As the floor shakes, Ebokk just about loses his footing, but he throws out a hand and catches himself against the wall to stay upright. There is a crash behind you, and when you glance back, you can just make out a cloud of something coming out of the double doors ... and it appears the magical darkness is dimming as well. What do you do?
Ebokk would continue to run but look back mostly to see if he is not in last position. His short legs will be moving as fast as he can but he will make sure hes closest to danger.
OK, this probably won't be as fun through PbP as it would be if we were all in person, but hopefully it will add a little excitement and danger to this next part of the Vault.
First of all, Maldorn, from what you can tell, the torches in the chamber where you fought Raman have all gone out. But then you also notice that you can't see the large doors as well as you think you should be able to as if the magical illumination in the looooooong corridor isn't working quite right at that end anymore.
How this next part with go: On your turn,
Tell me how far you want to move. Each turn will be two turns, so you can walk up to twice your speed or dash up to four times your speed.
Tell me if you want to do anything else as an action or bonus action on your turn, which, again, is two turns, so you can do two actions and/or two bonus actions.
Make a D100 roll and then either an acrobatics or athletics roll in case I need it.
If you fall, it will take half your movement to stand. So, if you have 30 feet of movement, standing takes 15 feet, so you'd have 105 feet left to dash (because each turn is two turns).
You can give me some if ... then statements if you so choose.
Each post will have a spoiler where I'll keep track of how far you've moved. Please don't read it.
Jambiya intends to run, run, run. Move and Action to Dash for all 120’.
If she falls, she will get up and keep going. If someone else falls, she will keep going with the intent of scouting or clearing the way. It may not help, but if the path looks clearer on the walls or the ceiling, she will not hesitate to traverse those (with her slippers).
All Eric has is one use of Luck and also his halfling ability to reroll 1s. No inspiration, no mantle of inspiration, no spells that could be helpful in a chase to the exit. So he uses his action to dash 25, move to move 25, and bonus action to mayyyybbbbbeeee move more? Which isn’t in the rules for bards? But he’s trying? and then again.
So 100’ for Mr Hillfall plus using halfling one rerolling to do that and luck to reroll anything terrible.
Maldorn will start with a full move and dash, for a total of 120ft. For his bonus action, he'll tell Sagitta to coil around his neck and keep an eye behind the group. He'll instruct the winged snake to behave frantically should it sense any danger (if this takes his second bonus action, I'd say that's fair.)
-> Sagitta's perception check: 14 (Kind reminder that Sagitta has blindsight out to 10ft.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ebokk will try to remain as last one to make sure everyone gets out.
He will be running and dashing both turns. Should anyone else fall Ebokk would see it and try to help them up (perhaps instead of action or in exchange or whatever the cost of it is).
Ebokk will also keep his shield at shoulder level to protect himself and anyone nearby from potential falling debris.
Movement: 25+25+25+25=100ft (if all goes well) d100: 6 Athletics: 8
As the quartet full-out runs along the looooooooong corridor, there is another heavy rumble, but each of them is able to stay on their feet as the floor shakes, and dust and rubble fall around them. One of the decorative suits of armor tips and clatters as its pieces bounce and spin. Though he has no way of relaying such information, Sagitta is the only one to see that the darkness is creeping up the hallway behind them.
Jambiya and Maldorn are now 30 feet ahead of Erric and Ebokk. (Each pair is side by side.) Jambiya and Maldorn are on the threshold of entering the room with the puzzle floor and the last beholder. Next two turns!
Maldorn also rinses and repeats for another 120ft. For his bonus action, he'll continue to encourage Sagitta to keep an eye behind the group and hiss repeatedly and loudly if he needs to call Maldorn's attention. He'll also yell back at Ebokk and Erric: "Keep moving. Keep moving."
Jambiya and Maldorn are first to enter the next-to-last room — the one with the floor puzzle and the watching beholder. They don't stop running, but quickly look about for said creature, and see nothing. As Jambiya is on the left side of the hallway, she gets five feet ahead of the old man when they turn into the chamber.
There is another rumble, and a few sizable pieces of rock fall from the ceiling between the two pairs. Erric steps on one chunk and has to quickly catch his balance as his ankle threatens to turn. He is, however, able to stay upright, and it doesn't cost him any speed. The halfling and the dwarf follow the goblin and the human into the next-to-last room, the bard getting slightly ahead of the fighter, but Ebokk prefers it that way anyway.
Jambiya and Maldorn bolt across the puzzle and are relieved when none of the titles move beneath their feet. They exit the chamber.
Continuing to look back, Sagitta sees nothing of note in the chamber except for Erric and Ebokk following them about 50 feet back.
Maldorn continues running but decides that he needs to keep a better line of communication with Sagitta during these tense moments. He dashes once as to advance another 90ft, spending the second action to cast Beast Bond on Sagitta (last spell slot). For his bonus action, he'll telepathically tell Sagitta to keep an eye on whatever is behind the ranger. He'll also encourage Ebokk: "You are indeed very deadly over short distances."

Maldorn also keeps running. He glances back for a moment, trying to identify what that shadow behind them is.

Ebokk would continue to run but look back mostly to see if he is not in last position. His short legs will be moving as fast as he can but he will make sure hes closest to danger.
Erric also keeps running, trying to look ahead for any obstacles to surmount as well as trying to help his friends keep moving
