Ink hits starts a small fire and incinerates the trolls body for good measure - removing the dried brush around it so that the fire doesn't spread beyond.
Ink will afterwards help Marav search the giant's body, both for loot and possibly orders or other such information.
// Oh - we don't have to, in just thought it was a requirement of the spell ... And we should move prior to resting, given Ink lit the area up with fireballs... Lmk, either way. //
//if it requires a rest I wasn't aware of it, just takes 10 minutes to cast tho. I don't mind rolling but we've got a bit of work to do before we go.//
Away, during the fight you described the ring as broken. Is that new or was it always broken?
“I wouldn’t mind a short rest. It’ll give me some time to recollect my Ki. Also, is it just me or was that one fire giant as hard as the two we faced in Triboar.”
There's a nearby campsite with a campfire still smoldering that someone left behind, so it will provide a nice place for a quick bite and a sit-down if you'd like to have a short rest now.

// Out of curiosity, did The troll make either of its saves against the fireball? //
"Regardless on what we find on this fire giant, Marav, her adamantine rod is going in the bag of holding, too. Extra chances to use a locate object free of charge is never a bad thing," Ink says as he helps Marav rummage through the fire giant's pockets and other gear. "Too bad we can't take this lady's armor, too - it would probably give us great credibility at whatever city we get to next - after we help Rip that is."

// The ring was always broken at one point from what I remember. //
//Before Ink starts the fire, I want to cast detect magic and look at the troll and giant for magic items. :)//
A magic aura surrounds the objects that you would expect (your bow, Ink's ruby-hilted sword, the giant's adamantine rod). You detect nothing magical about the troll, but you do notice signs of very recent healing after trauma caused by multiple impacts of heavy bludgeoning (much heavier than any of you dealt to it).

Before burning the troll, you and Marav both notice signs of recent trauma that was freshly healed over—big patches of newly regrown flesh, suggesting that this troll was heavily beaten within the last hour.
Searching the giant yields a pouch; within which are an empty ale cask and a empty 4-foot burlap sack, which smells strongly of mushrooms and dead fish. The giant herself was wearing a necklace adorned with iron ingots. The giant was also carrying her massive axe, and the adamantine rod which is tucked into her belt and is more or less identical to the one you already procured in Triboar.
The burning troll gives off a nasty and pungent aroma, which is somehow also very satisfying and cathartic. You aren't accosted at all during your rest, and don't see anyone approaching from any direction at this time.
// Go ahead and mark off the short rest on your character sheet, and let me know when you're ready to proceed! (If indeed you're still following the Evermoor Way) //
After your near-deadly encounter with the fire giant, it takes you the rest of the day to get to Calling Horns, where you arrive just prior to sunset.
If you've travelled through this area at all in the last 10 years, you're surprised to see the transformation. Where previously there was just an inn (called "The Calling Horns") at the close of the War of Silver Marches, there is now a growing settlement, with dirt roads connecting several small homesteads to the Inn at the junction of the Evermoor Way & Jundar's Pass. The intersection is marked by a cairn of weathered and lichen-covered orc skulls that commemorates the long-ago slaughter of a horde here.
The village proper is made up of rows of small log cottages with bark-shingled rooftops, and is patrolled by several well-armed men and women with no insignia—a Mercenary guard. They smile and nod at your arrival in a casually-mannered greeting. The Calling Horns Inn, a large fieldstone structure with adjoining stables, stands atop a ridge that overlooks the intersection, surrounded by tall, old trees. You've heard rumors—and perhaps sampled for yourself—that the inn’s cellar contains an impressive selection of ales and wines.

Ink sighs, "Not that I'm one to shed a tear for a troll, but I get the feeling that this one was beaten into submitting and aiding this fire giant - which is cruel."
Looking over the giant's items, Ink muses, "I don't think we'll be taking that axe or armor anywhere, but I think I will try and fit in that adamantine rod into the bag of holding as well as her necklace."
Ink examines the necklace to see if there is any writing or runes on it, or the mark of the smith who made it.
"Marav, when did you notice anything magical on the giant? I saw your eyes flare when looking at the troll - do I assumed you were doing some detecting."
After everything is put away, Ink will take a short rest, during which he remarks, "We still need to put that bloody ring in the cart, and I'm not burning a spell on it. I am still tired - I don't have the same access to the Weave that I do when I first wake up."
