"Hmm... Neither an acronym or as funny as I thought it would be, but that's just as fine."Obsben commented on mysterious following's Tad's introduction. Apart from that, Obsben had taken to wandering the shop and largely leaving the matter of securing goods to Graxx and the rest. Though she'd chime in as necessary to make sure she got at least a roughly fitting wintry clothing as necessary.

Tad is happy to serve CRAP in their search for cold weather and climbing gear. "But of course. We offer some pre-made fur coats and cloaks that you can pick from those bins over there. Choose a style to your heart's content. I'll bring a few of our pre-sorted climbing kits for you as well."
Once the man is back, his greying hair a bit more disheveled now from moving back and forth, Graxx takes a chance and asks about other customers seeking wintry clothes: "No, no, not too many this time-a-year. There is a reason these bins here are as full as they are." He smirks at his own comment, clearly manufactured to further his sales pitch. "But it is funny that you ask. Not two or three days ago I had a couple of customers ask for fur coats as well. They had been coming to the store for a few months but this was the first time they asked for cloaks and such." Tad thinks this is enough of a response to Graxx's question. He is clearly being polite and furthering the small talk but his focus is still on providing goods to customers. As such, his next words are: "Is there anything else I can help you with? Perhaps additional furs for your travels, or cosy tents so you can rest on the go?"
-> Digging deeper for information will require a persuasion or other CHA-based check, especially if you are trying to do so without alerting the man to your investigation.
(OOC: Feel free to purchase other mundane items here too. The store is well stocked.)
Utar selects a few pieces that will fit snugly beneath his armour with the result being that a little fur now peeks out from the joints and his neck is suitably trimmed in fur. Aside from that, he makes sure to find some gloves that will still allow a grip on Lightbringer and a hat that has some little ear flaps. Suitably attired, he picks out a crowbar and a shovel from the shelves of the grocery.
(OOC Utar is already packing a climbers kit so no need to double up on them. Assume standard prices for mundane items? Also, is Tad a secret green dragon? Just want to make sure before rolling Utar's check!)
Although Obsben's choice of cloak and furs is a touch larger than her frame, she picked it yet all the same and hugged it close to her frame. "Ah~ Smells like another adventure."She commented while gently stroking her purchase. "And with a hint of wigglewort fur too... Nice."She added with a grin.
(OOC: Platinum removed for the purchase)

(@MB: Yes, the grocery charges standard prices for mundane items. You see no green dragon scales poking out of Tad's sleeves.)
Tad is happy to continue selling gear to CRAP. He addresses Graxx: "Oh yes, this tent right here houses two people comfortably and it will cost you only 2gp."He turns to face Utar: "Nice choice with that crowbar and shovel. They are handy items that are also priced at 2gp each."When looking at Obsben, Tad is only capable of administering a guilty smile before apologetically saying: "Some furs have been here for a while..."
Neya waits for a lull in the trade talk before bringing back to topic of the other fur purchasers. She finds Tad more than eager to move the conversation away from the scent of his wares. "Funny you ask," he reacts similarly to how he did a moment ago. He leads Neya and the others to his counter, reaches behind it, and pulls out two notebooks. He refers to the smaller of the two first. "A couple of days ago, when they came asking for furs, one of them inadvertently left this notebook behind in the shop. I have been holding on to it, sure that he would come back for the notebook, but so far he hasn't."He opens the notebook, flipping to its very last page: "Sometime the owner writes their name in the back here, but all they have on the last page is this crudely drawn map." He points to a spot on the foothills of a set of mountains, market with an X. "If they are going here, they'd surely need the furs, so I'm guessing this is the answer to your question, miss."
Tad passes on the notebook to the group, opened on the last page with the map. He then puts a hand on the larger book and begins to leaf through it. You can see it is a ledger, and he is looking for a specific entry while you examine the other notebook.
"Mmhm~ Seeing as, funnily enough, we intended to head up that way as well. Kinda why we needed the furs 'n all that. Such a fortunate turn of events for both halfs, innit?" Obsben chimed in, backing Neya's suggestion in her own way. "And it'd be a shame if they got all the way out there, only to not only have realized they forgot where this was, but wind up lost for days if not weeks in such dangerous wilds."

