To Prove D&D Exists for Echolon

When Ilyara returned to the others, she immediately held up a finger in front of her muzzle in the universal "Shhh!" gesture.  Conjuring up a minor illusion (no verbal components required), she produced an image of the creatures she saw, using the tip of her sword to draw attention to their lack of eyes.  She pointed at her own ear, flipping it a few times, then produced another illusion of a few words floating in midair: "they sniff, they listen, they don't see.  Can't fight them in the dark."

Toots holds up her hand and starts individually extending fingers, first one, then two, then three, and then shrugs questioningly in an attempt to ask how many of them there are. (In case it’s required- Performance: 27)

 Ilyara holds up four fingers, then remembers Tommary was doing stuff with a crossbow and waits for the DM to resolve that before doing anything else.

Tommary simply whispers with the obvious words hissed for emphases, "so four of em are creeping this way, through a light activated oven. I call that a strategy.  I'm gonna try to take a shot in the dark to light em up, y'all can hold my beer or hold me back."

OOC: DM, what sort of check, if any, do I need to turn a hand crossbow bolt into a floor lamp halfway down the plate tunnel, or in the midst of the upper/lower creeping formation?

 OOC: You would need to cast Light on the bolt then fire it down the hall. Since it is already lit, you have no trouble hitting whatever you want - AC 10 to stick it where you want, AC 5 if you just want a general 10 x 10 space.

Tommary dramatic pauses long enough for anyone to arrest his plan (OOC: if anyone wants him to hold up, reach out in there post and the following doesn't happen).  Otherwise, he proceeds like Archduke Ferdinand, casting light on his bolt, taking the corner and rather than trying to hand a light in the hard rock ceiling tries to land a lantern in the floor grime about a yard or so in before the creepers.  Hand X-Bow Attack: 15 Damage: 8

Tommary loads a dart then enchants it with brilliant light before launching it down the hall. *FWIP*!

Just before launching his bolt, you see a cloud of smoke or vapor blocking the end of the passage. His shot flies into it and impacts the floor. You hear something scrabbling madly on stone. Shadows play chaotically from the glowing cloud, then silence. 

*Whispering* “Do you think it worked? We’re they wearing metal?” Toots creeps forward to check.

Toots stumbles a bit and clangs off one of the walls, she wonders, are things getting hot?

Touching a buckle, ouch! Yeah, that's hot! You can smell leather bits and cloth beginning to bake.

This is at about the 30 foot mark.

OOC: The hallway is lit from the bolt, you just can't see past the cloud.

“Ahh, Shit!” Yells Toots as she dashes her little feet across the floor back towards the others.

OOC: So am I feeling hot or am I feeling heat from the metal?  Like not advisable to use my sabre as my spell focus?  Because if they're listening they're set up for shatter and my more verbal repertoire.

OOC: You are correct, my intent was to ignite the "oven" with the bolt, wasn't sure I was getting any radiating affect or it was a direct convection (? I don't know a lot about ovens/broilers).  I was confused by Toots' buckle warning after IRL furniture assembly with no air conditioning or breeze today.

Then, IC Tommary draws his saber on the approaching Marco Polos and casts shatter 2nd level at a point between the quartet.  10' radius, CON save 13 for half or take 10 Thunder Damage, inorganic material is at disadvantage, nonmagical objects in the AoE take damage as well.  Figuring the noise may redirect their attention "inward" and maybe some collateral stuff falls to our advantage.

Probably my last post of the night so if this is needed or a bassackwards submission Initiative 15

EDIT: Shatter's got a 60' range, I get at them with it as soon as they're in the zone.

Toots whips her lute around, points at the three closest to her and says “we are gonna kick your scrawny, wrinkled asses,” and runs her hand up and down the neck of her lute. (The motion somehow creating a sound that might remind Tommary of the sound some of those hand-boomers he has seen in the archives make whenever the wielder racks them.) Having met the needs for Voice, Shape, and Mater, her Will lays a bane upon them. (They have to make DC 15 Cha saves, any that fail must subtract 1d4 from all saves for duration.)
