"hmm, that's not supposed to be there." Khan shrugs, "oopsy daisy. got something out of her though, the black hand they call themselves." she takes a step back and fires an Eldritch blast into the cultists face.
Limbo exits out of an open window into the alley behind, finding footing on a barrel underneath the window that breaks under her weight. Although she finds her footing easily enough, some of the metal rings loosely fall to the ground creating a a somewhat loud clanging sound that echoes in the alley. She then hustles her way around the side of the house, removing the garb and mask of her 'Limbo' persona in favor of the clothing she wears as Tzo-Tzo. Upon reaching the front of the house, the street remains quiet. Through the window, Tzo-Tzo can see the party gathered around the captive woman, her thigh bleeding profusely.
Just as Khan gets ready to remove the woman's head from her shoulders with the force of your magic alone, a loud crash can be head coming from the back. The distraction is loud enough that your hand moves slightly and when the eldritch blast is released, it goes wide hitting the wall - about two feet away from the sobbing face of the young man. He gives out a surprised yelp and immediately re-starts to cry.
Keth...
A memory stirs in you. A memory of your tribe's last campsite you returned to - desolate and empty. As you searched the grounds for clues, you remember the medallion you had found and picked up. It was a simple iron coin, on which was engraved a gauntlet... a gauntlet painted black.
Dar...
Although jumping from orphanage to orphanage, the imagery of the situation feels familiar - this woman fits the description of a cult that you had head of in stories told to you when you were younger. Bane, The Black Hand... he is one of The Dead Three. The three mortals, Bane the tyrant, Myrul the necromancer, and Bhaal the assassin, that won the divine powers of strife, death, and murder from the old god Jergal. However, supposedly, all three gods had been killed many years ago.
Tzo-Tzo...
Although understanding that there were some likely clues to be pulled from the would-be kidnapper, Tzo-Tzo being relatively new to the city lacks the specific knowledge to connect them. She turns the corner and see the woman in the chair, the party standing around her, and a crack and crater in the wall close to the young man that wasn't there before.
Oswin...
Your memories reach back to stories of your mother... ten years ago she helped save the city from a savage divine avatar of Bhaal known as 'The Slayer.' You look around now, and the promise of a better city died that day with the death of Grand Duke Abdel Adrian. In fact, his assassination and the ensuing battle did not happen very far from where you are currently standing. The city continues its bend towards chaos. Suddenly, Khan shoots off an eldritch blast - barely missing the woman's face.
You know that this person is a follower of Bane, The Black Hand. She speaks true in that she wants to bring law and order back to Baldur, but she is also willing to do so without care for the methods used to get there... but there will be law and order, which is sharp in contrast to what you have seen in recent months and even in this moment.
The woman looks up groggily at Khan, and says with a dry chuckle, "You missed." She then coughs up some blood an looks up to Oswin, "Make the choice that will save this city." Her head slumps forward, her chin down touching her collarbone... then blood trickles out of her open mouth in a sickening fashion as her breathing slowly fades to nothingness.
Everyone notices Tzo-Tzo passing by the window in front.
You have a dead (again) woman tied to a chair, a crying person in the corner of the room, and Tzo-Tzo is about to enter the front door as the rest of you stand around your, former, suspect. What is the party up to now?
Oswin snaps himself out of his stupor, and now that he knows there's nothing they can do for the woman, he bends down to help the crying man.
"I'm sorry for what you've been going through. My name is Oswin, and we're not here to hurt you. Can you tell me what was going on here, before Limbo arrived? What interest does the cult of Bane have in you?"
The young man, hearing Oswin's steady voice, closes his eyes and begins to focus on his breathing. The sobs eventually subside. Although still obviously nervous and concerned, he says, "I was on my way back from the Flaming Fist - I had gone to ask if they could help me find my father. When I told them he had been missing for three days, most of them laughed and turned and left. One rather grim captain told me, 'Son - if he's been missing for three days, he either abandoned Baldur's Gate, or he's dead. Not sure which you would prefer, but that's the reality of it. Go home and move on without him.'"
"When I was at my door, that woman -" he points at the woman, slouched and lifeless in the chair "- charged at me. She told me she was taking me in to help the cause. I was able to get the door open and tried to shut her out, but she muscled her way in."
