Lirin raises a curious eye at the city as she passes through, seeing the road begin to glow, then taking in the overly ostentatious display around every street and corner it seemed. She didn't particularly mind festivals as such, but she had also felt that sometimes they were used to mask real problems laying underneath the pomp and circumstance. Distract the poor and needy with flashy shows now and then and hope to quell their resentment just a bit longer. Perhaps it was a cynical outlook but she would much rather be surprised by honest generosity than constantly disappointed by insincere flattery.
Psalm, in the guise of a merchant, pays the fee and takes in the view as he passes through the gates. He keeps his eyes peeled for anyone on the street who looks like they might be a courtesan, or a level of nobility who might have access to the city's leadership... However, it's a bit hard to concentrate amidst all the glamour that surrounds him.

"Well met, Sekolath," says Screechirk, "For me I've come for festivities. How about yourself?" He takes a glance between Sekolath and Leif. How fortunate for a seeker of an ancient artifact and a private investigator to meet he thinks.
Shadow notes the gnome and aarakocra adventurers conversing and puts away his clipboard. "Well met, Adventurers! I am Sekolath Smyth, a fellow traveler of the glory road and a private investigator of sorts now that I am retired from the military. Most people call me Shadow. What brings you to this fine city?" He smiles.

“There was a lady who seemed upset, she spoke with the caravan master just before we got to the gates. She looked important not sure if that makes her an adventurer.”
This observation seems odd as Leif is 2’6” on his toes and probably couldn’t have observed the interaction had it not been for Glass.

Screechirck blinks his eyes for a moment, puzzled by how the gnome could've witnessed the event. But he shrugs it off for now. A question for another time. "How interesting." he says, "I wonder what trouble could've been coming at such a festive time. Would you happen to know where she is now?"
“Oh no sorry, I guess I was lucky to have spotted her at all. Umm maybe if you perched up a bit you might see her. She was near the front.” Leif pauses to see if Screechirk might wing up to a nearby roof…. “There was a devilishly stylish tiefling I believe, silvery horns even. Is there a reason we’re seeking adventurers? I could use help I guess once I get a lead on well anything rumor map… whatever I can find.”

"Indeed. Adventurers tend to be the best sources of assistance when we enter a new place." Shadow nods in agreement. "less concerned with their day job and more connected to the world around them as a general rule. Just the sort of help we might be looking for!"

Celeste is looking around, trying to get her bearings. Despite having lived in Zinda, the town was still overwhelming.
Seeing the other folks hanging around, she wandered over and asked for their assistance. “Pardon me; but do you know where the central performance stage would be?”

Screechirk greets the newcomer. "Unfortunately I don't think any of us do." he says, "We're new in town. But it is an area I'm interested in myself, so I'd be willing to take a quick look upwards to see if I can find it. Would you happen to know any distinguishing features of it? Or should I just look for the the crowd?"
Shadow catched a glimpse up the shadow alley way as he looks around. He notices a figure in the darkness slumped against the wall, headed tilted to stare back at Shadow. On the ground around the figure is a collection of spilled gold coints.

"Excuse me for a moment, please." Shadow wanders over to the darkness and melts into it, disappearing to darkvision. He examines the figure slumped against the wall more closely and also specifically looks for anything identifying the individual. His senses sharpen... the hunt may be afoot!
When Shadow walks over to the figure, he finds himself in the middle of a grim scene. Before him is a dead dwarf wearing lavish robes. Clearly someone of importance. Checking the gold pieces on the ground, Shadow totals up a total of twenty gold pieces lying on the ground. Clearly no one else has made their way down the alley just yet, otherwise the gold pieces would have already been taken. The death must have been fairly recent.
Looking further down the alley, Shadow can see that it is a dead end. However, there are some doors that lead into the buildings on either side.
For the moment, there is no sign of anyone else in the alleyway. Just Shadow and the unidentified dead dwarf. Yet, the cause of death is currently undetermined, a medical check on the body may reveal more information.

Shadow leans down to examine the dead dwarf. He sees that blood has pooled in the dwarf's mouth. Additionally, the dwarf's eyes appear bloodshot. Futher examination reveals that the dwarf's nostrils also seem to be burnt. All of these signs point to the fact this dwarf was poisoned by burnt othur fumes, a deadly toxin.

Celeste pays the fee, disappointed she didn’t even get the chance to try to persuade the guy.
Then she heads to the meeting place for her performance.
[ooc: how long do I have before I’m supposed to perform? Do I have a contact? Can I have an apartment in Zinda?]
