Rweni nods to the new party member. ”Fen, pleasure to meet you. Rweni, Soloth and Andarel.” She motions to each one accordingly. ”We were just sharing the unique skills we bring to the table. Would you be willing to share? I am a Guardian of Sune. Soloth, here, is a tracker. Andarel…well, she has a talent with her blades and some other tricks she has not quite revealed. Really, we are all just getting acquainted with each other until everyone shows up. There are some keys to your room, friend.”
Rweni briefly scans the room keeping her vigilance up. While she did not immediately get a sense of danger upon her first arrival, she chalked it up to the weapons and armor she carried on her. Now, without armor, but certainly more comfortable, she keeps herself a little more situationally aware. A thin stiletto sheathed upon her hip as her backup in case something goes down.
“Anyways, it appears the majority of us are here. Though, I am curious who are fashionably late member is. If it is mystery they are going for, they have piqued my curiosity.”
A tall, striking human woman has a conversation with a severed head, but it's in Abyssal, so few people understand it. The last line is in common, "You kiss your mother with that mouth!" as she slaps the air in front of her, a silvery copy of her hand slaps the devil's head mounted on the wall.
She orders wine cheese and crackers then approaches your table and sits down. She is pale skinned and completely bald. Her face is decorated with heavy makeup, bold, but artistic. She wears black robes, with white and purple accents breaking up the severity.
"How rude!" she says to no one in particular. Then to the group, "I am Trilaxa, Trilaxa the Odd to some. Alchemist, Sorcerer, and Investigator of the arcane. I take it we are all here about the rifts?"

Taken aback, ”We are.” Rweni curiously looks at Trilaxa, never meeting anyone like her before. Rweni’s palm is upturned and welcomingly gestures to the last remaining, empty chair and invites her to sit. “There is a key to your own room, Trilaxa. Nobody has approached us regarding these mysterious rifts, but I presume we are spending the evening here. I left my gear in my room earlier. Please, sit. My knowledge of the arcane is highly limited so I am pleased to know you are joining us. I was sent by order of my temple to investigate.”
Andarel stands up on her chair as the last two expected members of their group arrive at the table and introduce themselves. She raises her second glass and speaks up, " 'Bout time. Glad to meet you all." She points to each of the group in turn, echoing Rweni's introductions from but a moment before including Fen in the round this time. Catching the barmaid before she leaves, Andarel orders herself two more 'throat burners', though whether that is the name of the drink or just a description is anyone's guess.
"So, just Fen to enlighten us to his capabilities... Oh, and whichever merchant council folks called us to actually turn up to their own meeting."
"What I'm good at? Sneaking around, making my way through the crowded streets while being unnoticed,"he says rather inattentively, but not in a rude or demeaning way."Let's see..." and he starts playing with his dagger on the table, "picking locks, getting into difficult places. That's all, I think."
Fen picks bits of meat and vegetable while constantly looking around the inn.
"So, does anyone here know more about these rifts opening up lately?"he says while trying to avoid eye contact as much as possible. "I have no idea myself."
“I’ll be quite real with you, Fen. I was sent by my temple. I just know that whatever these rifts are and the creatures sneaking through them have concerned my order.” Rweni looks to Trilaxa, “You have an innate connection with the arcane, it seems. What is the best way I can serve you in order to figure this out…other than providing some muscle and protection, that is.”
Rweni returns to Fen, “I am curious where this benefactor is that summoned us all here. I hope this is not one of those weird tests where someone is watching how we interact afar. That happened to me before I was permitted to join the order and become a Protectorate.”
Rweni begins scanning the inn to see if anyone is tucked in a darkened corner observing the group.
"Maybe they watch from that devil head and Ms Odd slapping it sent 'em running. I guess so long as none of us kill each other that says we can get on well enough." The little goblin sits back down in the chair and stretches her arms up and above her head, interlocking her fingers and drawing them down to support her head as she leans back into the chair. She looks at each of her companions, taking note of their respective areas of expertise. This looked like a group she could fit in with, as well as any other. "Free meal and board either way."
Andarel turns to Trilaxa, "Why do you get called odd?"
Once everyone's food and drinks arrived, and before Trilaxa could respond, the loud inn suddenly went quiet, as a powerful magic spell was cast to not only get everyone's attention but to ensure everyone could hear the speaker. Upon looking around your eyes are drawn to the second-floor banister, just above the bar where a man is standing waiting for everyone to turn their attention to him. Fen you know this man as the Chancellor of the City.
"Hello everyone," he begins, "Sorry for interrupting all of your conversations, but since everyone has arrived, I believed it would be best to talk to you all about the situation now rather than wait. As you all have likely heard, there are rifts opening and closing all over the world. You all have been gathered, to not only investigate these rifts and their cause, and but to stop them. While some of you may leave on the merchant ships to travel to other continents, and others may leave on horseback, please know that you carry the fate of the world on your shoulders. Those who will be staying on this continent will be given either a carriage or horses, the choice is up to you and your group. I urge you all to leave at your ear..." he continues, as Rweni's feelings came to fruition when a rift opens up in the middle of the room. As monsters rush out of the portal, adventurers scramble to grab weapons or something they can use as a weapon. You all come face to face with four monsters, Trilaxa, knowing abyssal, knows these creatures to be Abyssal Chickens. They are about 15 feet from the party.

Rweni looks at the creatures entering the rift. “Of course I had to just leave my equipment in my room to be a little more comfortable, now, didn’t I?” she says sarcastically. She pulls her dagger and looks for an opening to determine if she can at least get her shield and flail from her room or if she should attack as is.
(OOC- I’m good if DM wishes to roll init to save time)
Rweni realizes that she does not have the luxury of time and her training unleashes her muscle memory. She leaps up from her chair and charges at the nearest chicken. Her stiletto glints in the light as she thrusts it at the largest part.
Slightly stumbling over your own feet in the leap, your stiletto misses the your target (Chicken #2).
