Falx crashes back into reality from his nearly neverending slumber. Faekin loses no time and just gives Falx a nod and rushes with his rapier drawn to help the Captain getting rid of this last monkey faced bastard. He tries to stab the creature while it is still somehow distracted by the Captain.
With a lightning strike, the small gnome bard dashes forwards and hits the creature straight in the throat, getting it away from Thessalandra. Slowly lifting his rapier, the blade stuck in the creature's neck, he looks at the leader, with its sharp teeth now tainted in its own blood, and says slowly:
"Just one ugly mother****er..." Withdrawing the blade rapidly, he simultaneously kicks the limp body away from him, over the edge and into the ravine below.
With that, the combat is over, unless someone wants to take a shot at the monkey being swept off in the current. Everyone gets 133 XP from defeating the creatures + 50 XP for keeping almost all of the crew and porters alive. Because Cliff and Bertrand have successfully braved the jungle so far, they are no longer simple commoners, but have instead become 1st level characters in their own right. Henceforth, I will control them more directly, as they start to think of themselves as capable of being adventurers too. They are still loyal to the Professor however, who has always treated them correctly.

Shae would let out a sigh of relief when Faekin kills the leader. She'd hold a hand up, scanning the area at the ready for any others that may change their mind about running. Keeping an eye out over her comrades, "I very much agree. We could use some patching up. If there's no safe way to harvest water here, there must be a lighter stream close by. I'd also suggest grabbing the monkey carcasses for skinning and cooking." She'd then glance over somberly to Nhar, "Bury the dead?"
"Let's rig up a rope so we can cross more safely, especially since I have the disc following me," the Professor says.
One we all get to the far side (assuming that is the way north by northwest), the professor adds, "I am quite distressed that the monkeys turned out to be feral after all, but at least they did lead us to a source of water. I suggest we empty the rain barrel into our individual waterskins and start pulling up the river water. We can boil it tonight while we camp."
Assuming he can get across safely once the rope "handrail" is secure, the professor asks for a length of rope, then concentrates and conjures a sturdy bucket (minor conjuration, arcane path ability), tying off the bucket and handing the rope to one of the stronger types who is (hopefully) uninjured.
When they get to the resting place, he sits and rests a bit while the wounded are tended to, checking his spellbook to see what further power he can glean from it this day (Arcane Recovery, 1 level one spell recovered).
When the battle was over, Maxine was struck with another surge of uncontrollable laughter: "I am sorry, I can not help it" answered she to the puzzled looks and frowns "damn monkeys, hope it is not permanent or contagious".
If she was able in these conditions to at least check others for injuries and help with healing kits, she would do it, if not - she would give the kits to those capable. Obviously, burying ceremonies for her were out of questions - this is not the way she would like to say goodbye to Nhar - the guy she respected most among the surviving crew. One thing still bothered her - the "cemetery". And she tried to explain it between the paroxysms of laughter.
"The items on the graves were not rotten. Here in the jungles, with all those wet hot conditions it means only one thing - whoever buried those people, did it not so long ago and might be found around. And he was definitely not a monkey", she said again.
Over the next half hour, you all manage to haul up enough water to fill the three barrels. Although placing them on the disc is no problem, a quick calculation by the Professor reveals that with the barrels on the disc, there's very little other gear that can be transported on the disc itself. Faekin and Brax would have to walk, and most of the gear that you currently have on the disc would have to be repartitioned by the party, carried on their backs or in some other form of transportation.
