Made some updates over the last couple of days. Updates clarified the contents of the Legendary Bundle, reflected new information bout clubs and store group options, and update info on compendium only access in the app.
I'm looking to buy the different race/subrace/subclass bundles from several of the source books, because I primarily want to let my players have the ability to build characters on dndbeyond.
If I purchase only add-on budles, and not the full books, does the purchase amount still count as credit for the legendary bundle later?
Yes, the price decreases precisely by the amount paid for the smaller pieces.
That's essentially what I did early last year, buy a bunch of character creation options and then later purchase the Legendary Bundle at the decreased cost.
I’m pretty confident that the answer is yes. If a moderator or staff doesn’t confirm, and you are willing to risk $2, you could purchase a single race/class etc and see if that changes the Legendary Bundle price for you. I know for certain that anything you spend on individual races/subraces/subclasses gets credited toward the cost of the bundle they are part of.
Looking at my order history and the marketplace, I'm pretty confident that I can confirm.
At the time I got started, there were 14 books. At $30 each, that it would have come out to about $420 for the whole thing. Discounted 15%, that's roughly a $360 Legendary Bundle. That's reverse-engineered, I dont actually remember what it was.
I had paid about $115 for the player creation options from 13 of those books, and $25 to preorder MToF, with a coupon code. At that point, over the course of two months, I'd spent about $140 on D&D Beyond.
Two weeks after I preordered MToF, I purchased the Legendary Bundle for $220. That matches with the above $360 price minus the $140 already spent.
So I just checked my order history (didn't know it was laid out so nicely), and I can confirm that Conn_Eremon is right: bundle purchases and individual purchases count toward both the books they are part of and toward the Legendary Bundle price.
Thanks! That answers my question precisely. I was mostly worried that the discount only applied for bundle purchases. I don't want all the compendiums, because I own a lot of the hardcover books already. I mostly need the DMG, PHB, and XGtE--everything else I mostly want to give my players character building options (not the lore).
I’ve had decent luck with the app. It’s most helpful when one doesn’t have WiFi, but I’ve found the listings in the app to be faster than the website when I’m at the location where I run my regular game.
So, I'm considering buying some of the books, but had a big question: Do I get downloadable versions of the books? The place I play at has terrible internet so It'd be nice to be able to download the books for myself. Can anyone here let me know?

Hi there ZaneOlric,
Yes, you can download the sourcebooks! There is a free D&D Beyond app available for both iOS and Android, which allows you to download the sourcebooks for offline viewing via the app.
You can't download the sourcebooks as a document/pdf for offline viewing on other platforms however.

... shoot. My computer is a surface pro and when I searched its microsoft app store didn’t look like they had it. Welp, that’s disappointing. Thank you for the heads up though.

Yeah, this has been highly requested.

I just want to tell everyone "happy gaming" and actually mean it. Whatever your game is, just have fun with it, it is after all, just a game.

Yes, this has been requested by some.
I fixed it for you. ^
Apologies for the light trolling (an attempted joke) and I genuinely mean no offense, but having a Windows application does not come anywhere close to the "highly requested" category for us. It is not currently a planned platform for us to support, but (just as I am here), we will keep an eye on demand and update that decision if it ever makes sense to prioritize.
I continue to lobby for it. Unless, that is, you can also provide flawless Internet access at every convention I go to. :-)

i have Unkind words for your reply but since you apologized ahead of time I guess that makes it ok. You didn’t “fix” anything. There was a whole thread of people asking for a Windows app for Windows 10, you know, the OS that most people use at a gaming table to play. Sure, I see iPads and android devices, but the mobile app honestly sucks compared to the web browser version and the mobile web browser version is just as bad. And not everyplace has decent WiFi, but that’s ok, you keep doing you and missing out on potential sales.
Welp, personally hopping for it. Thank you for the official response. Personally it’s the main thing holding me back from purchasing, but this service seems amazing so I hope to hear the change soon.

This further illustrates the point I was trying to communicate. A "whole thread" of people asking for it does not register as "highly-requested" for us. The fact is, our population of customers (and that's current, not even the much higher number of potential customers) versus the participants in one thread does not achieve statistical significance and therefore does not allow us to make decisions based on that alone.
This isn't even considering the variety of other factors that would impact a decision to create a Windows app - such as the resources required to maintain a whole other platform or the development resources it would take away from other features that do fall into the highly-requested category like the encounter builder, DM screen, etc.
I share this to explain it is not me "doing me," but a thought-out community/business decision where we are making the best decision we can make with the information we have available to us. I can empathize with you on how disappointing it is to hear the thing you want to see isn't a priority.
The original poster has requested several times to keep this thread focused on questions about what is available to purchase on DDB, so let's stop here and honor that request.
I certainly encourage you to continuing "lobbying" if a Windows app is important to you. As I said, we'll keep an eye on it and update our stance if the demand is verified and actionable.
Thanks!

Hi! Wanted to know if the d&d beyond app of the app store is legot or not. It makes sense for it to be there but there isn't any account linking etc.
You can link your account. The app is really glitchy, most people I know access the website rather than use the app.
