Quilqwen props himself up on hands and knees trying to stretch out his water logged wings to start drying. it requires most of his effort but he manages, between heavy breaths "Understood Violet. I am truly sorry and grateful. My life is in your debt."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Estellen grimaces, looking at the water and his companions on the other side. "I swear, if we ever reach a point like this again, we better have some sort of raft or boat."
He'll then begin to pull himself across the river, using his mage hand to hold his most valuable belongings (spellbook etc.) above the water while he goes.
Estellen's head never drops below the water surface as he pulls himself along the rope. Like the others he emerges soaked, but his head, hair, and valuables are all bone dry.
"First, we ought to find the party sent to accost us, and lure them into terrain where we'll be at an advantage and destroy them. After that we should go to their main camp and attack them head on if we can beat them, or merely cause chaos if we can't."
(Also, short rest now? Estellen is out of spell slots and could use it to arcane recover 1 of them)
”I apologize. I was unclear. I think I saw a large cat of some sort eating the goblin that got away. I do not think there will be a party looking for us. .... I also question the wisdom of attacking an encampment of superior numbers head on.”
The last part of that is said with great hesitation.
(I would suggest a short rest, as you'll level up during it. It is up to you if you want to roll for hp increase (re-roll 1's once) or take the standard value. You don't regain any lost hp for levelling up (e.g. if you're 8/10 and level up you'd be at 14/16). This is the same with spell slots/limited use abilities.)
"Well, if they're not expecting us, we can at least cause them some pain. If we bombard them from afar with magic, perhaps we'll be able to scare them into submission."
(+1 vote for short rest. Estellen will take the fixed gain)
Quilqwen
Working to keep his wings out of the water, Quilqwen starts to pull himself across the river on the rope.
(Guessing on the roll let me know if I’m wrong)

(Eek)
Seeing Quilqwen struggling, Violet sighs as she swims alongside him and attempts to assist him.
(Not sure if that helps, but I'll have her make a roll as well)
Athletics: 1
(XD omg, we got the samething)
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
(Welp, two of the party are about to drown)
Estellen will use his mage hand to try and help Quilqwen stop drowning (I know it can only pull 10 lbs, but advantage perhaps?)

(Of course the wizard is the most athletic of us)
(The 700 year old wizard, mind you)

Drying off his clothes, Estellen will address the group, "Let us rest briefly before taking on these orcs. We should come up with a plan of attack"
Doc is simply sitting down in the dirt, deep in contemplation. "Yes, wizard -- let's. What is it you are suggesting we do?"

“I do not have lots of long range attacks but I can work as a defensive block for the rest of you.“
(Short rest and leveling up sounds good to me.)
(I’ll be trusting to the fates for my HP)
