For me, Church is a whole lot bigger than just a Sunday service - it’s the people in fellowship with Christ and each other.
I couldn't put it better myself-- not every church can provide you with that sense of fellowship, and I fully understand not attending when you've been let down by one before, but... the sense of community is bigger than anything a priest or pastor can stand up and tell you, when you do find it. And especially if you're living in a city where maybe you don't have close neighbors, then you get to meet people you can turn to, and bond with.
I've been in churches where I wasn't comfortable-- I think it's a natural part of moving to a new place and looking for a new church home, especially if you wind up in a town with few options, or if you specifically need a reconciling congregation because other churches are less welcoming to you. So I'm not unsympathetic to people who feel burned out by it all. But the ones I remember most are the ones that were welcoming and that had that sense of community, whether I was there as a member, a visitor still weighing the decision of where to join, or a guest at a friend's or relative's.
My parents are, but me and my brother are both agnostic. We also play with a Jewish kid, a kid I don't know what his religion is a half-Jewish-half-Christian kid and I THINK hes Buddhist kid

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (you likely know us as Mormons).
My jealousy about how the Mormons can marry a bunch of women is growing.... and growing.... and growing...... so high .....
Yep, this isn't a thing. It's a common misconception, so no worries.
Haha it's probably the second- or third-most frequent question I'd be asked when I served as a missionary for the Church in the Dominican Republic a couple of years back.

Yeah, it's normally these 3 questions:
Why don't you drink caffeine?
Why do you worship Joseph Smith?
Why do you have a ton of wives?
None of those are accurate, but super frequently asked.

See I understand that people are being polite but most people I know don’t consider Mormons to be Christians for the following reasons:
•Mormons dismissing the rest of Christianity as wrong. Including dismissing everything from the apostles up until Joseph Smith •God not as Trinity, but 3-4 distinct beings (divine mother in there somewhere) who arn’t truly distinctly God as most Christians believe and incur several heresies. •Mormons becoming gods and ruling their own planet at some point...
I think the prior are important distinctions that are a huge barrier to being part of the communion of the church.
Certainly Mormonism and historic Christianity have some deep differences (I think most people regard them as separate religions), but we need to be careful this thread doesn't turn into a religious debate.

Agreed. Let’s refrain from debating and critiquing each other’s faith, traditions, please.

Not going to debate doctrine or anything here, just wanted to say this:
We believe in Christ, isn't that the definition of Christianity? All different denominations of Christianity believe in different things and consider all other churches to be incorrect in certain aspects, but that doesn't make them any less christian. We don't believe in the Trinity, we do believe that we can become like God in the afterlife, but I don't think that makes us any less Christian.
Anyways, just wanted to clear things up. I don't want this to be turned into a thread about church-shaming or anything, just wanted to make sure my place in the thread wasn't being questioned.
