You have arrived in the small village of Longsaddle, outside of the Neverwinter Wood. You have been hired on by the mayor of the town, Hodil Gladz, remotely from one town or another along the sword coast. When you arrived in the town, you immediately see that the town has endured some hardships. There are not a lot of people to be seen currently and some of the ones you do see will not make eye contact. You can hear audible weeping in some of the houses as you pass by, though some of the people wave and cheer for you, you hear the word saviors floating around here and there as well. Reaching the town hall you are directed to The Gilded Horseshoe, where you learn your rooms are on the house, paid for by the mayor.
You are told the mayor is currently busy and will come find you as soon as possible, so you stowed your gear in your provided rooms and head to the feast hall next door to get some food, also paid for by the mayor. As you move from the Inn to the feast hall you happen to notice some of the buildings have scorch marks on them. Finding out the feast hall is also a gambling establishment, after getting some food and browsing around for a bit, you find yourself at one of the tables with five others, four others that have been hired by the mayor and one of which introduces himself as Gentry and tells you he represents the house at the table. The game being played at the table is Ship, Captain, and Crew and you have just started the first round of dice throwing.
Gentry rolls his dice first: 12345
Gentry moves his 6 and 5 to the side and beams at you, "Looks like i have my ship and captain."
(OOC: Well I screwed that up, I'll do the rest in another post.)
You can read the directions for Ship, Captain, and Crew by the link above. If there are any questions though, please let me know. :)
Putting down her pint of ale, Moira looks around the table and asks: "What's the point and who's the hammer?" "I'm on point and got the hammer", she follows up, patting her greatsword that is leaning against the table, obviously very satisfied with her elaborated pun. She grabs the dice and throws them, shouting "Time for some midnight!"
36242
"Guess it is still daytime with some sunny prospects", she grins and puts ship to the side
5545
"I do not want to brag, but did I not tell you so?! Another pint on the mayor, swift!", Moira waves and leans back.

"Games of chance..." Kellin says with a sigh. He quickly picks up on the game and shrugs. The little gnome climbs up on a chair, standing on it as he makes his own rolls. He has brown hiar, greenish skin, and wears a tunic with britches. a component pouch is around his waist, with a crossbow and a dagger belted there as well.
first roll:
6, 1, 1, 2, 6, 5
"Well, got my ship then..." He says and rolls again.
6, 4, 3, 2, 3
"No captain yet..." He comments and rolls again.
2, 6, 6, 2, 6
(OOC: seems that I messed it up too, I rolled six dice instead of 5... oh well.)
Gentry laughs, "It seems like a complicated game, but once you play it a bit, it's very easy!"
(OOC: The complicated thing is the dice roller, it's all good though.)
Before you can start the next round, you are interrupted as the door to the hall is opened and in walks a slightly rotund human man in fashionable clothes. Everyone turns to greet the man as he walks over to your table and he addresses various people on the way.
"Evening Cain, how are those children of yours?"
"Maxim, how is the wife feeling?"
"Evening Isaac, how is the crop faring? I hope what's left is enough to last us for the moment."
He makes it to your table and introduces himself to each one of you individually. He has a calm and kind demeanor, though you see fatigue and worry have made lasting impressions on his weathered face.
"The fact you have come in our hour of need is a great comfort to our village, I can already tell some of the panic has abated with your arrival, my people have had much to worry about as of late. Gentry, I hate to take control of your table, but could you give us a few moments? Also, bring a round to our guests, on the house ofcourse."
Gentry hops up and offers the stool he was sitting on to Hodil, "Oh no, no hassle at all sir, I'll be back shortly with your drinks. Anyone with a specific request?"
“Just water please. Thank you.” Alto looks around the table and looks amazed at the dwarf who can lift that enormous sword, knowing he could never swing that effectively.
"I'll also have ale", says Moira. "Does not need to be Dwarven though", she adds smiling at Torvin.
She looks at the new arrival and states: "So you are the one who can tell us all why we are here, aren't you?! You managed to assemble a nice bunch. We could even start with 'Have you heard this one: Two half-elves walk into an inn...'
And to get to the most important point right away: Is there a dragon and does it need killing?"
