As the party is making their way to Ebokk's camp site, Maldorn releases Sagitta to fly around and survey the area. Unfortunately, the light of the day is almost gone, the shadows are very deep, and Sagitta doesn't have darkvision, so he isn't able to report back anything of value. (I'm going to retcon my no horses comment and say that Ebokk rode a horse here, so there is one horse at the campsite.)
So, Erric is making supper with Jambiya's help, and everyone has picked a watch. Is there anything else you want to do before we enter the long rest?
Erric, your time with Snap is productive. You're not sure if it's the treats or your winning personality (or the combination of the two), but the pseudodragon seems to really take to you today.
Erric begins juggling with some morsels from dinner, and whistling whatever tune he was playing when he had earlier befriended Snap.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Maldorn is a little too tired to hunt but will help out with small camp-tending tasks as needed. He'll also smoke regular cigarettes to relax a bit and spend some quality time with Sagitta (playing/practicing new tricks).
Ebokk will feed his horse then. Before they go to bed.
While the party is gathered Ebokk will say a few words. Thank you for coming with me. It was more than i could ask of such good friends.
He looks around to the others. I am glad everyone is alright.
A big smile can be seen despite of Ebokks beard. And we have a grand adventure in the bag. He pats the shield he brought from the vault. We should head for Neverwinter in the morning, i believe Eilikasys can help us with these treasures. Perhaps some are famous!he says as his eyes go big. She will know of them.
Jambiya, you have just about given up hope when Snap finally lands on a nearby rock, a small mouse in his jaws. He blinks at you, and you can feel the pseudodragon is responding to your calls with concern.
Maldorn, like most animals, Sagitta has been exercised more today and so is more responsive and eager to please this evening. You find the snake is almost intuitive in understanding your commands. What new tricks are you working on?
If I remember correctly, we had worked on 'fetch' and 'drop', so Maldorn will work on 'hiss' next. The idea is that Sagitta would learn to hiss on command. Maldorn is hoping to possibly use this as a distracting sound in the future, or even cause fear on anyone noticing an unexpected snake's hiss nearby.
Jambiya squeaks in pleasure when Snap lands, and hops up to hug him. She talks to him, “ Oh, Snap, you’re okay! I am, too, I guess maybe you weren’t worried because we weren’t gone very long, but it seemed like a long time and I think we got pretty close to dying but I’m glad you’re okay and I’m sorry for interrupting your dinner and I missed you,” and she skritches him between the horns. She’ll offer him some of her dinner if he’s interested, and then settle down to sleep, letting Snap do what he wants. She’s come to terms on this trip with him being a wild creature.

Maldorn, you demonstrate the action for your companion, opening your mouth, extending your tongue, and breathing loudly. It takes a while, but Sagitta learns to mimic you. You'll have to work on associating the word "hiss" with the action later.
Jambiya, Snap is relieved when you show him joy instead of fear or sadness. He lets you know that he wasn't worried about you because you are big and strong. He enjoys your attention and begins tearing apart his mouse, ignoring your offer of cooked food.
(Do we need to do anything else to get to the long rest? If we've just got free time, Erric will spend an hour or two with an item or two to see if anything might be magical. But not sure if you're waiting on us for anything...)
Not really waiting, but I don't want to hurry you if there are things you want to do.
Which items are you spending time with to see if they're magical? The things that innately feel magical are the scrolls, the cloak, and the shield.
The scrolls are easy to examine. One, both Erric and Maldorn can identify as cure wounds. Another, Maldorn recognizes as hunter's mark. A third, Jambiya identifies as mage armor. Three, none of the party can read.
Seeing Erric with the cloak, Jambiya will go to sleep after tending the fire and cleaning up. She will refuse help, saying she can use her magic to help with the cleaning, and does it efficiently, then goes to her bedroll.

Maldorn will claim the Hunter's Markspell scroll:"This can come in handy should I run out of magical fuel during a fight."
Then, he'll quickly examine the two dagger to determine if they are of a better make than his own pair. Finally, he'll examine the potion vial in detail and even dip a fingertip in it and taste should that help identifying it.
As Erric begins spending an hour touching and concentrating on the cloak, Maldorn takes a good look at the daggers. They are not at all magical, but the blades are plated in silver, which he knows helps harm certain kinds of creatures more than normal blades. And he recognizes the potion as a potion of greater healing.
After an hour, Erric comes to the understanding that what he has is the cloak of the manta ray.
Having finished the tasks they wanted to do prior to resting, the party finally settles down for an uneventful night of sleep.
Everyone levels up! I'd love it if each of you would RP your enhancements in your next post, but it isn't necessary.
During his watch, Maldorn walks about their camp a bit. Something piques his attention among the nearby foliage and, upon investigation, Maldorn realizes it is a sprig of holly, a plant that should not grow in this area. This discovery launches Maldorn into an introspective trip. Long ago, his wife had once gifted him just such a sprig. One that contained power within; one that helped him become much more than a simple hunter. He had lost that always-fresh sprig of holly when... when... when he was alone again. Now, it had somehow made its way back to him. Maybe it was a different sprig, but Maldorn had traveled far in his youth (Far Traveler background) and perhaps this was the very spot where he had lost it in the first place. The old ranger ties the sprig securely to his longbow.
Upon waking up the next morning, Maldorn finds that many of his supernatural abilities from youth had returned to him. Not all of them, of course, as they would not all return to him so quickly if at all, but just enough to jog his memory... his memory... his memory had failed him over the last several years. He couldn't remember where he came from exactly, how he ended up in Seldom Spring, and, perhaps worst of all, he couldn't remember her face or her name... name... names... Names were particularly tricky for Maldorn of late. He would always mess them up. Until recently, he couldn't even properly remember the names of his loyal companions. But now, now the sprig is back, and so are some memories. He remembers that he was not always just a hunter. He was more than that when he was young. A well-trained archer? A wise counsel? Perhaps even a fully-fledged adventurer...
While breaking his fast, Maldorn recalls some of his previous abilities or regains some of the skills of his youth:
He recalls some of the spells of his youth, even if doing so comes at the price of foregoing some of the spells he had learned in his old age.
He is able to mark foes on the fly, no longer needing to spend some of his magical abilities to do so. His mark loses some power but gains the ability to grow as Maldorn does.
What's more, he no longer feels like he specializes only in hunting simple beasts. Maldorn feels confident that he can hunt whatever needs to be hunted. He can even nock two arrows at once, a trick his ageing fingers had forgotten over time.
He remembers he can speak Draconic after all!
His eyes are sharper than they have been in years, perhaps decades (passive perception score equals 19.)
Sagitta had been off playing by himself this morning, or perhaps with the psedodragon. It is only after Maldorn has already finished eating that the winged snake returns, and it looks like Maldorn was not the only one to turn back time. Sagitta has gained some bright green tribal markings on the length of his body and wings. They glow faintly in that same vivid green, which offers a nice contrast with the serpent's dark green scales. His physical and mental faculties have also received an upgrade, just like his master's, although it looks like the serpent also had to give up some of his previous abilities in order to receive such rejuvenation. Overall, Maldorn and Sagitta seem to understand each other much better now.
(Erric similarly just grabbed things to grab them, not to claim them. We can sort things out after they're identified...)
(To be clear, I wasn’t claiming, just sorting! It’s all cool.)
