After your near-deadly encounter with the fire giant, it takes you the rest of the day to get to Calling Horns, where you arrive just prior to sunset. ......
In hushed tones to the others, "Mercenaries? Here? That feels odd."
Ink looks around to see how the citizens behave around the mercenaries ( Roll: 6, +0 if insight, +3 if perception )
"Let's head to the inn - a bed would be nice after a day like this."
Ink examines the necklace to see if there is any writing or runes on it, or the mark of the smith who made it.
"Marav, when did you notice anything magical on the giant? I saw your eyes flare when looking at the troll - do I assumed you were doing some detecting."
After everything is put away, Ink will take a short rest, during which he remarks, "We still need to put that bloody ring in the cart, and I'm not burning a spell on it. I am still tired - I don't have the same access to the Weave that I do when I first wake up."
The necklace weighs a cool 100 pounds, and in it are wrought Dethek runes that spell the word "Zaastrid." You aren't familiar with this word in jotun.
// As far as the adamantine ring goes, let me know how you guys are handling it. You can manage it in several minutes if you all work together, with Flint being point. //

The villagers seem to be just fine, going about their lives at the end of day—last-minute garden tending, putting animals in their pens, greeting each other on their way up to (or down from) the Inn. By all appearances this is a healthy, thriving settlement.

Ink copies the runes he read onto some loose scroll paper for future reference, places the bag of holding on the floor and drag the necklace into the bag. It takes a little bit...
// Could Ink deduce as to whether the rune is describing a regular noun/verb describing an object/action versus a proper noun, based on his knowledge of Giantish grammar? (Int check 14) Or is it a case of that this is just a style of rune Ink has never seen? //
Ink will let Flint take point on this and direct us on how to get it into the cart. Once loaded, Ink will suggest with a chuckle, "You think we should put some of this burnt troll flesh on it to dissuade people from investigating?"

It sounds like it might be a proper noun, based on its structure.
//In that case this will be the only time I try that lil' trick. (-1 on cha rolls. :) Don't like my odds.//
"I don't think the troll was beaten into servitude. We fought pretty hard and when it was clear I was going to probably best him he ran toward the giant instead of away. He had his chance and instead of taking it he went toward the giant. Unless of course there are more giants than we knew. Perhaps we should go to the inn and see what the news is. We need to find a place to deal with this ring first."
//Is their signs of a good sized blacksmith? Something enough to melt this ring down?//

Marav is aware that the troll ran away because there was an inexplicable sphere of fire foiling his attempts to get at the bear. Had the troll been aware that Marav was the one controlling the sphere, he would have stopped at nothing to tear the druid limb-from-limb.
For the ring, during the short rest, Flint used Artisan's Blessing to create a block and tackle. Will use that plus any crowbar we might have to work the ring onto the wagon.

// Good thinking! I'll move you guys forward into the Calling Horns Inn, if that's where you'd like to be heading. //
You have all shown gumption, bravery, and ingenuity in your encounter with the giant, and each of you are thus awarded Inspiration.
If the Calling Horns is on the way to where he are headed for Rip that's fine, but Flint's thinking where there are two enormous adamantine divining rods, there could be three. Do we have any way to mask the ring from divination?
Ink replies, "Leomund's Hut prevents any magic from entering, but I don't know if we cast it on the cart, it'll move with the cart or not. It would be stationary in relation to the cart, but I don't know if the Weave follows the laws of relativity... But we could try."

There is no forge you know of, outside the great Dwarven forges, that can be used to melt down adamantine. A village blacksmith just doesn't have the heat required.
Your original plan, I believe, was to travel to one of these dwarven strongholds for further inquiries and/or melting of the metal. Felbarr is just over the Nether Mountains from Everlund, and the dwarf smith Foehammer recommended you to the king and queen there, so if I'm not mistaken, the thought was to continue on to the citadel after delivering Darathra's message to Everlund.

Fine by me if we have to dwarf-handle it. We'll bring the cat as close as we can first.
Marav explains what he saw magic wise. He pulls up his hood and stands near the cart and Boris. Trying to blend in.
