Boom recoils in pain from the grasping hands and mouths. He looks up into the air and will Far Step the max distance he is able based on the ceiling(Up to 60 feet) into the air using his Dragon wings to keep him afloat.
Boom then flies to where he is floating above LJ,14.
"My fellows, I think I have a plan. Just keep him busy for a little longer!"Abe called out as he gripped his holy symbol close to chest. Once more, and with feeling of his strength fast waning, the cleric enclosed in golden armor raised the symbol on high, releasing another pair of pulses to rejuvenate his allies. "Nox! Selherac! Disrupt the box magic! If you can, I can seal it!"
Action: Channel Divinity - Preserve Life on Boomshakla and Selherac, restoring 70 HP to Boom and 30 to Selherac(or 52 and 48 to both respectively, if Boom is not knocked unconscious by a LA)
Bonus Action: Cast (5th level)Mass Healing Word on Abe, Selherac, Boomshakla, Yessaris, and Tupoc, restoring 24 to each, and an additional 7 to Abe.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
When you realize you're doing too much: Signature.
While Yessaris recovers from his momentary paralysis, Attorney assumes a defensive stance. A much more active Nox slings force blasts at the monster in front of her just as her tiny ball-pets tackle it (Goristro takes 24 force damage). Six of the ball bearings manage to hit this time around (Goristro takes 20 bludgeoning damage). The large fiend wobbles in pain.
Unlike the artificer, the wizard momentarily poofs away one more time.
LEGENDARY ACTION
The Goristro tries to kick a nearby foe again.
-> Hoof vs. Tupoc: Attack: 25 Damage: 22 bludgeoning.
-> The attack misses due to Tupoc's reaction: Shield (reference).
-> Tupoc's STR saving throws {DC 21}: 13
-> Fall damage: 6 bludgeoning.
Though painful, the Goristro manages to perform a flawless kick and knock the low-flying monk out of the sky (Tupoc takes 28 bludgeoning damage, including fall damage). The monk is pushed 10 feet away from Lysanderoth as a result.
Edit: Bless roll on Tupoc's STR save: 4 - nothing changes.
Selrahc remains on the floor a while longer in order to catch his breath. Nearby, Abe brings a couple of his companions health up. First, he treats the sorcerer (Boomshakala heals for 76 HP), and then the barbarian (Selrahc heals for 72 HP). The cleric then expands his healing powers to other colleagues, letting the light reach the artificer (Yessaris heals for 24 HP), the monk (Tupoc heals for 24 HP), and himself (Abe heals for 31 HP).
(OOC: The healing amounts above for Boomshkala and Selrahc include both the Preserve Life and the Mass Healing Word amounts).
LEGENDARY ACTION
The Goristro tries to kick the construct standing nearby.
-> Hoof vs. Attorney: Attack: 16Damage: 37 bludgeoning.
The sorcerer wastes no time in teleporting 30 feet straight up and finding his way out of the undead sea. Boomshakala does so by concentration on a repeatable Far Step. He then moves to a more central position, aims his fingers at Lysanderoth, and shoots a few Eldritch Blasts. Two of them find their mark (Goristro takes 9 force damage).
LEGENDARY ACTION
The Goristro tries to kick Attorney again.
-> Hoof vs. Attorney: Attack: 19 Damage: 27 bludgeoning.
-> Attorney's STR saving throws {DC 21}: 10
This time, the construct is not fast enough. He too flies 10 feet backwards, landing prone (Attorney takes 27 bludgeoning damage).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
LAIR ACTION
(@All: So, I messed up a bit and overlooked the fact that the Goristro is supposed to be immune to the poisoned condition. I feel like it is a bit too late to re-roll all of his attacks that were affected by the condition over the last round, so I'll leave them as they are. That said, as of the beginning of this current round, he is no longer poisoned).
The peripheral sea of undead begin to form another wave. This time, they are aimed for one of the closest trialist to the edge of the central platform, the flying monk Tupoc. They splash on the platform and do their best to pull the monk in, despite him being 10 feet off the ground.
