What are your thoughts on spells cast on a polymorphed creature /player. If the spell sticks then a Blindness spell will, if the creatures form alters, keep the new form blind. But it also means a cleric could cast Aid on a polymorphed target and that character could benefit from the Aid increasing his hitpoints. (potentially over many forms).
If spells don't 'stick' then swapping form removes cast buffs and debuffs that were applied to that form (or at least suppresses them if it was the original form so affected) This is probably not how you are supposed to avoid the dangers of certain spells, including those lowering strength or maximum hitpoints.
The reverse isn't immediately as problematic, but a Tyrannosaur with Tenser's Transformation and/or Fire Shield is an issue. (Monster of my Nightmares)
Now for the last horrible non stick dilemma. Levitate, raise it up, Polymorph, Levitate was not cast on the toad but the (victim) the victim does not descend gently as the rider effect of levitate doesn't stick and polymorph/levitate is once again back to being weaponized. In reverse Polymorph then Levitate works if concentration ceases on the poly target (and this way you can lift them higher before being out of casting range of Polymorph.)I am aware that this requires two casters, I am also aware that a levitated frog is a likely result that will allow one creature to be taken out of a fight and dealt 20d6 falling damage after the minute of elevation time is done which can be very cost effective for a 4th and 2nd level spell even before the party start dumping oil alchemist fire, man traps or similar under where they will fall.
So what are your thoughts, is Polymorph Teflon for spell effects or?
Does a vampire count as a shapechanger? The polymorph spell doesnt affect shapechangers, so that would preclude the vampire from using the spell on itself.
I would like to ask as I didn't notice anyone ask about this, but what if you polymorph a animal into a person, can you specify which person this is? And can you specify yourself at an earlier level if needed as to allow the CR to not go up in level? (This is out of curiosity for a ranger companion, and trickery based shenanigans)

It would require True Polymorph to turn an animal into a humanoid. I'd personally rule out making it into a specific individual, relying on illusion or disguise skills instead.

one thing i was wondering if i true poly into a ancient bronze dragon and use its shape change ability does my bronze dragon form become my true form plz help have goal to become godlike and need to use transformation as stepping stone
My home brew rule for the "stick the BBEG that has been polymorphed into a ray into a tiny cage and end concentration" is
If a creature is to big to fit in a space, such as polymorphing it into a rat and stuffing it into a tube, then you do and amount of bludgeoning damage equal to the objects hit points or until the creature is at 0 hit points, whichever comes first The creature also does an amount of bludgeoning damage equal to the damage it took to the object.
One can "True Polymorph" someone into a "Normal" Item. /One can creaft magic items in game if you have the suplys and time. Hears a question: Can you (with game mechanics) tern the "Normal" item (True Polymorphed person) into a magic item? can this be done?
Ps. using 5e rulling if posable.
(Tern player into item --> Tern item into magic item = Player turned Sentiant magic item ? )
Mechanically I see no issue but I may be rong. *Your thots ? . . . .
If I cast polymorph on myself and turn myself into a beast that has a multiattack, on my following turn if I use the multiattack, break concentration to revert to my original form, do I still have the use of my bonus action? E.g. Polymorph into Giant Ape, next turn make two fist attacks as the ape, revert form by breaking concentration (which can be broken at ANY time with no action required), then cast healing word with my wizard/cleric. This sounds fine logistically, but I wanted to know other peoples thoughts. Thanks in advance.

Yes it is fine. Multiattack is a single action. You'll still have your bonus to use.

Doesn't seem like anyone has taken a shot at this one yet. No, the dragon does not become your true form because even if the polymorph does not expire in an hour, it is still a magical effect that can later be dispelled or, ends when you die (which then returns you to your true form (humanoid, I presume).
If one polymorphs a very large creature into a snail, does it appear mid-air or does it remain on the floor? (e.g. what is the center point when adjusting forms)
If one polymorphs a very large creature into a snail, does it appear mid-air or does it remain on the floor? (e.g. what is the center point when adjusting forms)
The floor.
The spell does not state that transforming creatures of different sizes can cause damage. If you transported very big creatures into tiny ones the fall alone would drop it to zero and undo it, making the spell pointless. It would therefore most sensibly go to the floor unless it was flying or swimming or something.

Yeah, one presumes that gravity would still be in effect throughout the transformation process. Real gravity, not cartoon gravity where the snail would have to look down first.
Good to know. I was hoping for a way out but your answers seem quite logical. I'll have to live with the fact that I have a bard and a wizard in my group who can litterally toss anything they encounter at the eye of the all-father off the cliff. I'll start building encounters up to the temple to drain their spell slots :(
We had a player polymorph another player in to a T-Rex but the T-Rex was then sent back in time 100 years in the past. Would this break the concentration or not? The were still there correct distance for spell just 100 years apart.
That's the intent. The spell doesn't wipe your memory, and the lead rules designer has confirmed as much as well (e.g. in this Dragon Talk podcast episode.)
This is a specific and fairly situational issue that I can't seem to find an answer to anywhere. An elf has disguise self cast on themselves less than an hour ago. You make yourself--including your clothing, armor, weapons, and other belongings on your person--look different until the spell ends or until you use your action to dismiss it. You can seem 1 foot shorter or taller and can appear thin, fat, or in between. You can't change your body type, so you must adopt a form that has the same basic arrangement of limbs. Otherwise, the extent of the illusion is up to you. The changes wrought by this spell fail to hold up to physical inspection. For example, if you use this spell to add a hat to your outfit, objects pass through the hat, and anyone who touches it would feel nothing or would feel your head and hair. If you use this spell to appear thinner than you are, the hand of someone who reaches out to touch you would bump into you while it was seemingly still in midair. To discern that you are disguised, a creature can use its action to inspect your appearance and must succeed on an Intelligence (Investigation) check against your spell save DC. Currently, they look similar to their original appearance only muted and forgettable. What would happen if they cast Polymorph on themselves and turned into a Giant Ape. While polymorph is a concentration spell, disguise self is not and requires an action to drop. The giant ape would have the same basic form as a humanoid. Would they appear as a giant ape or a bigger version of the elf they're disguised as? Asking for a friend...

You would need True Polymorph for that but yes you can choose a younger version of yourself.
The regular Polymorph would not work as you can only turn creaturns into beasts.
