You touch a creature or at least 1 cubic inch of its flesh. An inert duplicate of that creature forms inside the vessel used in the spell’s casting and finishes growing after 120 days; you choose whether the finished clone is the same age as the creature or younger. The clone remains inert and endures indefinitely while its vessel remains undisturbed. If the original creature dies after the clone…

Cloakers are mysterious Underdark predators, named by adventurers for their resemblance to hanging cloaks when they cling to walls. What cloakers call themselves is unknown, if they refer to themselves at all. Though they’re undeniably intelligent, their behavior is often inscrutable. Cloakers sometimes gather in Underdark enclaves, but they rarely build settlements or form social structures.…

The Manshoon of today retains all his progenitor’s arrogance and duplicity. Manshoon keeps several other clones at hand to activate if necessary. He also employs the Simulacrum spell to duplicate himself, his allies, and even his rivals. Manshoon knows that keeping people guessing about hidden identities makes them easier to manipulate. Manshoon usually wears a mask and concealing robes when…

On the porch, a woman in red robes lies unconscious, engulfed in a beam of light from the telescope. Until the mechanical globe in the top-floor room is destroyed, the telescope cannot be moved, and the beam cannot be turned off or obstructed.

Characters can enter the room at the top floor either by the stairs or through the doors on the telescope porch.

This mechanical device is a crucible in which the vremyonni is meant to forge the powerful weapon. It has no other obvious powers and can be destroyed either by dealing 50 Hit Points of damage to it or by defeating the cambion. When the device shatters, its connection to the telescope on the porch is severed, freeing the wizard there.

Rogues are at home in the shadows, slipping into the darkness to evade their enemies, strike down unsuspecting foes, or carry off great treasures. Some Rogues feel a strange presence when they slip into the darkness, whispers at the edge of their hearing. These Rogues hear the call of the shadow, and they are fated to become bound. The darkness can sense a void in a creature’s heart, a yearning…

A bodytaker podling is a near-perfect replica of a creature consumed by a bodytaker plant. A podling possesses the appearance and memories of the being it duplicates, but it is entirely loyal to the bodytaker plant that created it. Fundamentally, a podling isn’t its own creature but an expendable appendage of a bodytaker plant. Bodytaker podlings frequently exhibit behaviors that suggest their…

Devil of Guile and Temptation With a name that hints at their skill at gathering souls for the Nine Hells, harvester devils are smooth-talking creatures that resemble tieflings. Also known as falxugons among the ranks of the Nine Hells, harvester devils have short horns and expressive tails. Most harvester devils dress in flattering finery. They promise wealth or influence to corruptible mortals,…

Aiming a ranged attack is more difficult when a foe is next to you. When you make a ranged attack roll with a weapon, a spell, or some other means, you have Disadvantage on the roll if you are within 5 feet of an enemy who can see you and doesn’t have the Incapacitated condition (see the rules glossary).

Unfortunately, finding these dandyish devils’ contractual loopholes is not nearly as much fun as I had hoped. —ASTARION ON HARVESTER DEVILS

Once all the characters set foot in the clearing and announce their presence and intentions, the walls seal off the opening to the clearing, preventing escape. Keeping It Spontaneous Have the characters declare themselves heroes in the most impressive way they can before Uncle Marcus appears. The powers that lie beneath will not be moved by timid, fearful voices. The spirits that had been…

You create a simulacrum of one Beast or Humanoid that is within 10 feet of you for the entire casting of the spell. You finish the casting by touching both the creature and a pile of ice or snow that is the same size as that creature, and the pile turns into the simulacrum, which is a creature. It uses the game statistics of the original creature at the time of casting, except it is a Construct,…

Your skill in close combat enables you to inflict crushing blows while keeping your opponent off balance. When you hit a creature with an attack roll using a Melee weapon, you can take a Reaction to deal an extra 2d6 damage of the same type dealt by the weapon. That creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn. The damage becomes 4d6 when you reach Monster…

When a throng of zombies becomes inextricably tangled or multiple swarms of zombie limbs coalesce, the result is a zombie clot—a putrid mass of rotten flesh with a singular will.

In their natural forms, mimics are little more than roaming stomachs, their blobby bodies covered with alien eyes and teeth. They can alter their color, texture, and dimensions to duplicate inanimate objects of their approximate size. Mimics use their disguises as both camouflage and bait. Once victims draw close, mimics strike, lashing out with their sticky pseudopods and toothy mouths. After…
