"Is that the case? Then why go to this particular village? It's not exactly easy to access and Phlan is a day's travel from here. Some folks there are interested in these attacks and would've listened. A lot easier than feigning insanity and being pelted by rocks." Neya asks, wondering about the mans actions.
"Still doesn't quite explain the dracolich bit. Or why you're so protective of the stones beneath ya. Unless...." Doozey squints at the man. "'less ya made off with a scale or some such, 'nd had some plan to sell it? Or even something else of value from off this "audacity". Graxx pulls back out his magic die places it in Elis's hand and closes her fingers around it gently with hers as he listens to the conversation.
"Keep it with you for now little one. It'll keep you safe." says Graxx.
Graxx reaches in his pack and pulls out a ration.
"I need your help right now. Will you take this ration and go and eat it in the barn with the horses. You don't need to pet em or anything just keep an eye on them for me and make sure they are safe. I want you to close the door behind you and not come out till I come get you. The storm makes 'em get a little scared and they need a brave girl like you to be there so they know they are safe. Can you do that for me?" asks Graxx.
"Hold on... Audacity? At the barn, there were beams that looked like it came from some ships. One of them had the name Audacity in faded gold. I didn't think much about it at the time as there didn't seem to be much relevance. But now, I'm not so sure..."
"We're going to need to ask someone on this island about this ship."
Elisande nods with each and every word Graxx says this time around. She gets the Charlatan's Die and a generous serving of dried fruit, assorted nuts, and hardtack. She turns to leave as requested but looks over her shoulder: "I'll eat with the horsies, but'll keep an eye out for ye. Ye still need a guide!" She does not wait for a response, and disappears beyond the opening of the hovel.
Neya mentions the connection to the "Audacity," but her companions seem to be busy dealing with Verik (OOC: Everyone but Neya, who already attempted it, may roll a history check).
With Utar and Doozey both closing in on the man, Verik relents. He doesn't say anything else for now but shifts his weight away from the loose stone. He lifts it just enough to slip his other hand in there. When he pull it out, the stone falls back in place. In his hands, an ugly and furless rat can be seen. Then, he speaks: "This is Pinky. He keeps me company. Please don't kill him, alright?"
At least for now, he doesn't comply with the request to elaborate on his story.
Utar looks down his nose at Verik. "I have to say, I've grown pretty tired with your games Verik..."
As he speaks, his hand touches his amulet, which begins to pulse with light, slowly at first.
"I don't like that you've tried to deceive us at every turn Verik..."
As Utar continues, the pulsing light continues to build, speeding up, getting stronger.
"I don't like that you think you can keep lying to us, even when we see through you as if you were made of glass Verik..."
Utar takes his hand away from his amulet, a pulse of light travelling outwards, washing over the members of CRAP and Verik as he casts zone of truth.
"I'm about done with your lies Verik. You're going to start answering our questions, whether you want to or not Verik. You can start by telling us what is in that hole, it sure wasn't Pinky here, given he was up your sleeve. Maybe after that you can start to tell us about the ship Verik. Maybe tell us about the others living on this island?"
"Oh you've done it now, boyo." Doozey crosses arms and narrows his eyes after Utar's initial speech. He avoids intruding further with words, but would click his tongues a few times in some peculiar pattern. Hearing this however, Biscuit perks up, and regards the halfling's right hand closely in anticipation. The moment Verik looks about ready to bolt or try something funny, the arm goes up, and Verik gets pointed at, immediately causing the oversized Tundra Mount barreling into him in an old game of "fetch".
But even Doozey isn't completely deaf to everything else around him. At the mention of Audacity, he furrows his brows at least one point in deep thought over the name, coming up with...
Nothing much, if even THAT much. And frankly, the tingle of magic washing over and causing him to shudder a moment thoroughly derails any future thought on the matter.

