Just noticed that the full character sheet view is available on my iPad on landscape view. So happy about that and embarrassed I didn't notice til now since I usually use portrait mode during the game to conserve table space.
I love the increased ability to customize, but I would REALLY like to see the ability to change proficiency when it comes to TOOLS AND INSTRUMENTS. Namely, removing them and replacing them with homebrew tools.
For example, I'm a non-musical bard, and so my "instruments" are not musical at all. I'd like to be able to select the homebrew "instruments" I've created as my proficiencies, either during the character creation process, or in the final sheet. I can do this to a point, but I can't remove the standard instrument proficiencies I had to pick earlier.

Hi there,
you could not select those instruments during character creation - just leave those dropdowns blank.
If they are from the character background, you could customize the background during creation and remove/change the instrument proficiencies.

Had this same issue during a game last night where the tablet view was causing headaches. Someone suggested trying landscape and it magically got all better :)
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation."
Same goes for a Barbarian while raging - there should be an on/off toggle/checkbox that will then have "resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, slashing damage" appear in the "Defenses: Resistances" box near AC; as well as automatically increase damage outputs accordingly.
The new character sheet has been a big hit with my group. I even had players offering to help me pay my subscription after a session using them (this is out of the ordinary). It takes us a nice step along the way to DDB becoming our one stop shop for gaming aids. For the DM, the addition of some sort of DM dashboard, which gives the ability to view characters, track monster hp, etc. would take us most of the way there.
For my players, the next thing would be the ability to roll dice in app (saving throws, attacks, damage, etc.). So, I know that a 'die roller' has been suggested elsewhere, but I'd like to offer a thought (probably not original). I'd like a die roller which is smart and uses the info that DDB has to simplify things.
So, say you have a rogue. You click to attack. A popup comes up that lets you click a box for sneak attack so that sneak attack damage is rolled with the attack. Maybe you have the magic initiate feat and have green flame blade. Maybe it lets you click whether you are doing your attack through the spell. That damage gets rolled too! Yay!
You are a battlemaster-- you click to attack, popup comes up that lets you select among your various maneuvers. Extra damage is rolled, Save DC and type of save shows up with the damage. Superiority dice checkbox is checked automatically.
Best example-- You are a relatively high level paladin with a holy avenger. You click your attack. You are given checkboxes for whether your opponent is a fiend or undead and whether you'd like to channel divine smite using a spell slot. This came up just the other night. My buddy was trying to figure out how many dice of damage he had to roll based on a bunch of situational factors. So, even using the digital sheet, he was clicking around to figure out all the situational modifiers. It occurred to both of us that DDB already has all this info in the database. Wouldn't it be nice if he could have just clicked on his holy avenger, checked the appropriate boxes and then boom-- it rolls all the damage and checks off the spell slots and he doesn't have to search around at all? It would be nice.
We would love that. We would love that a lot. It would speed up our game a lot.
This change log? The palm trees are XGtE backdrop 4 from pre-ordering XGtE.
What about this one?
It's a custom style using css overrides before anyone asks - not something that's actually on D&D Beyond. :)
Ah, okay. That'll teach me for not pre-ordering stuff.
But it turns out the CSS override is pretty straightforward to implement (at least for a reasonably experienced web developer), so that'll work for now. :)
I love the new sheets! Small suggestion for homebrew magic items.
I made an item that imposes both a bonus to an ability as well as disadvantage on certain ability checks when in use. When the item is equipped, the bonuses are reflected on the character sheet, but the disadvantage is not. Some kind of indicator next to those abilities for advantage/disadvantage would be useful when checking at a glance.
So, for the hell of it I was making a wizard with terrible intelligence and who would act as a melee fighter. Gave them Green-Flame Blade and Booming Blade of course. Once character creation was done, I noticed that the to hit for those two cantrips was being calculated as lower than the melee weapon attack (+1 compared to the +6)

Sorry if this has been requested before (and if it has, please, please PLEASE link me to the original post so I can reference it), but would it be possible to included equipment/items with charges in the "Limited Use" section like they used to be? Because that's for sure were I look for them still and then spend several minutes trying to remember that they're only in the Equipment sub-header. I love the new revamp, especially after the recent updates, but this is definitely a feature that is missed dearly.
This request may not all be in the right place so I apologize in advance, but I would love the ability to add custom abilities to Homebrew Weapons so that they now appear in the new action economy sections of the character section. Also is it on purpose or an oversight that disadvantages imposed via magical item aren't notated anywhere on the character sheet?
Thank you guys so much for all of your headwork and I really appreciate all the work you have/continue to put into this amazing platform. Your dedication and love are very much appreciated.

For now i can just override it, however thought it should be noted the sheet is currently calculating it using the wrong stats :)
(To add to this ^ :) Even if we homebrew a copy of this spell to adjust it in the spell builder settings itself, there doesn't appear to be a way to do this as of now (i.e. add Strength modifier rather than spellcasting modifier). Unless I'm missing something.
There should be an option to use a different ability score for to hit and weapon damage calculations. For example, in the drop down menu of "advanced" spell features (under spell description), where it asks for melee or ranged attacks (implied melee *spell* attack or ranged *spell* attack by default), there should be additional options "melee weapon attack" and "ranged weapon attack" for spells similar to booming blade and green-flame blade.
I've removed some comments that had devolved into an argument between people, not contributing to the discussion.
Please don't do that folks. :)

AGREED! :D
Hey, looking at the screen capture from the most recent changelog post... that backdrop doesn't look like any of the currently available ones.
Is this a hint about the next release? :)

I believe that was part of Xanathar's, or maybe just the pre-order. I assume you are talking about the one with the palm trees.

Wanting to make sure I wasn't miss interpreting the rules I looked up rulings on it. Seems a few people have asked Jeremy Crawford about it. He has stated its meant to use the melee attack and not spell attack. https://www.sageadvice.eu/2016/01/20/green-flame-blade-melee-attack-mod-or-spell-attack-mod/

Thanks for spotting this!
I don't know if there's a dark/night mode color scheme and I'm just not finding it, but it would be nice. The white strains my eyes.
I don't like it. I like the old one better. Please give the option for the old one.
This has been addressed, it’s not happening. Instead provide constructive feedback on what ways the new sheet is not meeting your needs.
