Petcan scratches his arm nervously. “He wasn’t like a... like a legitimate guardian was he? Do you think?”

Randall:

I’m sure they would have hit very hard if we had given them a chance,” responds Randall, “but your point is well-taken.  Let us move ahead and check the body for treasure or information, then scout the bridge thoroughly before the refugees get here.”

Remember that Grimm, Randall, and Petcan still have Inspiration, might be helpful for Perception and such.

Grim considers the Ettin's words and actions, he searches the body and the immediate area attempting to get some sort of insight into the creature and it's possible motives and possibly understand why it was so easy to kill.

Randall:

Randall moves forward and inspects the bridge, attempting to ensure there are no traps or other nasty surprises for the refugees to encounter.

Perception:  19

Randall:

”Let’s scout out the other side of the bridge, then come back here and keep watch while the refugees cross over.  Anyone have any ideas about dropping the bridge behind us, or maybe using it as a choke point to slow down the goblins?” asks Randall.

If the others are amenable, he rides across the bridge to scout out the other side.

Grim follows Randall over the bridge, keeping an eye out for anything suspicious.

Grim Perception: 21

"Ye, let's check the other side as well. Afterwards; it is a wooden bridge so we could see if we can set it on fire?"

“Maybe. If the city has troops, the bridge might actually be a blessing. It could thin the goblin horde to a manageable number, stringing them out as they try to cross. If the bridge is gone, it’ll slow them down, but not reduce the horde’s size on this side once they do cross. Not to say I’m opposed, just offering ideas.”

"Fair point, but we should ask how far the city is from here, before making any decisions any way"

“I think we have to get our people across. And on further consideration, I think you were on the money. We should destroy the bridge. I can light it on fire, if that’s how we’d like to handle it. Not sure we want to advertise it that much though.”

"Alright, lets just do that, unless the captain of the village is against it, we'll ask when we see him. No indeed lets get this refugees to this side as it doesn't seem there is anything that will harm there here currently."  Bow says before waving the refugees to come over the bridge

Randall:

After making sure the other side of the bridge was clear, Randall responded to Bow, “Agreed, let’s get the refugees over the bridge as soon as may be.  While they are crossing we can discuss what surprises we want to prepare for the goblins.”
