As I understand it, D&D Beyond has a sale on Black Friday/Cyber Monday where all the books are $19.99. This also applies to the bundles. Therefore, I was planning to buy the books during this sale.
However, D&D Beyond has a sale going on right now where everything is 15% off. My question is, should I buy the books now? Or should I wait till Black Friday/Cyber Monday?
Bear in mind WotC owns DDB now. Previous patterns may or may not hold.

Depending on the books, there’s a third option of waiting until 2024, when the current PHB, at the very least, will be obsolete. Likely the DMG and MM, too.

Just wanted to clarify here. It is my understanding that the current books won't be obsolete. Outdated, yes, but not obsolete. As I understand it, those who want to play with the existing 5e/D&D Next rules will still be able to do so, including using them in all the digital tools here on D&D Beyond. Am I wrong there?

Certainly those who have physical copies of the current PHB, etc. can continue to play 5e, although the books will likely go out of print, meaning once the stock runs out, it won't be possible to buy new copies.
Based on what has happened in the past, I would anticipate that DDB would continue to allow access to the 5e PHB, MM, DMG for those who have already purchased them. I would likewise expect them to stop selling the digital versions here once the change is made. that said, 1) I have no inside information 2) we've not experienced an official version change since DDB has been in operation and 3) we are still in the early days of WOTC owning DDB. So there's no guarantee that what I imagine will be the case. I have not seen any staff comment on this (or related) questions.
If you're wondering when this year's one will start, it starts 21st November.
Last year the following Monday had a special sale with even higher discounts for certain books. That may or may not happen this time around.

This Black Friday sale is so weak! I will not buy a $46 book for $42. Give us a real sale, like 25%-40% off. Its supposed to be a sale, not an insult.
Yeah, before Wizards bought the site, when it held a sale they would actually have more than one thing be 40% off. Heck, they'd even put the preorders on 40% off.

I do not ever remember seeing sales reaching 40% off before last year. I have never seen preorders on sale, ever. I remember seeing sales of 10-15% off. Rarely I would see a bigger sale at 25% off. Granted these sales would stack with the Legendary Bundle discount so I would end up with 27% off or rarely even as high as 32% off.
Spelljammer was definitely on sale as pre-order, 20% off I believe. Can't speak to any others.

I got Spelljammer and Fizban's on sale as preorders. Before the takeover, any book that was in the store was put on sale whether it was already available or a preorder.

It is not Black Friday YET in the United States, so maybe there will be more sales going on once Black Friday actually hits. I do not see the bundles on sale yet, so maybe that will happen tomorrow on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

Thanks for your response. I guess the best information for now is, wait and see, because nobody knows what WoTC will do. :P ;)
Was there a Black Friday/ Cyber Monday sale last year and if so did it start early?

Was it the same books that have a discount being more discounted? Or different books than were on sale the rest of the week?

Let's see if they're actually willing to put any new books on sale.
