Massive damage can kill you instantly. When damage reduces you to 0 hit points and there is damage remaining, you die if the remaining damage equals or exceeds your hit point maximum.
I think if Rawrer got temporary HP after being revived (which I think he should have because all our turns end at the same time), he should have avoided instant death because he had 1 HP and should have gotten at least 6 temporary HP, which left at most 19 damage remaining after he fell unconscious and that wouldn't be enough to kill him with max HP of 22.
I have been expanding on this to make it more clear.

DM? How you wanna play this?
Ooh good point.
It makes sense to me. Rawrer is not quite dead yet!
Ah I see. So the rule is that if you get to zero hp and the amount of the attack's original damage is larger than your total max hp, then you die outright?
I thought the remaining damage - after he was brought to 0 - would need to be equal or larger than the max hp (which would have been 26-1-6=19<22).
You’re correct, it’s the remaining damage.

Nadir calls back her horse mounts and tries to protect Dolrik from the Dancing Flame and attacks it with her Wackystick in addition to the Fiendish Orc.

That’s a good argument! So it comes down to when does End of Turn logically happen:
At the end of Dolrik’s turn
or
At the end of the team’s turn.
