Maybe they feel more with nature when they turn into animals or something? And maybe for Wild Shape they can turn into hybrid versions of animals as well as the fully animal form, like that of a Lycan.

Yeah, I was thinking that. Maybe there's just a set statblock they use for their hybrid form that improves by their level or something. Also being able to talk in the hybrid form, so they can still cast spells, would have to keep that in mind while making and balancing the hybrid statblock though.

Though looking at the Circle of the Moon, it seems to be based around Lycans already. (The abilities are mostly focused on Wild Shape buffs)

Maybe it doesn't increase their hp when they turn into hybrid form, but it gives them a bonus to AC and natural weapons (claws and such) and they can still cast spells?
