to save on time because of the absurd amount of enemies I shortened it down to 4, and it was still labeled as deadly.
As a blast of magic and thunder erupts from Trilaxa, the Chickens try to move out of the way but instead take the full force of the spell. Leaving only one of the standing, and open for a shot from Soloth, whose arrow finds its mark as the chicken is being blown back by the force of Trilaxa's spell. As the Arrow pierces the head of the chicken you all take a quick glance around and realize that the chickens weren't the only thing that came through. After a long battle, you all look around and see at the bar lay the corpses of ten pit fiends and dozen other denizens of the nine hells. A magic circle, now encompassing the rift, acting as a return home for the creatures coming through. Everyone started looking towards who was injured, and who could heal, trying to make sure everyone was okay. After several minutes of making sure no one was dead or dying, the barkeep begins to speak.
"Well know that was unexpected, you alright up their chancellor?" She asks, looking up to above the bar. But no reply came, glancing at the mage she quickly makes her way upstairs. "I need a little help up here." She yells down, causing a person who was sitting at the bar relaxing to rush up.
After a couple of minutes, and Andarel's reply, she comes to the edge of the banister. "Well, thankfully he is not dead, but it looks like ill have to handle everything from here. So if anyone has any questions please ask me or head to the council hall. In one of your groups' rooms, you have the option to choose from a wagon or a ship. You can only choose one, so be sure to think about it. To those of you that choose a wagon, you will be able to pick up some extra horses if you want. The wagon is a covered wagon, that has some basic protection spells cast on it, and can be turned into a regular wagon."
(OoC - assuming that Solath's 22 hits and 12 damage spits the chicken)
Andarel relaxes back into the chair, "Simple pickings. Loud, but got the job done Odd!" She tilts her head in appreciation and shouts back up to the instigator, "Rifts in a tavern... Nowhere is safe! Get your yappering to the point."
“One question before I get my equipment. Do these rifts open up in any random place and time or is there something here in the tavern that caused this rift?”
Rweni pauses thoughtfully, before commenting, “That’s two questions wrapped into one, really. And, wagon or ship? I’m more familiar with wagons and land tactics, personally. What say all of you?”
Andarel raises her hand to her chin, pinching her lips as she thinks about Rweni's points, "Ask at docks. Sailors is superstitious and talk more than fishwives after a drink. If rifts are appearing at sea that's where we'd hear it. Depends where we go which transport better, both work for me." She grabs another piece of bread off the table, stuffs some cheese into it and chows down.
”You bring a valid point, Andarel. Facts can be so misleading, where rumors, true or false, are often revealing. It appears a good majority of us are interested in the wagon option; however, maybe we should take a quick jog down to the docks and see if there have been any stories to change our mind? Trilaxa, do you have an opinion on the matter? I am curious to what you think, being an arcane investigator.” Rweni reaches down to place her stiletto in the sheath secured around her calf. She walks over to Trilaxa to better hear her over the many murmurings of the other people in the tavern as they try to make sense of what happened also.

Andarel looks around the tavern (Perception:7), trying to get a feel for how many of the other patrons are also adventurers that might be setting off on a similar quest. "Sounded like we ain't only ones on the job, don't wanna be wastin' time followin' another snotrag's leftovers. Early birds eat worms."
"While I have ferreted out a mystery or two, nothing this big or powerful, I'm afraid I might have given off more of an air of expertise than I can back up."

”No, no, Trixala. I was not sure how deep your knowledge runs. Well, then, I shall get my belongings and let us make way for the docks and see what information turns out. Barring any significant leads, I’m still more comfortable with the wagon option.”
Rweni goes to her room and gathers her equipment and makes her way back to the group downstairs. She begins heading towards the door with an air of firm direction. She ties her hair up in a ponytail and slings her shield along her back, two u-shaped hooks engaged with a defined lip that secures the shield. She secures a wicked looking flail along her belt. ”Right. Come on then, comrades. Let us see what information we can find near the docks.”
"Good groups not have many heads. Pieces fit to best places." Andarel nods is agreement with Soloth. Lots of different personalities randomly thrown together was a recipe for failure, like a bad stew. Still, no-one had done anything to cause Andarel any specific concerns... yet. "Anyone know way to docks? Ask at bar if not."
"Louts who don't speak right, drunkards, sailors, beggars an' scoundrels. Few decent folk, best we avoid them." Andarel's tone is dismissive and uninvested, as though she is reeling off a mental list of stereotypes that one would expect to find in such a district.
She ushers Fen into the lead and walks alongside him as they make their way out of the tavern and into the city, the first steps on their adventure into the unknown.
As Fen leads the group to the docks you all get a glimpse of why this city is called the merchant city. A massive amount of ships line the city's crescent shaped harbor. Two massive light houses/ guard towers adorn the ends of the crescent guarding the harbor from any attacks. Many warehouses also spread throughout the area.

"I'm not very experienced with ships, truth to be told," says Fen. "I'd rather much take the wagon."