Edit: Adding a Bless roll to that STR save: 1 - nothing changes
The Couatl-hybrid coils his body and avoids being dragged, but the many broken nails and teeth still manage to harm him somewhat (Tupoc takes 37 magical piercing damage).
Edit: Tupoc's concentration check {DC 18}: 17
-> The concentration save succeeds as Yessaris intervenes with Flash of Genius (reference).
(Tupoc is up next. Please keep in mind that he is prone).
Reaction(Yessaris): Uses Flash of Genius, adding another +4 to Tupoc's Bless Conc. Save Vs Lair Action, making it 20instead.
As Yessaris sees the magic begin to fade, he quickly shouts up to Tupoc, "Tupoc! Focus! Your inner strength is far greater than this!"Knowing full such reinforcements above all would be just the right words to help center the monk.
@ori: you can take that back, sorry for the late post
Reaction: As the hoof comes flying towards Tupoc's face, the hybrid instictively whips his hand forward, catching the blow with a wall of arcane force. Tupoc's AC becomes 28 until the end of the round (@Lerus; this would mean that the attack misses, the save is negated, and the lair action may need to be rethought. I apologize for the lateness of this reaction, but exams are taking priority at the moment).
Tupoc grits his teeth and resumes his assault on the creature that is Lysanderoth. "And to think that I wasted time worrying about your fate, Lot. I'll enjoy ending you!" The punches come in, crashing against the pulsing box. Trying to disrupt the magic, Tupoc spends the last of his Ki in an attempt to stun the Goristro.
Attack: 1+22 Damage: 15
Attack: 3+31 Damage: 18
Attack: 2+25 Damage: 9
The first attack that connects is a Stunning Strike, target makes a DC 19 Con saving throw
Lysanderoth gets a kick of being reminded of his ruse. His satisfaction does not last long as Tupoc lands a combination of three kicks to his body and head. The first attack forces the Gorsitro to wobble (Goristro takes 15 magical bludgeoning damage):
-> Goristro's CON saving throw vs. Stunning Strike {DC 19}: 32
Though the monster recovers, the monk does not slow down, following through with the other strikes (Goristro takes another 27 magical bludgeoning damage and is DEFEATED).
LYSANDEROTH
As Tupoc kicks the Goristro's form out of Lysanderoth, the "heart" contraption begins to spin rapidly. The Master of the Trials is still shifting back to his humanoid form when he speaks: "It matters not how many times you knock me down... In the end, victory in this war of attrition will be mine."
Unlike before, the battlefield does not shift along with Lysanderoth as he begins to transform into his next form. The throne room and its sea of undead remain as hungry as ever. For now, Lysanderoth is an amorphous blob. The transformation seems to be taking a little longer each time.
(OOC: Everyone gets a free turn once more, which will be resolved in the current initiative order. When you post you free turn, please also re-roll your initiative.)
"Perhaps... But from our angle, it looks as if that regeneration trick of yours is slowing down... you sure you don't wish to return to the order of things?"Yessaris asked, almost taunting the man. His expression is as indifferent as ever as he starts to go for the ring on his finger. Just before giving it a twist however, seeing some of the mist begin pouring from ports in his armor, the man scowls and change tactics in pressing something behind his shield.
The excess raw magic acting as an extended barrier flickers into a golden hue. One whose light spreads 30ft around him, coating all nearby in barrier. It isn't much. But it should help.... Selherac! When next you have a chance, rip. His. Heart out. Attorney. Cover Abe. Nox and Boom. Unless you two have better ideas, I'd suggest the same in striking, ripping, or destablizing it further." With that said, he draws out his rapier once more and made ready for the next stage of the fight.
Though for a moment, his eyes widen in an epiphany as he glances back to where he hid his own cube. "... maybe..."
Abe shoots a quick glance to the others, then takes one last deep breathe. "Okay. Next when he reforms, I am gonna try to see if I can suppress his magic. Be prepared to step back when I do!"He warns one last time as he clutched at his holy symbol. Rather than the usual golden light spilling forth as the holy man spoke his prayers, a mote of radiance seeps from amulet and right into the chest of the Holy man. There it would continue to burn a dim glow until death may claim him.