Danfi asks quietly "Do you have any cactus juice?, if not water will be fine."
(OOC) I realized I haven't described Danfi yet.
The quiet half-elf looked uncomfortable standing at the game table. The young man was thin and of average height, with a few strands of red hair growing on his cheeks. His tan and off-white clothes were dusty, while his hand never strayed far from the hand axe at his belt. The half-elf was relieved to see that his companions on this adventure seemed to be well-armed.
(Well Danfi might not be assured by Alto) Alto looks like a nice young half-elven man with shaggy blond hair and gray eyes, wearing a blue shirt with a black vest on top of it. Around his neck is a symbol of the god Helm that looks old and well-worn. A simple pair of dark pants and leather boots with dagger hilts coming out cover his legs. Weirdly, on his belt is a thin piece of white wood, almost like a wand that he taps on the handle every once in a while. He definitely doesn't look like he could fight a puppy, much less an actual person. He's not even wearing armor.
Gentry smiles and takes down everyone's drink order, "Sorry about that good sir, we do not have any cactus juice as far as I am aware, but I'll definitely ask!" He takes off for the kitchen with a wave.
Hodil takes a seat on the stool and looks at Moira, "That apparent is it? I know there are still some scorch marks on some of the buildings, but I thought we had gotten the majority of them. We do have a dragon problem."
He leads everyone to the doors of the feast hall and points at the nearby mountain. Halfway up, there is an indention of sorts, a small shelf perhaps and then higher up still you can slightly make out a ledge with a large dark hole behind it. "It sits up there from time to time and looks down on us, as if to taunt us, and it has a clan of kobolds as servants and helpers."
He moves back to the table where Gentry is placing everyone's drinks down on the table. Gentry looks at Danfi apologetically and places a glass of water in front of him. Hodil speaks up again gaining your attention, "It started showing up around a month ago. The kobolds, they come down from the mountain about once a week, sometimes riding on the dragon's back, sometimes it just sits up there and watches. They demand a tribute for it. Money, weapons, jewels.... it's different each time. We have given in each time and given them some of our supplies. Sometimes it is enough, and sometimes it isn't. If it isn't, they attack our people and set our buildings on fire. Then they just leave, and we wait for another week to pass to see what will happen the next time."
Danfi didn't know much about dragons, and had never actually seen one. But, kobolds, he knew about them, and knew they could easily die to an arrow or a blade.
"Let's just kill all the kobolds. We can sneak up to their camp, and take them out one by one. Maybe without its allies, the dragon will leave."
Following Danfi’s lead, Alto nods and says, “Yes, kill the kobolds, that is a good plan for saving the town.” In his head he quietly worries about the dragon looking for revenge. (OOC What were we hired for again?)

Gentry takes his second roll: 4 3 2
"That's my crew!" Gentry places the 4 with the 6 and 5.
Gentry takes his third roll: 1 3
"Well, looks like i should have kept that 3 earlier, my total cargo is 4."
Danfi, a bit reluctantly, steps up and rolls the dice 18
(OOC) I hope it doesn't matter that I'm going out of turn, and it looks like I screwed it up as well. Do five separate die rolls.
23525
"No ship, so I guess I reroll"
6 4 61 5
"Okay, I have my ship, my captain, and my crew, and part of my cargo" as he sets the 6, 5, 4, and 6 off to the side.
1
"I guess it didn't matter with that third roll."
Alto looks confused at first, but figures it out after Danfi and Gentry roll. “Okay then, let’s try this!”
1 1 6 4 6
Scratching his head, he says, “Well that’s not a good start at all. Let’s try again.” Shaking the dice around he lets them fly.
1 6 3 6 5
Setting the 6 aside he rolls for the last time.
1 1 2 1
(I messed up the rolls apparently, but I definitely did not get a 4 anywhere)
”Did I lose?” Alto looks perplexed that his luck is so bad.
Gentry smiles and says, "Hey, that's still a cargo of seven, better than my four!" He laughs and congratulates Danfi.
Turning to Alto, he says, "Bugger, bad luck on the first round, you'll get it though!"
(OOC: Doesn't have to be in order, and i figured out the same earlier so no worries, lol.)