Neya is intrigued about the direction this is going, "First feigning insanity, and now tricks of the eye? That does not bode well for your credibility on the whole."
She feels the wave of magic from Utar's spell suffuse the air around over her.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Doozey knows nothing about a ship named "Audacity."
Utar confronts Verik, who realizes his options are fewer and fewer with each passing second. Graxx and Neya observe, agreeing with their cleric friend. A bright light bursts from the half-orc's amulet. There is little room to avoid the spell cast within the tight room.
Utar feels magically compelled to be truthful for the second time in a couple of days. He knows that Neya and Doozey must be feeling the same. Curiously, Pinky has also fallen to the spell, but the other animal in the room, Biscuit, has not. Graxx maintains his ability to lie if he deems it necessary.
Verik simply smirks. Biscuit prepares to rush the man on command. To the sound of Graxx's manacles clanking, the man says: "You'll have to do better than that." He begins to reach for the inside of his other sleeve and Biscuit starts running towards him...

Pinky sprints along Verik's arm and lunges at Doozey's face. The halfling is momentarily distracted. Pulling a short blade from within his bandage-sleeve, Verik takes his opportunity:
-> Short Blade vs. Doozey: Attack: 25 Damage: 22 piercing (includes Sneak Attack damage).
The blade sinks deep and upward, poking out of Doozey's back, and through his half plate (Doozey takes 22 piercing damage). Verik then quickly whips his blade back and forth at those nearby. He is quite adept with the blade.
-> Short Blade vs. Doozey: Attack: 15Damage: 6 piercing.
-> Short Blade vs. Utar: Attack: 15 Damage: 10 piercing.
The halfling bends over in pain, avoiding the second attack by chance. Utar is caught by surprise, and his shield arm is cut open (Utar take 8 slashing damage).
"Farewell," Verik says still holding a smirk. He disengages and runs past everyone in the hovel. He is now outside, at {AO7}.
(Everyone can post their first round's turn. Biscuit can move 30 feet out of his turn and then take his full turn.)
Neya gives chase to Verik, taking out her quarterstaff and overtakes him, giving Doozey a potion of healing along the way.
After getting in front of him {AN8 or AN7 if rocks are difficult terrain} she swipes her quarterstaff with a two-handed strike upwards to catch him in the jaw and proceeds to throw two punches, one to Pinky (knowing how dangerously effectively Verik used him; if Pinky is not on him or otherwise not visible to her, the both go to Verik) and the other to Verik (1 Ki point to use Flurry of Blows).
Doozey can only make a halfhearted attempt to grasp at the fleeing Verik, only to double over further and catch nothing but air. Determined nevertheless, he staggers after downing Neya's offered potion, but only makes it so far prior. "You won't escape... me so easily." He says, marking Verik in mind and spirit in a way only a true hunter can. "Biscuit! Circle and Down." Biscuit barks his approval and rushes around, throwing his full body weight into a lunge to bring Verik down while biting into a shoulder.

Being the last one by whom Verik passed, Graxx is the first one to catch up to the would-be crazed man. He swings with all his might, but feels the resistance of armor underneath Verik's many ragged clothes. The blade draws no blood.
Neya lobs a potion toward Doozey and runs out of the hovel next. Pinky does not seem to be on Verik’s person and as such, the monk simply aims her blows at the man himself. The quarterstaff hits his face with a crack, the follow up kicks snap at his left leg (Verik takes 24 bludgeoning damage).
Biscuit arrives next, after Doozey has already marked his foe. Coincidentally, the mastiff tries to attack the runner at the same time his master is drinking a potion and walking out of the hut (Doozey heals for 7 HP). The halfling arrives in time to see Verik slap Biscuit's snout out of the way.
Utar takes the space recently vacated by Biscuit and tries to stop the madness:

"I was running for my life and afraid they were chasing me. An extra day's worth of travel felt like an unnecessary risk." He quickly replies.
Though Neya still has her doubts, his snappy reply seems somewhat genuine.

Utar stands, trying to gain as much height on the man as he can.
"Maybe if you're useful, we can take you all the way back to Phlan after this storm passes."
Graxx pulls back out his magic die places it in Elis's hand and closes her fingers around it gently with hers as he listens to the conversation.
