I'm really hoping that a lot of features of onenote eventually end up being similar in the campaign manager.
One of my favorite things about one note is you can take the player map from DDB and put it on a page, Then set the map to the background and add numbers over the top. The numbers hyperlink back to the locations, so when you click on the location it brings up the encounter.
how do you add the numbers, do you make a text box you just drag around on top of the map, or is it a trick to get like a "number token" with a hyperlink ?...
Another question: Reading the thread made it clear that a subscriptions doesn't unlock content. How is it the other way around ?
I think about buying the legendary bundle. But after spending half a ton, do I still need a subscription to get rid of the boundries, or is it a "one time buy, unlock everything, 15% off of future content" thingy? I'm not a fan of subscriptions so this would be an killer criteria.

The subscription removes limits on how many characters you can create and the master tier allows you to enable content sharing among up to 3 campaigns. The subscriptions don't affect what content you have to share that would be the bought content.
I currently have a Hero tier subscription. I've been considering upgrading to a Master tier, but can't find any information about how that upgrade would work. How would I go about doing that? Presently, all I can find to do is cancel my hero tier and then subscribe to the master tier, but I don't know how refunds or anything would work for that.
You contact support and tell them you want to switch. You are right that you have to cancel the one and purchase the other. It would be nice if they had an easier way to upgrade.
I know this post is old, but maybe someone from the site will see it. It would be nice to have a third subscription option of maybe 14.99-19.99/month where we got access to all the books so we wouldn't have to buy them. They would just come with this subscription.

This has been requested several times throughout the years, and it extremely unlikely to happen.
Curse and WotC are two separate companies, and Curse is selling D&D digital content under a license agreement with WotC. Due to this agreement, Curse cannot decide on their own to offer such a subscription model, and given the track record WotC had with D&D 4e, it is unlikely that would want to repeat the experience.
On another note, the current system, with piece-meal buy options for every resource available, is fairer and ultimately less costly that a subscription based model, which would also take away access from all your resources should you stop your subscription.

1, Get. Subscription
2. Copy all book content to a text editor to save as a PDF
3. Make homebrew copies of every item, monster, race, etc.
4. Cancel subcription having only paid for 1 month tops.
5. Laugh in glee at getting nearly $700 worth of content for only $16.
6. Watch as everyone else does this too.
7. Say goodbye to D&D Beyond and WotC as they go bankrupt.
I'm sorry, can you remind me again why you want this model?

1. you act as if D&D Beyond or WotC has any say in charging for digital copies of the book.
2. no they wont go bankrupt.
3. I guarantee you not everyone else is going to do this
4. if you have an issue with the way they're doing things why the hell are you even on their forums responding
1. D&D Beyond do. They can charge whatever they want for anything they sell as long as they pay the licenses to WotC.
2. If too many people did as I said then yes, they would. The subscription model does not generate enough money to cover everything after a single month of it. It would take years of subscription before they generate profit off that person - not viable for this type of content.
3. Yes everyone would. People literally stampede each other to injury over a discounted TV on Black Friday. People are very much wanting to get something for nothing. So yeah, getting $684 of content free ($700 less one month $16) is a definite.
WotC already tried a subscription model for 4th Edition. It did not last long because people were just getting one month, copying everything then cancelling. It lost them a lot of money which is why the stopped the service. This is why they stick to licensing to 3rd part tool sets like D&D Beyond. D&D Beyond cannot do a subscription like this for the same reason - they have to pay the licenses up-front but are not getting the money from the consumer up front so every sub means a net loss which will take literally years to get back and if that consumer cancels their sub before making that money up just means a loss. It is just not a viable way to do things.
4. You seem to be confused. You are the one who proposed a change to how D&D Beyond/WotC do things not me. I'm saying they cannot do what you want them to do. I have no problems with how they do things. I understand their business model - I've been in business, done business management courses, I'm well aware of how it works and that they're doing what works and know they will stick to it. You, not me, are the one who seems unhappy with how they do things - you are the one proposing a change, not me.

I'm not going to really address your points, as I think Cybermind has done a great job tactfully covering all of them. If you look back at the YEARS of discussion on this topic, you'll see the Devs, mods, and community members discussing this topic ad nauseam. It sounds like a great idea! I would love that service, and (probably?) not abuse it. Sadly, the D&D Beyond team feel that their business model is incompatible with it, and it's a decided matter. That service is never* going to happen
That said, welcome to being an active member of the forums! You seem to genuinely be interested in D&D and things that can help make your D&D experience better. I would strongly recommend reading the forum rules to get an idea of how things work around here. Conventional forum wisdom is that going after old timers/people who are helping the community isn't usually a good idea. That said, do you! I don't believe in sacred cows, so slaughter away.
Just some friendly tips if you want to hang out here and have meaningful discourse.
So If I get the hero tier subscription, make a bunch of characters, can't pay the subsciption next month so it lapses, I would be back to 6 characters.
Does that mean that I A. can't make more or B. can't access more than the chosen 6 characters and the rest are unaccessible?

You would have a chance to choose which 6 you would still have access to. The rest would be locked until you renew your subscription. You could delete one of those 6 if you needed space to make another.
can I run a campain whitour any subcribtion and needs everyone a subribtion or just one person?
You don't need any subscriptions at all to run a game.

We have the Master Tier plan. If we purchase a book on DND Beyond, do you get the icons for all of the players /monsters, commoners in the adventure book like we do on Roll 20? We plan to use with Maps.
If you have a Master Tier plan and can access Maps, you will have access to your purchases there in the form of tokens and maps, provided they have added that content to the Maps. They are having to work backwards to upload older books right now and the Maps is still in alpha stage.