(S/N: If the spell doesn't appear to have an affect, and Abe would be danger of getting damaged, he'll drop conc. on the field immediately so that warding bond can take effect again)
Re-Rolled Initiative:18.
(@Lerus: Forgot about Yessaris Blink being active. So, swapped up a few spell choices)
Tupoc flies to 20 feet up and out of the way as Abe approaches the shifting 'god'. Pulling a sharp loop, he swigs a potion (8) before preparing to descend again, looking refreshed (Touch of Death, Perfect Self)
(@All: Please recall that we are still resolving these in the current initiative order).
Yessaris: After shouting a few commands, you enact your Aura of Purity. Attorney simply dodges. Yessaris does not disappear.
Nox: You step closer to the southern edge of the central platform and refreshes Blink on yourself (reference).
Selrahc: You stand back up and drink a potion (healing for 8 HP). You go before Abe, so you wouldn't know to purposefully stay away from him at this point in time. You are free to do so in your next turn.
Abe: You warn your colleagues of your plan and prepare for the worst with a casting of Death Ward. The farthest you can go is {LL-10}. Lysanderoth amorphous blob is taking up your initially intended space {LK-9}.
Boomshakala: Since the ceiling is only 30 feet high, flying down that distance means that you land. You then cast Haste on Selrahc.
Lair Action (the environment is not changing this time around, so the Lair gets a go too): Another wave comes crashing on the edge of the central platform, bursting plenty of the undead, who reach out for Tupoc.
Lair Action (continued): Tupoc evades most of the impact but there are simply too many bodies coming at him before they retract into the "sea" (Tupoc takes 30 magical piercing damage).
Tupoc: After being hit by the undead sea, you fly up heeding Abe's warning. While up there, you refresh yourself in more ways than one (healing for 8 HP). Notice that the damage above happens after Touch of Death takes effect, so it eats away your temporary HP.
(Nox is still up. Her pending turn will be resolved in the appropriate order as indicated above).
The amorphous blob continues to take shape. With your preparations now complete, you can't help but just stand there for the next few seconds and stare at Lysanderoth's transformation being completed. This time, he emerges as a tall and slender dark figure. Twisted horns sprout from it bovine-skull-like head and shadows emanate from it like vapor. Its slender torso is veiny and tight, except for the large purple opening allowing plain view of the artifact that functions as Lysanderoth's heart.
Before it does anything, a second and identical head sprouts from its shoulder. Two arms with long claws follow and a twin creature begins to push itself outward. It too has a large wound on its chest but, upon separation, each of their purple gaps gets smaller such that they now prevent direct line of sight to the would-be hearts. You cannot tell which one carries the artifact in their chest simply by looking at them. Lysanderoth has now completed his transformation into two Nightwalkers. They speak in unison: "I still have plenty of trick up my sleeve! Come now and die! Our spectators wish nothing less."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
NIGHTWALKER
The dark figure to the north points a finger at Tupoc and says "Doom":
-> Tupoc's WIS saving throw {DC 21}: 20Damage: 30 necrotic. This save is boosted by Yessaris' Flash of Genius and becomes a success (reference).
The monk who had flown high just a moment ago manages to mentally force the Nightwalker's efforts away after Yessaris helps him re-concentrate.
-> Fall damage: 13 bludgeoning.
falls to the ground after feeling all of his muscles become paralyzed and incapacitated (Tupoc takes 39 necrotic and bludgeoning damage, already including half fall damage due to Natural Armor). While on the floor, Tupoc can't help but feel temporarily frightened as well.
The tall Nightwalker still has enough reach to try to stab the flying monk with his many long claws:
Boom recoils in pain from the grasping hands and mouths. He looks up into the air and will Far Step the max distance he is able based on the ceiling(Up to 60 feet) into the air using his Dragon wings to keep him afloat.
