So my DND group does birthday wishes. My wish, as a draconic ancestry sorcerer focused in fire, I wanted a pet red dragon. The way we are currently scaling us just making it's hp the same as mine, and turning it into a very young red dragon on 5th level (homebrew) and a young red dragon on 10th level (we are using magic as an excuse for it aging so fast) Now keep in mind, I want him to be equal to a PC. Anyone got any ideas?
Check out the Drakewarden Ranger subclass. It's got a decently well-balanced scaling (pun) dragonamathing. It might be outside of the range of a birthday wish to get an entire subclass for free, but it could be levelled down (or up) pretty easily.

Look at what you've done. You spoiled it. You have nobody to blame but yourself. Go sit and think about your actions.
Don't be mean. Rudeness is a vicious cycle, and it has to stop somewhere. Exceptions for things that are funny. Go to the current Competition of the Finest 'Brews! It's a cool place where cool people make cool things.

What you’re describing is basically the sidekick that Sposta suggested. However a pet that is PC grade is asking a bit much. That means you’re wanting to play 2 PCs when everyone else is playing 1. A pet should be no more powerful than familiar and probably less. For a follower that the DM plays as much as you play them I can see a sidekick. Keep in mind that a wyrmling red dragon is a CR 4 monster.
Well, it's definitely more than a pet. My basis for this request is one of the other members for their birthday wish, they just asked for a clone. It's a another PC, so that's why. And not to worry, the DM agrees
Also I'm getting him at level 3, almost level 4. So he's going to be a little strong. And a red dragon wyrmling does about as much damage. His HP just won't be 75.
I'm not sure what you want here since it sounds like you guys have already thrown balance out the window. All of our suggestions are going to be significantly weaker than what you have in mind, so I'd just stick with what you've got and scale it back if it's too strong.

Why not just start with a Wyrmling and then apply the Sidekick rules to it?

I thought about the draconwarded, but it's kind of weak. It is a possibility, but I'll have to look into it
About the sidekick thing, it's worth looking into. Thanks for the tips!
