So I currently have a lvl 5 Mountain dwarf Battlemaster fighter in a campaign that will likely end somewhere between lvl 10 and lvl 12.
My question here is, does it make any sense to dip into Barbarian for 3 levels (to lvl 8) and go back to fighter, or should I just stick with Fighter? I'm not terribly excited about indomitable at fighter lvl 9, or the additional martial archetype at fighter 10. So would it we worth it to potentially sacrifice that 3rd attack at fighter 11, in order to gain bear totem and be resistant to most damage and have reckless attacks? (Is a great weapon master).
In terms of effectiveness, I see the barbarian as by far more effective with high resistances as you go totem warrior, although, I could be completely wrong about this as I'm a forever DM who knows nothing about builds.
I mean, from what you've said, it wouldn't be a *bad* decision. Fighter/barb is a pretty solid multiclass by default. You can even explain it as being a heightened battle sense over rage: You just got so focused in a fight you "see red" as it were.

Trying to get your physical content on Beyond is like going to Microsoft and saying "I have a physical Playstation disk, give me a digital Xbox version!"
I'm confused by you reference to "the additional martial archetype at fighter 10." This is not a fighter 10 feature. Nor is there anything close to it that I can see. Am I missing something?

It's a second martial archetype feature. Improved Combat Superiority for the Battle Master.

Keep in mind that rage doesn't give you anything if you're in heavy armor (which I assume is what a mountain dwarf battlemaster would be wearing), so your AC might take a hit. But yes, it's a great combo. In addition to benefits already mentioned, Danger Sense is pretty great too.

Losing that third attack is a pretty big loss, but I think getting the resistance granted by Bear Totem is about equal in terms of viability.
