If they want them removed (archived as they call it) from DnDByond, then they should also remove it from their Unearthed Arcana website. I for one, make heavy use of many of the older UA articles. Just because it didn't make it into official print doesn't mean many of use don't still use it.
Instead, why not allow them to have DnDBeyond give it an Archived tag and allow individuals who are subscribed still have access to it. As long as its still available on the UA website, it should still be available for us to use elsewhere.

Removing content from the official toolset isn't the same as deleting an article off a website.
Maintaing UA content on DDB has tech overhead, as each option is multiplied by each user who applies it to a character. For content that isn't going to be developed, that's wasted tech space. Also, due to the lack of date information on DDB, it's impossible to know how old (and thus how relevant) UA content is, leading to ambiguity of relevance.
The UA articles on the WotC site are just PDFs and are dated so you can see when the article was written/published. Deleting it doesn't serve any beneficial purpose and there's little ambiguity as to its status.
Deleting access to UA material from DnDBeyond shouldn't have to happen.
If the material is 'Archived here' it should be made unaccessible on all official WotC websits and tools, including Roll20 and Fantasy Ground. There is no reason for it. It reminds me of 4E whenever they made changes and forced them on their own buidler.I completely disowned 4E after they ruined character of mine 6-7 times at the very least.
In many cases, the the Artificer, DnDBeyond had to put in a lot of man hours on this UA material. Now WotC is saying it is not worth DnDBoyonds time to put the work/effort into something that most likely never go official in the format they put all the work into.
I have loved DnDBeyond since I first heard about it through Nerdarcy. But the lack of the ability to homebrew classes, and the lack of many 'OFFICIAL' options from the DMG like Power Points, Hero Points, and Epic Boons & Charms are wyhat I have considered to be 2 strikes against DnDBeyond. It cannot be considered a true OFFICIAL tool set unless ALL official material from official books, like the DMG, is included.
What WotC is saying to DnDBeyond, and to us the DM's and Players, is that they don't want us to have access to material they have decided is not what they want us to have. SO take it away from the Character Builders.
Why? It is already here, the work has already been done. Why not leave it accessible. It is just another STUPID< ASININE decision of the part of WotC. It is not DnDBeyond's fault. They have to follow WotC's ORDERS or lose their license
It's decisions like this that are causing me to consider going back to Pathfinder (not Pathfinder 2. , that is Pathfinder gone the way of 4E and is best forgotten asap).

FYI - If you do recreate on old UA, you CANNOT share it on DDB homebrew; it must remain private. DDB will either a) not approve it, or b) delete it eventually.
Archivist and Arcane Weapon were in playtest for the upcoming Eberron book, which comes out on the 19th. They either didn't make the cut or will be in the book. Since the other subclasses are not mentioned, I would guess they didn't make the cut.
IF true, its proof that Tiamom is watching over D&D protecting the legacy of 3.5 Archivists from being ruined by name stealing Mentalist Arcanist stapled for no reason onto the Artificer.
Yes, you should be able to make a character now, with one of those subclasses, and in the future, just tweak name / race / whatever else and be fine. As long as you don't un-select the subclass.

The subclasses will still exist on the UA archive and you'll still be able to homebrew them into the game if you want to use them. What WotC is doing is making it clear they have no current intention of making them official in anything resembling their current states and as such they shouldn't be officially supported by DDB.
Because Wayfinder's Guide to Eberron is a living document/playtest material, which falls under the UA umbrella. Come next Tuesday, when Eberron: Rising from the Last War comes out, they'll be moved to the official category and removed from UA/playtest
So, I'm playing an archivist in a campaign right now. I noticed that some of the class features have broken after the archiving, specifically the Artificial Mind features. Will those continue to be broken and should I just expect to finish out the campaign using a pencil and paper?
Nothing of yours will be deleted, and any characters with that content will remain usable.
I'm not sure how to take this. I recently made an Artificer Alchemist and gave her Arcane Weapon (before the 15th) but I just checked her and she doesn't have Arcane Weapon anymore so it was removed and is no longer usable.

Yep same, i had to homebrew it to get it back.
Yeah Arcane Weapon has disappeared from all 3 of my characters.
mine still has Arcane weapon (homebrew copy) that's all you gotta do. Just go to Create Spell and do this http://prntscr.com/py77oq. your chars will retain there Arcane Weapon if you so desire.
You can’t save it precisely, but you could use the homebrew tools to recreate it.

I wonder if it will work to make a template now and copy it later when you need a character?

Good chance the archiving has been delayed while they focus on getting ready for Eberron: Rising from the Last War release on Tuesday

Yeah, things have been a little hectic! 😎
The Unearthed Arcana content stated at the start of this thread has now been archived.
As stated previously, any characters using that content are able to continue to do so, but it may not be added to characters.
