I feel like if it was June we would have heard something during the stream of many eyes. At this point, because they are not saying anything, I have to believe its because they are not ready to release. It seems they are afraid to say even a general date they aren't sure they can back up. If that is the case... I suspect we will not see it until August at the earliest because if it was in July they would just say "we are a little behind schedule, sorry, but it should be out sometimes next month" ...We are not even getting that. They have no idea when it will release because they are not ready. Something has caused a big problem for them or they are adding something more than we expected but they don't want to say anything and be wrong on the date again. Instead they are leaving us in suspense after showing us progress and passing both the previous deadlines.
I personally would prefer if they just came out and said, "This has turned into a much larger undertaking than we originally thought and many of the big item functional needs that players have given us in feed back to make D&D Beyond the program we all want and need also came with serious technical difficulties we have yet to sort out. As a result, we can not release this month or predict when we might release the character sheet revamp at this time however we can assure you that we are still working on it and will not settle for something that does not provide the most important player needs and desires that would allow them to completely move away from paper backups and stop gaps to a functional polished product."
I could except that. Its just the silence and waiting for something and getting nothing that kills me.
The lack of inflection in text means that a reader of any post adds their own inflection as they "verbalize" it in their head. It is common for people to skim my posts pull out the idea they think I mean or want to argue against or focus on my bad example instead of the point I am actually trying to make. I apologies for the confusion my failure to be clear and concise creates.

With all the due respect, but your statement has no foundation. The reason why no precise date has been announced is always the same: it is difficult to predict a date in development.
I can assure you that the target is still realising before the end of June. If a big delay comes up, the team will post an announcement.
Indeed, in May's Developer update, a Junebug appeared next to the character sheet revamp item on the "short term" list. When no one picked up on it in chat during the update, Badeye called it out in a tweet. Then yesterday, he referenced the next couple of weeks as the window when things would drop.
He he also pointed out that the revamp has not been in development for as long as it has seemed to us. The original images that were posted way back were posted during the conceptual phase, in order to solicit community feedback before they locked down an approach and began development work. While I do remember him being clear about that at the time, that comment had faded in my memory until he reminded us yesterday. I have appreciated how much clearer he has been in recent developer updates about what things are in active development and what is waiting in the wings for developer resources to become available to address. In May he also mentioned that they had expanded the team, which meant slowing down to a bit to get everyone up to speed/integrated into the team.
Don't know if anyone picked it up on the stream, or if one of the Mods/Devs can chime in, but is the mobile character sheet that was previewed at Origins in-App or browser based?

I believe that one was entirely browser-based, but I have no reason to think that the sheet in the app would be much different.

A few of our players use android phones/tablets and keep hitting the back button by accident, so the sooner it is in-App rather than browser, the better for them.

Wasn't the target the 1st quarter before and it moved back to the second quarter? Now the second quarter is almost done. My foundation is the lack of any update or mention of an actual release date. Its just like you said, "The reason why no precise date has been announced is always the same: it is difficult to predict a date in development." Which is basically the short version of what I posted... I get that your a moderator and might know something I don't but without that knowledge or any update announcement your statement stands as the most likely reason to why we have not hear anything. Your reasoning and mine are in perfect agreement, except your saying you think we have not heard anything because they are on track and I am saying I think we haven't heard anything because they can't say we are on track to release this month because they don't know if its possible. Its the difference of an optimist perspective and a pessimists perspective with the same information. I would love for it to drop this month... but if we are two weeks away from the end of the month and they can't give us a release date it, its because they don't know and are not ready now. If they are still working on major functions that would prevent releasing on a scheduled date within two weeks... then they are not likely to finish polishing or minor features which could be patched later even if they resolved the major bugs today. I am just saying if they aren't posting a release date... I would expect the "big delay" announcement soon when months of work are pushing down to a 2 week deadline for releasing by the end of the month.

Well, maybe a definition of what "short term" means?
Which is why, again, a definition of what 'short term' actually means in their development cycle. I'm new enough to 5e (and newer yet to D&D Beyond) to not know when the new character sheet was initially hinted it, and when it was officially labeled as a 'short term' project, but I do know that it has been "close" many, many months (and perhaps as long (or longer) than a half year). That, to me, is really pushing the bounds of something that could be considered "short term."
I have always taken "short term" to mean things being actively developed, and "long term" to mean things in the early planning stages.
It's important to note that no post-launch features so far have been given release dates, so the lack of one for the new sheet is in line with previous precident and not an indication of development progress.
Also, when the change from Q1 to Q2 occurred, the terminology used was "by the end of Q2". They also didn't wait until Q1 ended with no sheet to give an update about that. Now that we're nearing the end of Q2, there have been strong indications that it will come this month. If they were off target, the &Beyond livestream would have been the place to make that announcement. Since no such announcement was made, no news is good news.
You are free to have a pessimistic outlook if you choose, but it does not seem to align with the facts as presented so far.

1. No, the target was never 1st quarter, nor was ever announced as such. 2. No precise dates have ever been announced for any feature. I know your 'foundation' is based off this, so I apologize to unhinge it.
These guys aren't EA, trying to program 'major functions' into the software during late night coding binges. They want to polish their app and aim for the smoothest release possible. Wouldn't it be more logical to offer an announcement of "June," then polish as much as you can as it draws to an end? Does this not allow the development team to reevaluate current status with "2 weeks remaining" and organize which features to touch up or the best use of their time? Maybe they get to a point where any further optimization would take too long, so they release a week early (anyone remember the transition from Beta phase 2 to phase 3?)
It seems that you've fortified your own version of the timeline of events and are making judgments based off such. While it is certainly acceptable to be pessimistic, lets try to be realistic at the same time. The Devs at D&D Beyond do not have a history of delaying releases or backtracking on their announcements. They keep quite a level head and error on the safe side routinely. While yes, we may "know some things you don't," I can definitely state that these guys are of quality and accountability. I would expect the character revamp within the next 2 weeks.
I thought I remembered there being Q1 talk early in the process, but I guess I'm mistaken. Maybe it was a rough estimate or a guess by users based on clues.

That's my memory, too. But I'm well aware that things change and issues come up.
Did they explicitly confirm that it would be out in June?
Summary from what I'm seeing:
They have been saying the word June for about a month. Only time will tell. 14 day s left.

I long for the revamp also, but i prefer that they do it right instead of fast.
I'm not stupid. I'm just unlucky when I'm thinking.
