I figured it had to, but just couldn't find a confirmation anywhere. :)
Appreciated.

Also note that it is only the actual dollar amount spent that comes off, so if you buy a book with a discount code, only the actual paid amount comes off. there are several people who ended up with all the books, but would still have to pay over $100 to get the legendary bundle that would add nothing but the discount.

Is the just released map pack included in the legendary bundle for new purchases? It seems the answer is no, based on the current text. If no, will it eventually be incorporated?
Hi! I just noted the discussion about the promised 15% discount on future digital content not applying to certain “digital” “content”, e.g., digital maps that you arbitrarily placed, after the fact, in a separate purchase category.
I was close to pulling the trigger on the legendary bundle, and my decision really was based in part on this discount. But this discussion turns me off immensely. If I can’t trust the plain meaning of your words, why would I purchase ANY product from you, let alone your most expensive?
Disappointed that you treat your paying customers this way; in retrospect, I’m glad not to be one!
Hi! I just noted the discussion about the promised 15% discount on future digital content not applying to certain “digital” “content”, e.g., digital maps that you arbitrarily placed, after the fact, in a separate purchase category.
Good afternoon Jogger08152,
In the discussion about product types that you mention, the staff responded to acknowledge the poor communication and to address the forward-looking concerns. Us moderators have been told that once the new bundle types are released, all product types will have a forward-looking discount, so the discount you seek would still be available for everything - just separated where other fans that might not want map packs with their books can opt out of those purchases. We were relayed that more news will be shared about new bundle types as soon as they are finalized.
Too bad that thread was locked. I too felt as if when I got the legendary bundle that it meant 15% off all future products. I get they want to do things, but i do feel cheated, and yeah, it was only $2.25 IF you bought it, but how many more will come out that I will buy at FULL price before they decide to make a bundle of them and then START to get the discount? Thus over time, I will have shelled out more than i feel like i should have have, i do agree that they do need to change the wording, sorry, though they are maps, they are still a digital product. Now I am more worried about when they start to offer non-wotc stuff and have to start a whole new bundle that I would have to pay full price for again because they will just make a new catagory and the same thing happens over and over.
So we now have Adam's word about what is a Digital product and what is a Digital Map. If they change it again to exclude something and say it is a digital whatever, it would be a good way to lose customers or stifle future sales. Best to lay things out front instead of "Hiding it" just because they do not want to have to answer about future products. But this is only my opinion and i am just a customer who pays them, but eh. whatever.
Honestly, i bought the map pack and was not impressed at all. I would advise anyone to skip it and would probably skip the bundle going forward if the rest of the products are the same.

This is not correct. You will not be cheated out of even the $2.25. By buying the new bundle type, you will receive previous purchase credit for the total amount you paid (which will include the additional two dollars and twenty five cents), and the map pack bundle would have the discount. You will pay the exact same as you would have if the first map pack was included in the Legendary Bundle. The issue - for the temporary short term - is we don't yet have that separated bundle in place. If you would like a refund for the map pack, even in the meantime, our support team is happy to help with that.
Regardless, when faced with a decision about what could mean short term communication difficulty and confusion or the long term erosion of the best value for our most compelling product offering (LB), we had to go with what makes sense longer term. This says nothing to excuse the poor communication, which we have already provided apology for and addressed.
So we now have Adam's word about what is a Digital product and what is a Digital Map. Unfortunately "laying things out in front" is not always a possibility, because A) sometimes things change based on a variety of circumstances, both community and business driven, and B) sharing some things would literally cost us our license to even support D&D.
I genuinely believe that we are one of the most transparent companies around today - we (particularly myself as I type this at 1 AM) engage with the community, listen to and respond to feedback, admit mistakes and improve, and share in the excitement with as only fellow fans can on a level that I have not (personally) seen with any other shop out there. I don't say this to boast in any way. I say it to accentuate how important it is for us to be as open as possible.
Having said that, we still can't tell you everything right this second - it's just not how it works with NDAs, legal guidelines, and I think that's widely known and reasonable.
What I can tell you is this - no, the Legendary Bundle will not and was never intended to give you a 15% discount on every single kind of product we plan to eventually sell. When we start selling actual dice with RF chips in them so you can roll a real die and still get the benefits of the math being done for you in DDB, no, we can't include that. Knowing the exciting new directions we're exploring with DDB, we see that it is best to go ahead and make the delineation now so any of this confusion that we've seen can be dealt with and there's no ambiguity going forward.
What I can also tell you is this - for every new kind of product we sell, the intent will always be to reward those that want to go "all in" on them with a bundle, and those bundles will have forward-looking discounts. The net sum of that approach means those that still want to buy all the things will still pay no more than they would have if everything stayed under the LB umbrella, but the benefit is fans can have the flexibility of purchasing only what they want.

I mean, I'm fairly certain it was a joke, but hot damn if that wouldn't be pure awesome if true!
There was a reddit post awhile back where some nerds in some sort of engineering contest built a D&D table in twenty-four hours. It had an internal projector underneath that projected the map upwards and because it had an interactive functionality, they could program it read dice rolled on the table and then use it in a rudimentary character sheet they designed that was also projected up to the screen. It was exceptionally awesome.

I concur. Please keep the thread on topic with the original post. Debates regarding bundled features has been discussed and answered on this thread and shouldn't be responded to across others.
Thanks very much for a comprehensive, honorable reply! Very cool and much appreciated. Can you please clarify: the (brilliant!) hypothetical RF dice are indisputably not a digital product. A component of their output may be, but I would never feel “cheated” by a non-discount in a case like this. *Purely* informational products (e.g., maps, art, modules, choose-your-own-adventure style gamebooks, etc) are different though.
Apart from maps, can you foresee any other contemplated, purely digital product or product category that would be exempt from the discount promised as part of the legendary bundle?
Basically I don’t want to find myself feeling cheated sometime in the future by (what then appears to be) arbitrarily removing my discount by classifying a digital product as part of some as yet undreamt-of taxonomic product classification.
Simply put, I want to understand what I’m *actually* getting in a pledge of future considerations before I make the purchase.

Please clarify, that products from third-party companies - if there will be a deal with one of these companies in the future - will also not automatically be included in the discount regulations of the Legendary Bundle. For me and many others that's opvious, but before people get this wrong again ...
I will provide one more round of answers/ clarifications here. Since the original poster has made a reasonable request to exclude this conversation from this thread, the moderators will be removing anything past this point on the topic.

The best guidance you can stick to is the clarified wording on the Legendary Bundle:
Purchasing the Legendary Bundle also secures a 15% discount off standard pricing for all future official digital Dungeons & Dragons sourcebook and adventure purchases. You will automatically receive this discount for each new release.
New bundle types would collect (and offer forward-looking discounts for) their own product types (map packs, 3D assets, customization options, etc.). As an example, if we ever included the Endless Quest books on D&D Beyond (hypothetical), then I can clearly share that those would not be part of the Legendary Bundle and likely would not be discounted - they are something completely different than an official sourcebook or adventure.

For me and many others that's opvious, but before people get this wrong again ...
Thanks for the callout, and yes, you are correct in this statement and I hope that it is obvious with our clarifications. The clarified language on the LB is clear this means "official" content. If any type of third-party offerings ever emerge on D&D Beyond, they would not be a part of this (in before other questions pop up, this does NOT include the Ac Inc book coming out because, even though it's third-party, it still carries the "official" tag).
Thanks!