He looks at the woman, and with eyes still teary, spits on the floor.
Oswin says, “Your father goes missing, and then a cultist tries to kidnap you? Seems an unlikely coincidence. Who was your father, what did he do? Did he have any enemies?”
The young man, responds, with more strength to his voice as his nerves continue to calm, "We have no enemies that I know of. My father's name is Effinax Zalboar. He's a driver and caravan coordinator for the Seven Suns Trading Coster. He was planning our next caravan out to the Western Heartlands scheduled for a couple weeks from now. It always gets heady as we close in on a caravan - meeting with the merchants, drivers and security details - so he's always moving around the city. Three days ago, he didn't come home. I've been searching for him sense. My mother and sister are staying with cousins in the city so they're not alone while I have searched."
As the young man says his piece, you notice the copper pin marking him as a member of the Seven Suns Trading Coster - as a journeyman apprentice.
"I've been reaching out to everyone he's met the few days leading to him going missing. Nothing. I even managed to get permission to go into the upper city to see the Jhasso's. They seemed worried, but they knew of nothing and only kept asking if the caravan would go on as scheduled - telling me to take my father's place. I went to the Flaming Fist the day after he went missing, but they told me they can't do anything for a few days as someone's not 'missing' until they've been gone for two days." Then, with a tinge of anger he continues, "What a bunch of rubbish. I go back like they said and they tell me there's no hope. I don't think they ever were going to help... Thugs - every last one of them."
If anyone is wearing a Flaming Fist pin, it is evident that he has not noticed it.
Anyone who has spent a lot of time in the city, would recognize the name Seven Suns as one of the older Trading Costers of Baldur's Gate. Like most, it would be likely owned by one or many of the patriar families that live in Upper City. They are the largest trading caravan into the Western Heartlands.
"You're right about the flaming fist, the only one of them i know is absolutely loony!" Khan accentuates her claim by holding up her Flaming Fist pin, "Oh, wait... it's me! As a mental institution they get very low marks..."
"I'm not sure. My gut tells me he is keeping something from us." He taps a finger to his temple, "I have an idea. Why don't we sell him to the cultists? Then they can tell us why they want him. If we don't like why they want him, we kill the cultists." He looks very happy with his reasoning through of the situation.
"The best they can? It isn't a volunteer gig kid. I like that plan except for the part where we do like why they want him, can we still kill them anyway?"
"That's not an option," Oswin says flatly, dismissing the idea as if Keth was joking. "This man was almost kidnapped. I say we bring him in so that the Flaming Fist can protect him. Once we do that, we can continue with our mission. And if we have time, investigate the disappearance. Something about this cult and the Seven Suns, seems like they might be connected. Some of the old families in Baldur's Gate are into some pretty freaky stuff, so whoever owns the Seven Suns might have gotten in over their heads."
Tzo-Tzo, now appearing, leans on the doorframe, “Well, I leave for a moment and you all kill someone and have another crying in the corner. Busy day, huh.“
”So, this guy was almost kidnapped, eh? Seems like the kid has the right idea, we can’t have him slowing us down.”

The younger Zalboar, shifting from horrified looks upon hearing Ket's suggestion, to furious nodding in agreement with Oswin, contributes, "I can go straight back to the Flaming Fist station if that makes you feel better and wait for you all to finish whatever mission it is you are on. I'll keep to the main thoroughfares."
"This one -" he points at the dead cultist "- came out from the alleys between the houses across the street. If I avoid the alleys, I should be fine. I can't stay here anyways - not for now at least... not until it gets cleaned up and I improve our doors and locks. I'll tell the desk sergeant at the barracks what happened here."
The pool of blood surrounding the chair the woman is slumped over in slowly increases, creating a slow, meandering path towards the front of the house following the natural decline of the building and the streets.
Tzo-Tzo, now appearing, leans on the doorframe, “Well, I leave for a moment and you all kill someone and have another crying in the corner. Busy day, huh.“
"what is today, Tuesday? then it's actually been pretty slow..."
Oswin looks on, a mixture of feelings on his face, as the woman bleeds out.
