Seeing harshnag burst into action, flint tries to hitch a ride, grabbing for a belt loop as he gets up, planning to let go just before we reach the torchlight.
As you all follow Harshnag in his charge, you see the shapes in the flickering torchlight turn and begin to run towards you, weapons drawn. Their furs and animal skins come into view as they draw closer, and you can hear them yelling impassioned war cries in a primitive tongue. Barbarians!
Powerful in stature and fair of skin, each of these warriors have rage painted on their faces...in addition to actual paint.
Among the human barbarians there seem to be some dark shapes flitting about, going to and fro among their ranks, advancing with them.
// The map reflects (more or less) the state of things! Crowns guard and Marav (the fastest) are one move away from engaging the barbarians (50 ft). Harshnag and Flint are two of Harshnag’s moves away (60 ft). Ink is about 80 feet out, and Rip is about 90 feet out.
Harshnag thunders forward, dropping Flint about 20 feet from the front and dashing in to engage the Barbarians! The armored giant roars with ferocious glee, his swinging greataxe silhouetted against the single torch as he taunts the savage attackers.
As he closes in on the barbarians, the flitting spirits accompanying the barbarians leap out at Harshnag, and he swats at them ineffectively.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Flint steps away from harshnag to guard his flank and casts spirit guardians, wis dc14, first turn damage for those entering range is 11. Excluding all friendlies.

Ink, with a song, enacts his bladesong, getting a burst of speed and pushes forward forty feet.
Ink sees the torchlight, held by a single barbarian, and raises his blade - the ruby of the war mage glows... The torch matches. Suddenly, the flame explodes with a pyrotechnics flare!
// CON SAVE 15 or Fireworks. The target explodes with a dazzling display of colors. Each creature within 10 feet of the target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or become blinded until the end of your next turn. //
Ink about forty feet away from the mass of battle, searches for his next target.
// Edited to reflect the fact that I just read how far away Ink was... //
Ink’s pyrotechnics display creates a dazzling display of colors, at the same time extinguishing the only source of light in the room. You are now all fighting in complete darkness!
// Unless there is a source of light, Marav will need to first use his action to find his chosen target (Perception automatically succeeds thanks to his senses) and then attack on the following round. //
Flint steps away from harshnag to guard his flank and casts spirit guardians, wis dc14, first turn damage for those entering range is 12. Excluding all friendlies.
// i stepped flint forward a bit, planning for the lead barbarian to be just outside the spell when cast //
// just to confirm, the creatures exluded by Flint would be the player characters, Harshnag, Steele, Quill, and Elk. //
// Plus any mounts we may still have with us. If someone has a frog in their pocket, I apologize in advance if a spectral dwarf swings a battle axe at their crotch. //

Before you is a huge set of stairs which the barbarians have bounded down to meet you. Each step is at least 5 feet in height and they rise up into darkness.Between you and the stairs is a squad of vicious warriors, who have rage in their eyes. The lone torch is held by a female who holds no other implement currently.
Crownsguard's armblade swings in an imposing arc, striking hard but meeting resistance with the second swing as he squares off against two barbarians.
Then quite suddenly, Ink’s fireworks display dazzles the entire party of barbarians. It also terrorizes the horse on which Crownsguard rides, causing the beast to rear up and throw Crownsguard off, before it bolts off in the direction of the entrance, its hooves clattering on the hard stone floor. The largest of the barbarians reacts quickly, pulling his cape over his eyes to keep from being blinded, before urging his men forward.
The entire area is plunged momentarily plunged into darkness. However, Rip’s arrival with the magical light allows Marav to target one of the barbarians, a male warrior clad in fur. He goes down with Marav’s large wolf form on top of him, trying to reach his weapon. You can see that several of the barbarians have suddenly lost their ability to see.
The largest of the barbarians yells something again in their guttural tongue, urging an attack. As he does, a shining white blur passes overhead and with a rush of wings, the group of you is surrounded in a sudden flurry of burning frost!
// Ink, Rip, Elk, and Flint please make a Constitution saving throw //
The pale monster flies overhead from north to south and perches on the southern ledge, icy plumes still swirling from its cruel snout. A white dragon!
The big barbarian sneers at you, and you can see his bearded face is covered in dried blood. Meanwhile, the other barbarians (1 man, two women, all huge and muscular) that can see push past their blinded brethren against Marav and Crownsguard, while the blinded ones (3 men) lash out blindly, recklessly. The fiendish spirits still flit about them, seeming to lend a supernatural edge to this rage with which they fight.
// All attacks against these barbarians who’ve attacked this round are made with advantage, regardless of whether they are blinded. //
The first group attacks Marav...
Axe Attack: 18 Damage: 9 slashing
Axe Attack: 13 Damage: 22 slashing
Axe Attack: 15 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll. slashing
The second group attacks Crownsguard...
Axe Attack: 19 Damage: 9 slashing
Axe Attack: 24 Damage: 7 slashing
Axe Attack: 8 Damage: 15 slashing
(If you are hit by an attack, add 2 necrotic damage to the dadage for each hit)
(Also, sorry, damage for the dragon breath is 28 cold. DC 13 CON save for half damage)
Another of the female barbarians, who wears a headdress decorated with several finger-length teeth, holds up a bloodied hand as she backs up slightly, blinded, until her foot hits the bottom step. She is chanting something quietly, and mostly shrouded in darkness at this point, being just beyond the point of Rip’s light—probably not by intention. She still cannot see.
Seeing harshnag burst into action, flint tries to hitch a ride, grabbing for a belt loop as he gets up, planning to let go just before we reach the torchlight.
Harshnag allows this, and scoops Flint up as he runs so that Flint doesn’t fall.