The Professor's calculation:
3 times 15 (gallons) times 8.5 pounds (pounds per gallon) + 3 times 30 pounds (per empty barrel) = 470.5 pounds

There was one more thing Maxine tried to test, while the group was forced to take unexpected rest. She took an empty vial, add equal parts of strong rum from Captains' bottle, lamp oil and sap from "zombie plant" she collected earlier. Corked the vial and shaked the mix vigorously, slowly counting to 30. When the mix in the vial began to resemble an emulsion, she tied a thin but sturdy rope to it and no less vigorously spinned it around, continuing counting. At the end, liquid in a vial looked like an expensive cocktail - with 3 rings of differently colored layers. With a thin tube, made from the grass stem, Maxine separated layers and chose one of the dead monkey. One drop from the first ("rum" layer to the monkey's mouth - if in 10 minuts there were no reaction, then the next one. The Professor had suffered a nasty bite, which is still bleeding and red around the edges, but otherwise he's fine. Berrus has come through the entire ordeal unharmed but is spattered in gore. Faekin seems traumatised, his eyes wide and his movements jerky, almost twitching with anticipation. Beyond the mental scars however, he seems fine. Maxine on the contrary is barely holding it together, hysterically giggling at her surroundings, her breathing shallow. Shae herself is badly scratched up, with several deep gouches that are still bleeding as well. Zip still hasn't suffered any further injuries since the ship's crash. Bertrand's face has been badly scratched up, and his right eye seems beyond repair. Apart from some deep and painful gouches on his cheeks and neck however, he is otherwise unharmed. Brax is still limping on his broken and splinted leg, but seems to be fine otherwise, though exhausted from the fight. Cliff has suffered multiple bruises, scratches, bites and cuts, but none of them seem to have been particularly deep. Although in pain, he seems to be able to power through. Falx seems to have done some further injury to his previously broken arm, and the splint has come undone. Thessalandra is physically okay, but she's clearly under severe stress and close to a panic attack. Shae and Zip take care as best they can of all the physical wounds and damage, resplinting Falx' arm and bandages everyone's wounds, particularly Bertrand's eye. For some of the deeper wounds, Shae even brings out a needle and with some threads from her shirt sows the wounds shut, to prevent further infection and bleeding.
As the temporary halt to haul water turns into its second hour as everyone recuperates as best they can from their wounds, Shae makes the most of her time and instructs Maxine to autopsy the creatures -mostly to keep her busy- whilst she inspects the local flora with the help of Zip and the Professor's Gazetteer. They come across several plants in the vicinity of the ravine: The duo finds two adult barrel-stalk mushrooms in between the roots of one of the larger trees, and a plant several large palm-sized leaves about three to four feet high. It doesn't resemble any of the plants described in the gazetteer, but you notice that none of the ants and other bugs go near their stem.
Taking care of the whole party will mean that one healer kit is completely used up, but everyone can roll hit dice to recover. Just remember that it's only midday!
For the plant, here are the details that you can gleam from the Professor's book:
A barrelstalk is a large, cask-shaped fungus that can be tapped and drained of the fresh water stored within it, as well as providing an edible stem.
Once Zip and Shae return, the head towards Maxine who has been busy skinning and cutting open the monkeys. She has done a rather poor job of things, seeing as she lacks any appropriate experience, but on the whole, there are three swatches of about a square foot of monkey fur that were salvaged, the other pelts are ruined. For two of the monkeys, the cuts went too deep and rather than removing the stomach had cut into the bowels instead. But for one, she managed to remove the whole stomach, and removed all its contents. The find shocks you all, as you see mostly flesh, and amongst the various bits of digested meat, you see unmistakably a humanoid finger and an eyeball. Once done with the "autopsy" Maxine had continued with her alchemical filtration technique, and had successfully syphoned off the three layered liquids. With a mad laughter, she added a dash of each mixture onto three of the corpses, waiting to see what happened... without success. None of the corpses showed any sign of being whatsoever affected by the tincture.
Shae, hoping to get her mind of the awful feeding habits of the creatures is sketching the ravine and trying to map it to the incomplete map in the Professor's Gazetteer, quickly finding however that she'd have to sketch them on a separate sheet of parchment, since she had no certain starting point to fill in the blank space in the Snively's book.
The Professor coordinates the loading of his floating disc and the repartitioning of the remaining gear, and then busies himself with his spell book. Faekin approaches him and, with a low whisper asks: "Do you still have some of that wine? We could use it for the wounds... and for hydration..." Berrus meanwhile quickly cleans his face and brushes the blood out of his armour, to avoid any rust. To his dismay, he finds that the brief stint in the humid atmosphere of the jungle has already begun to damage some of the joints... Rememebering an old dwarven saying, he mumbles puts the thoughts about his armour to the back of his mind and instead focuses on sharpening his axes, to make sure that his weapons would be ready.