(@MB: Your total should be 26gp, including one tent. @Grx is getting a second tent, is that right?)
Still at the counter, Tad pauses his ledger search to finish the sale to Utar and then the sale to Graxx.
Meanwhile, Neya goes over the crudely drawn map, even pulling some of her cartographer's tools to properly compare it to the map provided by the Lord Sage. It doesn't take long for the monk to confirm they are depicting the same general area to the north of Phlan, including the Dragonspine Mountains. A specific spot is marked on the notebook map, giving CRAP a target to aim for at the mountains' foothills. Neya calculates that it might take the team a bit less than two days to get there, on horseback.
Tad looks up upon hearing Neya's question. Before the portly man can say anything, Obsben pitches in with additional arguments. A shade of doubt passes through his face but it goes away quickly. "I guess... that's as good as keeping it here and waiting for them to return. If you are going to the mountains, I pray you find them there. Be sure to mention it was Tad Staslep who facilitated this, yes?" He wafts some air with his hand toward the notebook, indicating that you may take it. Then, resuming his ledger search, he eventually finds the entry he was looking for and flips the large book around as if to show it to the group: "Here it is. I knew I remembered they ordered other goods from the store. Right here: vellum, chalk dust, and a waterproof scrollcase. That last one was harder to find than you'd think."
Then man then finally collects the platinum coin from Obsben for her sale, and 10gp from Neya for her furs (was there anything else you'd like to buy?)
Finally, he start recording your sales in the ledger too, for proper bookkeeping.
Utar looks towards Obsben given the scroll he recently handed off to the halfling. If they needed a waterproof case, might be CRAP do as well.
"While we're still writing up this transaction, you don't happen to have another of those scroll cases, or a little extra chalk dust while we're at it?"
(OOC Have deducted the monies for the equipment so far and then more for the tent. Haven't removed the protection of energy scroll yet, is it in Obsben's inventory?)
(@Lerus: Nothing Obby's player can think of, which will probably bite me in the butt later. xD)
With her acquisitions soon packed away, Obsben had once more taken to put on a balancing act to scribble down a few notes. If any had a mind to glance over the shoulder, they'd see her describing in exaggerated detail the investigative prowess of the group, naming as Neya as clearly the most cleverly spoken of them. "And don't worry, Tad. We will be sure to let him know when we... run into him."She looks up and gives her trademark unnerving smile.

Tad takes a minute to find a proper scroll case and some sealing wax. "I suggesting sealing the case with wax, just to be sure. Together, these will cost you an additional 15sp," he tell Utar.
With this last bit of business out of the way, Graxx says farewell on behalf of the group and Obsben reassures Tad that his store's name will be mentioned once the case of the lost notebook is brought to its natural conclusion.
CRAP moves out to the streets of Phlan once more, the three horses and mastiff waiting for them. The sun is close to its zenith now, indicating that lunch time will soon be upon them. It was a productive morning. What shall they do next?
(OOC: The final bill should come to 26gp and 15sp for Utar, 22gp for Graxx, 1ppto Obsben, and 10gp for Neya, assuming she is adding that tent to her inventory free of charge as mentioned in the OOC Chat. Let me know if your math says something else.)
(OOC: The trek to the spot on the foothills of the mountains will take approximately two days. If your next step is to leave town, I'll need one survival check for each of those two days. If Neya wants to perform one or both of them, she may add her proficiency bonus on account of her masterful cartography check earlier. I would also like to ask each of you to roll a d20 and a d100 for a random encounters table as you travel to the mountains.)
Utar hands over the silver and passes the scroll case and wax to Obsben.
"Might be best you take this for now."
Rummaging through his pack, he extracts a scroll and passes that to the halfling as well.
"And this too. It's bad luck to give something like this without something to store in it."
Utar's d20: 13
Utar's d100: 11
(OOC Utar has inspiration to burn on one of those survival checks, presumably it has to be on the first one. He'll give guidance on the second for whoever performs it.)
Obsben seemed almost genuinely astonished at the offerings and took them almost absent-mindedly to study them close. When she next looked up at the half-orc, it is with a more genuine smile. "Aww~ Thank you Utar. You're the best." Obsben said and went in to hug his leg for a bit.
"But okay, enough of that now."She pats him a few more times before properly putting away all her new acquisitions. "Time to get this show on the road 'fore Graxxy there decides to run the whole way there."She jests. But anyone with a modicrum of insightfulness could see her own eagerness to be out the gate before lunch time.
Graxx steps up to the middle aged man with a welcoming smile.
”Hello Tad, my name is Graxx. I was looking for some warm clothing for my companions and myself. We could also use some climbing gear.” says Graxx
”Would you have any to sell?” asks Graxx.
Graxx pauses for a second and his eyes focus a little deeper.
“You probably don’t sell a lot of cold weather gear this time of year. Has anyone else come looking for warm clothing lately?” asks Graxx.
"Hmm... Neither an acronym or as funny as I thought it would be, but that's just as fine." Obsben commented on mysterious following's Tad's introduction. Graxx decides not to push the issue further.
Graxx goes over and looks over the furs. He will specifically look for lighter covered furs that may blend in with snow.
Graxx runs his hand across the smooth furs.
”We should probably each get two sets. That way we can swap them out when they get wet from the weather.” says Graxx.
Graxx turns back to Tad.
”A tent is a great idea. I’ll take one for the road.” says Graxx.
It takes a while, but Neya is soon able to find some furs that would both fit her will and not throw off her movements too much.
"Just out of curiosity, did they happen to say if they were going somewhere?" Neya asks as she sifted through the furs.
