Ink tends to his wounds (//HD 21 hp plus 2 hp from PoH//), as Quill keeps watch circling ahead, and then meditates for a moment taking in the Weave of arcane energy around him (//arcane recovery//). 

With several mlles of travel, you are able to get some good distance from the forest across the rocky, uncultivated terrain of this stretch of the Savage Frontier. The fire withers the craggy grass near the treeline, but it burns out before it is able to spread across the landscape.

The Evermoor Road lays before you, up high in elevation and bending slightly north away from the High Forest. From here, you can see the smoke that now billows from the old forest, pluming up to form low clouds of ash gray.

"That damn Illithid and his meteors causing all that damage.... What a shame," Ink says with a cough.

"Shall we take the road then?" Ink asks the group.

Then to Quill, "Fly above and keep a lookout - we'll rest this evening."

Marav keeps his eyes forward and nods slightly... "Damn Illithid."

Flint is being moody driving the cart. It's all grunts and harrumphs from him. 

"What's got you upset, Flint?" Ink asks, possibly opening up a can of worms he'd rather not open.

"Sorry lad. Just tryin' ta figure out what ta tell Moradin when 'e asks me about Noaner's Hold."

The Evermoor Way wends ever closer to the Evermoors to the north, and thankfully the fires don't seem to be burning this far north—at least, not yet! 

You meet not another soul on the road for a few hours, until you happen on Lezryk Daerivoss, the noble you'd seen ride out with his brother. He is all alone, riding back west on the road, and seems to be avoiding eye contact with you.

Ink flags him down, "Oy, Lezryk! How goes it? Did you claim vengeance upon that fire giant that killed your brother?"

 He is sporting a small wound, a fine cut, on his cheek. The cut is almost hidden by his beard. 

“Hello, compatriot. Did you avoid the undead horde and forest fire? You appear injured. Do you require healing?”

"From the looks of you, you didn't find that fire giant yet, but you tussled with something." Marav pauses a brief second before continuing, "I suspect it's pretty obvious we've not had an easy go of it either. Anything around here we should be wary of specifically? Especially if we can avoid it."

The lone, eldest Daerivoss brother rubs his cheek, absent-minded.

"Oh...yes, the giants," he says evasively. "Sadly, my brother Marthun perished at the hands of those brutes and I was forced to flee with my life. No healing is necessary, thank you." He waits by the side of the road for you to pass him.
