"I am not sure what they were, but I do recognize the magical energy that that orb was utilizing." Nessarian's voice rings out as he enters the crumbling structure. Jororic and Smallfry recognize him as the elf that was accompanying the others when they met.
Oswin and his construct keep guard, expecting the source of the shriek to come to them.
As the rest of the group is resting, Lia takes a look around the room in which the orb was hiding. Many of the tomes had long since rotted away or the text has faded into incomprehensibility. However, there are a seven surviving books hidden under the collapsed shelves. Such volumes seem to be in a variety of languages. Two of which are in an older, but still-recognizable form of elvish, with the tiles Observations Beyond the Sleeping Veil and Relations Between Gods and Fantasy.
Beyond the books she finds a couple of scrolls, charged with magic. One, she can feel arcane energies within and looking inside she can tell it is for hold person. The other, shefeels, doesn't seem to be as compatible with her, nor can she understand its spell.
Lia hauls the seven books out and shows them to the others. She also holds up the spellscrollss. "I can use this one..." She says, holding up one of the two. "It is a hold person spell. If anyone else can use it let me know, or else I'll just keep it." She holds up the second one then. "This one is not magic I understand, so someone else can take a look at it if they wish."
Valentia takes a look over at Lia and responds. "Yes, I do believe I'd be able to cast that spell, but I don't know that I need to. You should have it, as for the second one..." Valentia moves over to it and decides to try reading it.
"Right! I reckon we otta git ta know each other now tha' these things is gone. Tha name's Jororic Trollfall. Me an' Smallfry, here, was sent ta' check ou' this place."
As Lia brings over the books and scrolls he adds, "Ain't be 'elpin' me none. Doubt tis in a language I can read, 'nyways" he laughs.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Valentia and Oswin look over the remaining scroll. Valentia recognizes the scroll as containing prayer of healing.
Taking advantage of some respite, Jororic introduces himself and his dragonborn companion. Seeing Lia come up with the books and scrolls he dismisses them as he does not understand the languages they (or at least the titles) are written in.
"It's very much like those amulets you found, only it seems more natural. It's almost as if it was directly from the same place as the amulets power, albeit more primal." Nessarian responds, analyzing while he is answering.
As he does, a strange feeling washes over the group (everyone roll percentage).

A flash of fear takes his face, but he quickly composes himself, and asks a question that he seems unsure how to ask, "This may sound odd, but everyone's faces are intact, yes...?"
"Indeed an odd question... I do believe everyone's faces here are still intact, though, yes." Valentia responds, not flinching at the weird question. After she answers, her eyes start to shift a little from side to side, her mind in thought. "Can anyone hear that song? I wonder where it's coming from."
Raising an eyebrow at the question, Jororic feels his face and stroke his beard. "Tis me face still, not'ing dif'rent bout it that I can tell." Answering Valentia, he cocks his head to one side, listening and says, "now tha ye mention it, I do 'ear somethin'."
To the group at large he asks, "So do ye know what dis place is? Them shamblin' abom'nations and floatin' orb attack us, then tha' scream. Who knows what's goin' on?"
Lia frowns about the questions regarding their faces and music, but decides to let them go.
"I think we are as much in the dark about what is going on here as you are." She answers the only question that really makes sense. "We came here in the hopes we could find some lore on an ancient cult." She nods to the books. "Hopefully one of these has the information we seek in it."
Oswin looks around with a slight frown before shaking his head as if to clear it, “So, do we take the books and run? Or keep exploring to make sure we’ve found everything?”
"I thought I saw some stairs a little earlier," Smallfry says. "I can tackle any number of stairs right now. Does anyone else feel really good? Because I feel really, really good." He keeps clenching and unclenching his fists.
"I do not hear any music, so what I am seeing is just me, then..." Nessarian says, mentally taking notes.
As Lia displays the books she has found, he then says, "Perhaps they may be of some help. I don't believe I have ever even heard of such titles!"
"The shriek and what effects we are experiencing coming so close to defeating that orb may be coincidence, but it does not entirely discount them as unrelated. If that shriek, indeed, is related to those events, it's source may cause unspeakable havoc if it finds it way out!"
A series of crashes and thuds are heard from above, followed by a high-pitched roar.

If you were wondering:
Nessarian is seeing your faces melt (he had to save against being afraid of you, outside of what he sees your faces are fine)
