So I'm DMing a campagin in which the party is a crew of pirates. They are going to be raiding a rival pirate's ship soon and I want to give them some goodies when they succeed.
What are some good pirate- or ocean- themed magic items? I found the DMG pretty lacking overall so I'd be welcome to any items from other sources or homebrew stuff.
So far, I've got the Folding Boat, Orb of Direction, Pearl of Power, Cap of Water Breathing, and Cloak of the Manta Ray, but obviously I'm not giving them all of those at once.
For reference, the party is level 5 and consists of a Warforged Barbarian, a Satyr Monk, a Plasmoid Monk, a Wood Elf Sorcerer, a Hadozee Bard, and a cow.
Dial of Divination - this is inspired by old-time-y navigational tools / star tracking devices.
Little Black Book - Not necessarily pirate themed but definitely a evil-themed but still useful item for a spellcaster.
Ocean's Tear - less powerful than the others, this is a nice utility items for a sea-campaign that was originally designed as a mermaid's necklace.
Assassin's Garrote - again not specifically ocean-themed but definitely something a pirate might have.
Brass Knuckles - this is a monk-item but could also be something a pirate might have, and I'm really pleased with the flavour this item gives in addition to its mechanical benefits.
Some others from my notes that might be relevant for you:
Coral Staff of the Hydromancer:
The staff has 8 charges. While holding it, you can use an action to expend 1 or more of its charges to cast one of the following spells from it, using your spell save DC:
Create or Destroy Water (1 charge),
Ice Knife (1 Charge),
Wall of water (3 Charges),
Water Breathing (3 Charges),
Control Water (4 Charges).
If you cast Water Breathing while holding this staff, it grants the targeted creatures the ability to breathe in dead zones in additon to the normal effects.
The staff regains 1d6+2 expended charges over a long rest.
If you expend the last charge, roll a d20. On a 1, the staff becomes a nonmagical quarterstaff.
Crown of the Undead Sea King
This tarnished golden crown is a simple circlet topped with six triangular points. At the top of each point is a small diamond that glows with an internal light. The rim of the crown is lined with large blood-red rubies. Creatures attuned to this item can speak, read, and write Aquan.
Each diamond hold one charge which can be expended as an action to cast one of the following spells (DC 15):
command that affects only undead creatures, Cost: 1 charge/spell level.
bane, targeting up to 4 creatures, Cost: 2 charges
bless, targeting up to 4 creatures, Cost: 2 charges
The crown regains 1d4+1 charges after a long rest.
Curse: While attuned to this item all undead creatures within 60 ft of you always know your exact location. Once attuned this item cannot be removed except by a remove curse spell.
Stuffed Weasel - this was the decoration on the desk of my NPC Ship's captain.
When the correct command word is spoken, magic causes the weasel to be partially animated, allowing it to keep watch in all directions and scream to alert creatures within 60ft of it to the presence of unauthorized creatures it sees or any attempt made to move it. However, it cannot move or attack. The weasel revert to an inanimate form after 8 hours or if the correct command word is spoken.
While animated the weasel has a +10 to perception checks and Darkvision of 60ft.
Spiked Collar
This black leather collar is studded with 4-inch long steel spikes. It was created for the barbarian Raknor after he was swallowed by a kraken.
While attuned to this item, you gain resistance to acid damage, and creatures have disadvantage on Constitution saving throws to avoid vomiting you up.
Trident of the Sea Queen
This trident is a magic weapon. While touching the trident, you can speak to and understand the spoken words of any creature with a swim speed.
This weapon grants +1 to attack and damage rolls. This weapon has 5 charges, which you can spend to cast the following spells:
Homebrew magical sea tools that can fill out a haul-
Ropes that adjust the sails on command and do not need a crewman.
Cartographer Tools (plus for roll to succeed)
Maps (magical or not) of potential treasure or "shortcuts" of passage to get somewhere faster/safely.
scrolls of water breathing/swimming type spells
Victorian era (e.g. goofy) looking swim suits to assist with swimming skills.
Kerchief/bandanna or eyepatch of ______ (blindsight, true sight, Xray (to see through ship walls/hulls) disguise self, etc.
Fishing rod that catches what every the user is actually looking for. person or thing that went overboard or special type of sea creature, or a type of fish (wahoo or tuna) etc.
Breathe, dragons; sing of the First World, forged out of chaos and painted with beauty. Sing of Bahamut, the Platinum, molding the shape of the mountains and rivers; Sing too of Chromatic Tiamat, painting all over the infinite canvas. Partnered, they woke in the darkness; partnered, they labored in acts of creation.

Greetings BaconBreadman,
Not a Magic Item, but if you want to throw some comic element in there for them:
The Bone Blight Parrot :)
Cheers!
